Today I went to the Doctors Clinic to get my DOT physical. I passed with normal blood pressure, and a low, normal heart rate. My urine screen was good with no sign of sugar or other problems.
The doctor did tell me I am Obese, and I need to lose weight. Gee thanks DOC...
Like I needed him to tell me this...
Oh well...

I Can't Get The Weight Down... It's Frustrating

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 217.8-Pounds.
This is Frustrating for sure. I thought by now I would easily be down to 210-Pounds. But, I can't even stay below the 215-Pounds target range. I just can't figure this one out.... I have been eating vegetables, and tomato juice, and protein power....

Yep, it's bad... I had a problem this morning doing my morning thing. I can't figure out why, since I have been upping my intake of green vegetables, and drinking more tomato juice. Yet everything came out very difficult. I can't figure out am I just holding stuff in?
This is ridiculous... I should be down at 212, or so by now.....
Yet the weight is hanging on?

Don't ask me why, I can't answer that question. I had a can of peas and a can of green beans last night for dinner... I had a three pieces of baloney for lunch, and a hot dog bun with the baloney on top. I had three scoops of protein powder for breakfast and an egg. I had a few small cookies too. That's all I ate yesterday. Yet here I am with this weight.
I am frustrated for sure....!

My Weight Loss Rant !
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 217.6-Pounds.
That's lower than yesterday, and no where near what I had expected.
Now, I looked at the readers numbers for my blog and they have dropped... I went from over one hundred a day to 11 today....
Good... You go chase down some fictional blog where the person isn't real, and you go read about stuff that doesn't work. I am in this weight losing thing for the long term. I will hit my targets. I'll do it with out pills and drugs, and fake diet foods.
Here is the thing most people want today; instant satisfaction. We Preponderants ate too damned much food and got fat, then we expect we're going to take it off overnight following some fad. Well, I am here to tell you it doesn't work that way.
If you are serious about losing weight then you better realize now that this is a very long term proposition !!!!!
You better be ready to change the way you eat for the rest of your life. That's right, you don't deserve the luxury of eating all the food you want... You don't have a high revving metabolism like some younger folks.
You better realize you have to weight yourself everyday. You have to constantly check to see if you meet the weight of the day before, and that you fall into a normal weight range. If you don't then you are just fooling yourself.
And, if you're just 10-Pounds overweight, you have a problem. If you're a guy, and you have one of those tummies that bulges, you have a problem. If you're a woman and you have fat on the fanny, or your tummy, you've got a problem.
So go read the other blogs. Go chase the other people and see what new mysterious fat cure they can contrive. Here's your problem: YOU EAT TOO MUCH !!!! YOU EAT TOO MUCH OF THE WRONG STUFF !!!!
There has to be a balance, and you have to figure out what that balance is.

No Calories, And Still Not Losing Pounds????
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 217.8-Pounds.
That's not good... I wanted to be further along.
Yesterday I had a can of Clam Chowder Soup, three scoops of protein powder, an egg, a cup of milk, and three small packs of fruit trail mix with almonds. That's hardly enough calories to be gaining weight with.
I don't know, this is making me nuts. I am starving to death and not losing a pound...

Another Disappointing Day
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 220.8-Pounds.
You can't be more disappointed with this than I am. I went out of town. I ate a lunch yesterday. I had an ear a corn, a biscuit, two pieces of chicken, cole slaw, a small scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy, along with a root beer soda. I didn't eat anything the rest of the day. And, I had a couple jelly beans. Whoopie...
By the time the evening rolled around I was starving. By the time I got off work at 2 AM, I was dying. I went to bed hungry, only to wake up and see these numbers...
I am scratching my head for sure...
Well, I can't do anything about it except quit eating anything, and that's not going to happen.

