Portion Sizes... ! And, WAY LESS SUGAR...!

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 221.4-Pounds.
NOT BAD...

Okay, okay it's not the 219-Pounds of just a few days ago. If you could see what I ate yesterday, and went to sleep with sitting in my stomach, then it would be reasonable to expect that I would be much higher.

Just a reminder, last night I had a very large hamburger last night, french fries, and cole-slaw for dinner later in the day than I usually eat; around 7 PM or so.
So, I was expecting to see 223-Pounds, or maybe more this morning.

This morning I woke up earlier than I had planned to. Something in my room beeped and I woke up in response.

I turned on the TV in my room and there was a commercial for a weight loss program that uses "Food Portioning."  The claim of this infomercial is that you can eat all the kinds of food you want all day long just as long as you portion the food. What do you get with the package? You get a program that teaches how to discern fast burning carbs, from those slow burning carbs. It also teaches how to keep the blood sugar levels up all day so you can keep burning fat all day. 
As a result the commercial showed these people who lost all this weight.

Well, I think it's a wonderful program. If you need to buy a big expensive program to learn how to eat right, and it works, well wonderful.

But, I learned everything I needed just watching the commercial. I don't need to buy this program to understand the difference between carbs. There are diet books gallore you can pick up at the public library that will teach you that.

Let me tell you what the key is... PORTIONS SIZES...

Here it the Bottom Line... YOU EAT TOO MUCH. 

Okay, I think it's reasonable to eat little portions of food throughout the day that will keep sugar levels normal... Can you say oranges, fruits, or an apple between meals? Can you say less bread.
Can you say no SODA...?

Yesterday I drove a junior college down here to Southern Illinois for a track meet. We went to dinner last night. Afterwards the coach chewed the kids out for over eating. He really chewed on them for drinking soda pop. He told them the sugar is going to seriously effect their performance levels in the meet tomorrow.

I couldn't agree with the man more. High amounts of raw sugar in the body cause all kinds of problems. The worst of the problems is INSULIN INTOLERANCE.... That's where the body can't process sugar anymore.

And that can happen when the body is constantly shocked with high does of sugar. The body is like a machine. If treated normally it will happily go along processing the foods we consume day in and day out nearly without a hitch. But, when a storm comes the body is like a over loaded system that is trying to find a place to dump the excess. When we eat too much sugar day afterday the body can't figure out what to do with the sugar. So, it gets stored as fat.

Now that's a very simple explanation for a complicated issue. I think you get my meaning.

Well, after that commercial was over another one came on for turbo fat burning. Well that's just great. I don't have the time. Sorry.... !

I Am Almost Back To 219

I went out of town today and am spending the night. So I very carefully packed the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale in my luggage.

I went out dinner this evening and ate a large hamburger, french fries, and cole slaw. I had a chocolate, chocolate donut in the morning.  I stepped on the scale this evening at the hotel just before I went to dinner and was already down to 220-Pounds with clothing on. After dinner I was at 225-Pounds with all the food, and liquid in me.

We'll see what happens in the morning...

Up Four Pounds... It Can Happen To You

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 223.6-Pounds. That is back up over the 220-Pounds. And, it puts a real big dent in my progress this week.

All I can say is it's going to happen to you. There are going to be those days when you eat just too late in the day, and then it's there on the scale the next day. Well that happened to me yesterday and the day before. I had a big hamburger for dinner. I was treating my sister-in-law and brother for dinner. It was their 27 wedding anniversary.

It's back on the wagon today, and we'll see what happens.

I am leaving tomorrow for some unknown place and I am thinking will I bring my scale.

Back UP!

Last night I had a late night meal of Pasta and sauce.

Tonight I went to dinner with my brother and had a large hamburger with some onion rings.
I really don't expect the numbers to improve tomorrow. I might actually be at 224-Pounds tomorrow.

Just Under 220

Tomorrow will be better... I just ate a sandwich made with peanut butter and jelly, on wheat bread. Then I ate down 4 tangerines. Tangerines are like my candy. They are sweet and juicy and I eat them just about every day. ...

I've Turned Another Corner, And I Am Heading Down To 200-Pounds...!

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 219.2-Pounds.
There I made it, and it's now time to head for the 210-Pounds range.

Now, I don't expect this to happen over night. I have to remember that I was over a month just losing the five pounds I needed to lose to reach 219.

And, it's going to be the same way for you too. Dog Gone It, It's Hard. I mean it. Who wants to be doing this weight losing thing anyway? Not me.

You don't know how many days I wish I could wake up and not have to worry about what I have to eat all day long.

But, that's the way it is. We don't have those high revving metabolisms. I don't anyway. It's my personal opinion we all eat way more than we really have to. I also think we eat a lot of the wrong stuff; Donuts, large glasses of soda with sugar, large cups of juice, candy, and lots of breads, and pastas.

We load up on the carbohydrates. We should be eating more vegetables, and proteins.

Well, that's my opinion, and so far for the most part it's working for me.  Oh, and I do have my days when I cheat...! Naught me....

Your Scale Will Tell You The True Reality...!

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 222.2-Pounds.

Yes it's taking time to break to 220 or below, and then stay there.

Yesterday I cheated though. Yeah, I ate a chocolate covered donut. I was getting coffee, and I saw an old man with two chocolate covered donuts. I just had to have one.

Later in the day I was at the Steak and Shake. I ordered a double steak BBQ burger. Then I had an order of fries with it. Normally I skip the fries.

As I sat there at the table at the Steak and Shake people around me were ordering these Ice Cream Shakes in the glass cylinder cups which are about nine inches deep with Ice Cream.
It took everything I could not to order one to consume. Only I thought about what I already had for the day, and realised I was at my limits and more.

You Can't Trust What People Tell You !
Yesterday at work someone told me I am chunky.
The day before that someone told me I don't look that bad.
A few days before yesterday I was talking to a friend, and she called me fat in Korean.
My neighbor down stairs always says something about my protruding belly.

What do these things have in common? It's all something some tells us that informs us about our appearance because of our weight.

You probably have people who make comments to you too. 

The problem with people making comments is they aren't you. They don't know what you suffer with trying to lose weight. They don't know if you have a shoe box filled with cup cakes under your bed. They don't know what you eat and what you do.

But, people feel they can give us objective truth by making comments to us to us about our appearance.

We can go look in the mirror, and see that bulging belly, or those chunky thighs. This seems to give us a real objective idea about how we are doing with our weights.

The truth is your appearance isn't a dependable guide as to what you should weigh.

It's the numbers, they don't lie.

The other day I was looking at one of those carnival scales that are in the food courts at malls. It has a metal placard on it embosed with heights and weights for men and women. It was a chart for what is considered normal for the height, and the build of someone; man or woman.

My chart said 5' 10' light build 155-165-Pounds. That's right, I am a light framed man, and because of that, I am not supposed to weigh more that 165-pounds. The truth is all through the time I was on active duty in the army I never got over 170-Pounds.

Many people who saw me after I finally reached the weight of 174-Pounds, (see the side for my weights) complained that I looked to skinny and too thin. The reality was I was darn close to where I was supposed to be.

And, my appearance seemed to me at the time to be just a tad too much weight. I still had some of a belly even when I was close to where I should have been. My appearance didn't match my weight.

And, I have seen men and women who are like this. Some women have a thick calf on their legs, and they will always have a thick calf on the legs, even if they get to a normal weight. That is because this is the shape of their body.

Some men will always be paired shaped, even though they have a normal body weight. I knew a guy in the army like this. He had an odd build. He was normal weight but had wide hips like a woman. This can't be helped...

My point is this. You can't trust your appearance. And you for darned sure can't trust everything many people tell you about your weight. You have to step up on the scale and go from there.

I have a cousin who is thin, thin, thins. She complains when her clothes get tight. She has a bad self image, and doesn't know what she really should weight. She really is to skinny, and to me actually isn't that attractive because of it.

That's not me, and that's not you...

Look at your scale. If you are too heavy, then you know you have a problem.

When Will I Get To 219-Pounds...? It Sure Seems Like Forever

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 222-Pounds.

Oh David, what is up with you? Why aren't you progressing faster? I am so disappointed in you. I take the time to read your blog post and then I find you're not going anywhere. Hey, I want to lose weight Mr. Weight Loss Guru...! What's you're magic formula? EAT LESS FOOD is my answer...!!!!!!

Well, darn I have to eat too. If you have ever studied carefully my progress in the past, you are going to find that I had many periods of time where my weight loss progress was slow. I never claimed that I was a weight losing guru, or the master of weight loss.

That said, I have been successful losing weight. And, I can assure you that if you really want to lose weight, you will. The challenge will be for you as it is for me, is to figure out how much food you can eat. My challenge was to figure out how many calories would it take to lose the poundage, and to do it safely. I didn't write it's easy either. Many, many times I wrote about hunger. This is the first thing anyone asks me; "What about hunger.?" And, isn't that the reason most of us eat, is we're hungry? Just look at how many little children complain to their parents ; I'm hungry mommy, or I'm hungry daddy. We're motivated to eat because we're hungry.