Holding Above 215-Pounds
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 216.4-Pounds.
Yesterday I stepped up onto the scale weighing in at 217.2-Pounds.
That's not where I had hoped to be by now, but at the very least it's still below 220-Pounds.
Today I got to the library and was getting out of the car. I looked to my left and saw a very large woman sitting in her car snacking. She was eating popcorn. I was thinking what is she eating this for?
I have no idea what her history was. From my experience with people who are aware their weight is out of control, I remember many people think they have to snack and grace all day long to manage hunger and that urge to eat.
Well, eating popcorn never helped me. I am sure it's not going to help her in the long run either...
Well, I have to go right now... I want to finish this and can't.

Changing The Eating Patterns To Avoid Insulin Resistance
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 217-Pounds. I had hoped that it would be 215 or lower. I'll have to take it...
A few days ago I was listening to a radio program where the Doctor Bob Marshall was talking about the insulin intolerance people experience. The Doctor is a QRA practitioner, and believes that diet, exercise and the proper nutrition is what helps people get healthy and stay healthy. Short of a catastrophic illness he is not keen on using medications.
He had a caller call in and explain he was over weight, and wanted to know how to change the diet to lose weight. One of the things the Doctor talked about was in the morning our bodies shouldn't be loaded up with carbohydrates. He said it's because we naturally go into a lower state of insulin production at night. And, by the morning our body isn't ready to begin pumping out insulin quite yet.
The doctor recommended changing the order of diet and food consumption. He stated in the morning eat low sugar foods, such as a piece of fruit, an orange or apple. He said don't load up in the morning on carbohydrates or fats. Save the middle of the day for the protein packed meals, and the meals with the fat (The fat he recommends is that in the Avocado). Then he said eat the food with carbohydrates no later than 4-5 PM. He said the body has to get ready to consume the carbohydrates and it usually is best at a later meal. Now, he's not big on breads or legumes either. But, his thinking is, if you eat this stuff, then that's probably the time to do it.
So I have changed my diet accordingly. Now, with my schedule this is tough to do. But, I have been eating two small oranges in the morning, then I'll eat a yogurt. Yes, there is some sugar in the yogurt. Later around noon, In the middle of the day I eat an egg, and some protein powder, around 4-5 PM I'll eat a ham sandwich, or a turkey sandwich, along with that I'll eat a yogurt, or piece of fruit.
What I am trying to do is follow a pattern I hope will help me regulate my sugar levels and not put me into a situation where my insulin levels go out of whack. Since I don't have a blood sugar meter, I have to do all of this by guess and by golly. I might go out and get one... We'll see.

I Am So Excited... Slowly But Surely Persitance Pays Off !
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 216.4-Pounds. Yes, you read that correctly.
Let me tell you I am just so excited about that. Let me share with you something else. Today I put on a pair of black jeans that I couldn't button back in January of 2013. I also put on my black work belt and pulled it to its last notch. That's right, I now have to add another notch in the belt because I will eventually be too thin to keep my pants up.
Ain't that something?
You might be asking, "David, you're lying aren't you because yesterday you were at 220 + Pounds?" I was, but I also wrote that I had eaten an Italian Sausage the night before and had fries too. I really believe that was just stuff waiting to leave. This just might be true for you too. That's right, you may be packing on some extra pounds only because you had a really big meal the night before. Then again, if you are like many women before you menstruate, you gain water weight. I am not a doctor, and won't even begin to try to explain that phenomenon.
So, I am excited and feeling really encouraged by this current progress.
I am telling you. I can't wait until I lose another 20-Pounds.
I haven't been starving to death like I did a few years ago when I did this. Now, when I did the days when I reset (It was a 24 fast of water only, and my morning coffee.), I really struggled with the hunger. In fact I got dizzy a couple times because the blood sugar went down. I toughed it out. That reset helped me clean out the crap... While I was doing that I did take my vitamins. When I got really hungry I drank a couple of glasses of water to try to fill up my tummy. It helped some.
Have I struggled with hunger? Yes I have. Do I get the urge to say to heck with it and pig out? Yes, and I have a few times. Then I get back on track.
If I run into trouble again when I get close to the 200-pound target, I might do a reset again.
So, you might be asking yourself what can "I" do? What can you do? It starts with facing the cold hard reality that you might have a weight problem. Yeah, you might have looked in the mirror and seen that pouch of a stomach and have to admit, that isn't so pretty. I know for women this really upsets them. You may have a pair of dress pants in the closet that don't button anymore. (I have a dozen.) You might have a nagging neighbor like mine who kept reminding me my stomach is too big.
The bottom line is: "Are you overweight?" Your scale will give you an objective opinion about this matter. That's right, there are those height weight charts out there that have been published. You can compare yourself to a well known weight chart. You might be like so many other people out there who will weigh themselves and say, "It's only ten pounds." Well, it might be ten pounds, but this is where the slippage down the slippery slope begins.
The very idea that you have extra poundage means there is a problem. You may be in the early stages of "Insulin Intolerance." You might be eating just a few more calories than you need. You may be eating the wrong foods too often. I am not saying you can't enjoy a donut. I'm not saying you can't have a piece of birthday cake. I am saying how much, and how often.
And I'll just flat out tell you now: LOSE THE SODAS... That's right, you may have the habit of drinking a coke, or spite each day. Give it up. QUIT.... I can't make you do that. But, I am telling you that is just pure empty, empty calories. You might as well stick a needle in your veins and put a glucose drip on yourself for the damage all that sugar is doing. (Yeah, yeah, you say I admitted to having a couple Sprites. I don't make that a daily habit.)
And, let me tell you something else; sugar is addictive. I know. I had a heck of a time giving up the sodas. I thought I was doing myself a favor by switching to the diet soda. That was a bad move on my part. Now, I just mostly drink water when I eat.
So, now you can admit you're overweight. You have arrived at the reality of what's going on. What's next? Get into the habit of weighing yourself everyday. That's right weigh everyday that you can. I suggest you write down the weight and keep a log of your weight.
Keep an eye out on everything you eat. That's right, every liquid, every piece of candy, everything you eat or drink keep track of it. This includes that 15-calorie candy you slip in your mouth after a dinner meal.
Why do I say that? Because every calorie counts. It's those little unaccounted calories that get us into trouble because they add up. They really cause a problem because sugar has a profound effect on your digestion, and your insulin production. And, since you are overweight, you most definitely are consuming too many calories.
I have a friend in another company now. He's much older than I am. He has been confirmed as a type two diabetic. He's lost weight too. Only he's done it the stupid way. He's too busy or lazy to keep a record like I do of what he eats. So because he can't account for everything he eats, or drinks, he'll go day after day eating once a day. Boy you want to talk about adding fuel to an already raging fire of physical trouble: try being diabetic and then fasting away from food. That just exacerbates an already serious problem with the sugar. He would be better off going to an all protein food program. But, I can't tell him that. He thinks he's so smart.
Don't you do that. I did it for twenty four hours. But, that was it. I eat everyday, and I eat normal foods that we all eat. I EAT LESS....
I want to continue adding my ideas to this rambling, it's just I have to get going.
Here is the bottom line: YOU EAT TOO MUCH ! If you have 20-Pounds to lose, or just 10-Pounds to lose: YOU EAT TOO MUCH. You eat too much of the wrong foods. You pump to much sugar into your system, and then you gain weight.
You may be one of those people with a high revving metabolism. I still caution you watch out for those candies, and sodas. Yeah, there was a day I wouldn't gain a pound. That day came when I hit the proverbial wall and over did it. Then I began to add on the pounds. It got worse, and worse. Then I was caught in a never ending cycle of gaining pounds rapidly.
This can happen to you. And from the looks of it, many, many, many people EAT TOO MUCH, or they DRINK TOO MUCH of the wrong things.
I am writing this to say you can change. You can put on the brakes, and make up your mind to lose weight.
Is it too late to lose those pounds? I am 54 years old. I am working at it right now. I have every, every, every intention to get to a normal weight.
I am not a doctor. But, I can tell you most doctors will tell you it's not good to pack on the pounds. It doesn't feel good being over weight. It doesn't look good being over weight. It's not really healthy being over weight.

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 216.4-Pounds. Yes, you read that correctly.
Let me tell you I am just so excited about that. Let me share with you something else. Today I put on a pair of black jeans that I couldn't button back in January of 2013. I also put on my black work belt and pulled it to its last notch. That's right, I now have to add another notch in the belt because I will eventually be too thin to keep my pants up.
Ain't that something?
You might be asking, "David, you're lying aren't you because yesterday you were at 220 + Pounds?" I was, but I also wrote that I had eaten an Italian Sausage the night before and had fries too. I really believe that was just stuff waiting to leave. This just might be true for you too. That's right, you may be packing on some extra pounds only because you had a really big meal the night before. Then again, if you are like many women before you menstruate, you gain water weight. I am not a doctor, and won't even begin to try to explain that phenomenon.
So, I am excited and feeling really encouraged by this current progress.
I am telling you. I can't wait until I lose another 20-Pounds.
I haven't been starving to death like I did a few years ago when I did this. Now, when I did the days when I reset (It was a 24 fast of water only, and my morning coffee.), I really struggled with the hunger. In fact I got dizzy a couple times because the blood sugar went down. I toughed it out. That reset helped me clean out the crap... While I was doing that I did take my vitamins. When I got really hungry I drank a couple of glasses of water to try to fill up my tummy. It helped some.
Have I struggled with hunger? Yes I have. Do I get the urge to say to heck with it and pig out? Yes, and I have a few times. Then I get back on track.
If I run into trouble again when I get close to the 200-pound target, I might do a reset again.
So, you might be asking yourself what can "I" do? What can you do? It starts with facing the cold hard reality that you might have a weight problem. Yeah, you might have looked in the mirror and seen that pouch of a stomach and have to admit, that isn't so pretty. I know for women this really upsets them. You may have a pair of dress pants in the closet that don't button anymore. (I have a dozen.) You might have a nagging neighbor like mine who kept reminding me my stomach is too big.
The bottom line is: "Are you overweight?" Your scale will give you an objective opinion about this matter. That's right, there are those height weight charts out there that have been published. You can compare yourself to a well known weight chart. You might be like so many other people out there who will weigh themselves and say, "It's only ten pounds." Well, it might be ten pounds, but this is where the slippage down the slippery slope begins.
The very idea that you have extra poundage means there is a problem. You may be in the early stages of "Insulin Intolerance." You might be eating just a few more calories than you need. You may be eating the wrong foods too often. I am not saying you can't enjoy a donut. I'm not saying you can't have a piece of birthday cake. I am saying how much, and how often.
And I'll just flat out tell you now: LOSE THE SODAS... That's right, you may have the habit of drinking a coke, or spite each day. Give it up. QUIT.... I can't make you do that. But, I am telling you that is just pure empty, empty calories. You might as well stick a needle in your veins and put a glucose drip on yourself for the damage all that sugar is doing. (Yeah, yeah, you say I admitted to having a couple Sprites. I don't make that a daily habit.)
And, let me tell you something else; sugar is addictive. I know. I had a heck of a time giving up the sodas. I thought I was doing myself a favor by switching to the diet soda. That was a bad move on my part. Now, I just mostly drink water when I eat.
So, now you can admit you're overweight. You have arrived at the reality of what's going on. What's next? Get into the habit of weighing yourself everyday. That's right weigh everyday that you can. I suggest you write down the weight and keep a log of your weight.
Keep an eye out on everything you eat. That's right, every liquid, every piece of candy, everything you eat or drink keep track of it. This includes that 15-calorie candy you slip in your mouth after a dinner meal.
Why do I say that? Because every calorie counts. It's those little unaccounted calories that get us into trouble because they add up. They really cause a problem because sugar has a profound effect on your digestion, and your insulin production. And, since you are overweight, you most definitely are consuming too many calories.
I have a friend in another company now. He's much older than I am. He has been confirmed as a type two diabetic. He's lost weight too. Only he's done it the stupid way. He's too busy or lazy to keep a record like I do of what he eats. So because he can't account for everything he eats, or drinks, he'll go day after day eating once a day. Boy you want to talk about adding fuel to an already raging fire of physical trouble: try being diabetic and then fasting away from food. That just exacerbates an already serious problem with the sugar. He would be better off going to an all protein food program. But, I can't tell him that. He thinks he's so smart.
Don't you do that. I did it for twenty four hours. But, that was it. I eat everyday, and I eat normal foods that we all eat. I EAT LESS....
I want to continue adding my ideas to this rambling, it's just I have to get going.
Here is the bottom line: YOU EAT TOO MUCH ! If you have 20-Pounds to lose, or just 10-Pounds to lose: YOU EAT TOO MUCH. You eat too much of the wrong foods. You pump to much sugar into your system, and then you gain weight.
You may be one of those people with a high revving metabolism. I still caution you watch out for those candies, and sodas. Yeah, there was a day I wouldn't gain a pound. That day came when I hit the proverbial wall and over did it. Then I began to add on the pounds. It got worse, and worse. Then I was caught in a never ending cycle of gaining pounds rapidly.

It's Really A Bumpy Ride...
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 220.2-Pounds.
I am thinking to myself, "What happened?"
Last night I went to eat because I was out. Someone purchased my dinner. I had a six inch Italian Sausage on an Italian Bread Roll. I had a small French Fries. Along with that I consumed what might be considered 16 ounces of Sprite Regular Soda. I think the soda did me in....
I thought sure I would never see 220 again... Here it is...

????? OH Man... What Happened?
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 220-Pounds.
Yep, I am thinking it too... What happened?
I think it was the three cups of milk I drank late last night before bed time....
I sure wish I had better progress to report.
Today driving to the library I got stuck sitting at the railroad crossing behind a bunch of cars. Immediately in front of me was the walking path. I watched a man who was probably in his late forties jogging. This guy had the typical body of many middle aged men. He had that big puffed out bulging belly, puffed fat chest, and the chicken legs that stuck out of his shorts. As he jogged along everything shook like a mass of jello.
It's obvious this man must be running to lose weight. However, if that's the reason he's running, then he like everyone else by the end of the summer will quit, and he'll still be fat. I know this because I have been there.
I have a former friend who was like this. Now, he never had that bulging tummy, but someone insulted him by commenting about his jiggling fat on the chest by calling him "Man Boobs." He was so offended. This guy would harangue me by telling me exercise, exercise. Well, I was losing weight without the exercise. (This goes back to my last attempts to lose weight.) My friend got a job that consumed his time driving and attending work. As a result his running took a hit. He never modified his diet to reduce the calories. He would always send me charts about how many calories I was burning walking and exercising. He didn't realize I was already keen about all that stuff. That mettle some know it all regained all the weight he lost, and then some. What's really sad is he purchased a Town-House. He has a basement in that home of his. He purchased a hardly used treadmill for a song.... ! He used it a little while and then came the baby, and all the excuses not to use it anymore. ...
That's the way it goes with so many of our good intentions to exercise. Listen folks this is a cold hard reality.... YOU EAT TOO MUCH FOOD..... Face the cold hard facts.....!
You drink to many empty calorie drinks, and you fail to count those liquid calories in you plans. You consume to many things on the side like popcorn, ice cream, breads, etc. and you fail to account for that too....
If you live in America, and you are even 20-Pounds over weight there is no excuse for you..... There are diet books in the library that take up whole rows of shelves. There are diet programs on TV. There is all kinds of information available to you and me....
But, you eat, and I eat, we eat, and then we get fat. .... Then we listen to the morons that will tell you if you'll do this, you'll be skinny like me.....
EAT LESS FOOD... CONSUME LESS CALORIES... !!!!!!!!!
We'll see about tomorrow with my weight....

I Am Still Below 220-Pounds.... Good !
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 218.4-Pounds. That is still below that 220 target, and just over 3-Pounds to hit 215.
It sure seems like it's taking forever.
Today I was stopped at a traffic light. Along side me pulled a very large garbage truck. He came so close I could have touched his truck. Well, I immediately moved my car up and away from this machine. I got ahead of the truck and saw the driver. I gave him a cheesy smile even though I thought differently of the matter.
He had a big bag of Cheese Curls on the dash board that he was digging into and popping the food into his mouth, (With his bare hands... Eeeeeeeeh...!) . Anyway, this guy was obviously skinny. But, I couldn't help but think about this junk he keeps pumping into his stomach. And he's not the only one I think this about. I see this being done by the people who ride behind me in my bus. I don't see anything wrong with eating a couple hand fulls for a quick tasty snack. I can't see sitting and eating the whole bag. That in my opinion isn't good.
This is why we are fat, and fatter as a society. We drink sugary sodas, and eat whole bags of snack foods. Then we wonder why we're round like a beach ball.
We eat too much. I eat too much. And, if the shoe fits, maybe you too eat too much.

Reset Worked...!
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at (Are you ready for this?) 217.8-Pounds.
The reset worked, and I'm over that hurdle to the next 5-pound target.
I didn't post yesterday. I couldn't get online. Yesterday I weighed in at 220.8-Pounds.
Now what did I do you may ask? Why did I call this a RESET? This is one of the things I do to push myself past a real sticking point in my weight loss program. I declare a 24 hour fast. What this does is permits my body to get out the junk, and start the body burning fat again.
Now you may ask, "What about the fasting causing the body to go into the panic mode (starvation mode) and you start burning all the lean tissue?"
It's not going to do that with a 24 hour fast.
I actually fasted a bit longer that 24 hours. I was fasting two days ago when I had written that last post. Then when the evening came I was so hungry and then got invited into eat at an Indian Restaurant. Well, that's all it took. It was going to be free food, so I couldn't turn it down.
I ate a piece of chicken, some pan bread, some potato, and whole lot of vegetables. Well, my 24 hour fast was broken, and because it was so late 8 PM, it all showed up on the scale the next morning.
I restarted the fast yesterday, and did it until this morning. I ate 4 hard boiled eggs for breakfast today, and now I am starving.
So did I do some damage, and now I am in the starvation mode? I don't think so.
It's back to eating the way I was now,"LESS FOOD..." I am confident that the 220-Pound range is gone and I am looking for 215-Pounds.

RESET... Clean The Drain Time...!
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 224-Pounds.
Don't Panic, I ate last night at a buffet around 7 PM.
This afternoon I got dressed for work and actually stepped on the scale at 223-Pounds.
This was after having drunk a pot of coffee in the morning. Today I didn't eat anything for breakfast, or lunch.
I didn't post for Thursday, and Friday. I usually make up a post and then change the date to fit what I missed. Today I am not doing that.
So for you who eagerly wait with baited breath anxious to know how I am progressing. (Your fans, I know how you are... I make myself laugh.) On Thursday I weighed in at 221.8-Pounds.
On Friday, which was yesterday, I weighed in at 222.6-Pounds.
I know what you are thinking; I am going backwards. Not really, I'm not.
The reason you are seeing these high numbers is because I have been out late working. As a result I have eaten later in the day. Some of the meals were big ones; like a double whopper cheeseburger, small french fries, and a couple glasses of sprite. OH David, how could you?
I know you think I am the absolute paragon of mental and emotional weight losing virtue, and strength. I know you look up my blog seeking for inspiration... Yeah, yeah, Okay.... What ever...
Anyway today I decided to do a RESET. I am not eating any solid food today. I had my pot of coffee, and my vitamins. Now I am on a fast of just water. The reason is that I am making sure everything I have eaten makes it's way out, and the left overs don't effect the outcome of my weight.
I am not convinced I have packed on the pounds.
Now, if I continued to consume food like I did last night at the buffet then I would be regaining pounds.
I just don't think I have done any damage. We'll see tomorrow. In the mean time, I will be drinking water and flushing the poop-shoot... (disgusting !)