Isn't it true that when you're full of food,  even the best desert looks ghastly? When you're hungry honey looks good to eat. When you're full honey looks detestable. Now, I am writing about the normal people out there who finally stop eating when they are full. I don't know what to write about the person who eats even when full. I have seen those people too. When I go to a buffet sometimes I do that. I want to taste everything. Fortunately, I can stop.

What about you? Why do you eat? What are you eating? Are you compelled to eat? Are you unable to get a grip on your self? It's hard to do.

I really believe that there are some people who are over weight who are absolutely hopeless. I have a niece that is like that. She is profoundly blind. She cannot see. Her appetite is highly over developed. She has to eat all of the time. Since she is blind she has no self awareness of her physical appearance. She is big. But, she doesn't care. She screams and whines when she doesn't get food she wants. And, she is very taxing to my older sister. It's a very, very sad situation.

However, for those of us who can see; I myself shutter when I look in the mirror. Yeah, I have an overlap of belly there. And, it wasn't nearly so bad when I got to 180-Pounds. That's what I am hoping to eliminate. Well, I am now 54 years old. Why should I care what I look like? Well, it's the appearance as well as the reality I am not healthy up at the higher weights. Try to imagine the liver wrapped in fat. Try to imagine the heart wrapped in fat. Well, we fatties have that going on inside of us. And, the fact that we're still alive and hanging onto fat tells us we're getting all the food we need each day.

That's a sad reality isn't it? If you are still overweight, the reality is you are getting more than enough food to live. The reality is you can probably cut back on something. It's hard isn't it?

This is why I write look at your sugary products. Look at cutting out soda. Give up that after dinner piece of pie. I don't mean give it up all the time. What I mean is cut the frequency down of consuming sweets. Cut it way back and you'll probably start to lose weight just doing that.

This morning I got up and ate two pieces of wheat bread, with two pieces of cheese, and two baloney slices, with mayonnaise. I am going to eat a yogurt and some small oranges and that will be breakfast.

I'll probably eat some protein powder before I go to work tonight, along with some peanut butter. I will look for a salad later.

Yesterday Morning I got up at four in the morning to go to work. I ate at that time too. I got up and ate the sandwich that I didn't finish the day before. I had a yogurt and headed off to work. I got hungry by the time I got off work. There in the break room were trays of Cinnamon buns and sweet biscuits, and pastry. I ate one of the Cinnamon buns. It was small and I estimate that was around 300 calories, or more. That was empty calories I could have saved for later. It was yummy though.....

So you can eat normal foods. You can have a Cinnamon bun, but that's all you can eat sometimes. Many times I have found that I am still hungry after eating that Cinnamon bun. Only I have to think about the fact that bun is gelatin fat making material. I have to limit the consumption of those things.

The reality is after I eat something like that, I pretty much have to accept I am not going to be eating very much more for the day.... It's hard too... Because I get hungry for the rest of the day.

It's a balancing act to lose weight. There are diet pills out there, there are things that can be taken to speed up the processes. But, what about learning to maintain? That's right, if you lose all the weight with a pill, or with some magical method, you'll never learn to maintain your weight.

Let's just say you go and have that stomach operation to tighten up the stomach or move the pipes around inside. You'll find out you will be eating less food. And, don't be fooled by the hype, the hunger is still there. That's right the hunger is in the brain, not in the stomach. It's lowered blood sugar that stimulates hunger. And, just because you have your pipes moved around, or have a band put on the stomach doesn't mean you won't be hungry. I have talked to many people who have had those operations. They still feel hunger. Now though they can't satisfy that hunger. They end up suffering worse than before the operation.

The reality is though, if you have the will to lose weight, you can.... If you are really, really hungry you can bulk up on foods like fermented cabbages. You can bulk up on salads. You can bulk up on green vegetables. All of these foods have very little impact negatively on your weight losing.

Thinking about what you can do to satisfy hunger that is constructive saves you from doing something destructive to you...

I knew that was going to happen. Last night I was tired and hungry after work. I ate a bowl of chocolate, chocolate cereal, and drank down two scoops of protein powder.

I have to run...

I'll Say It Again... Give Up The Soda

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 221.8-Pounds. I do believe 219-Pounds will be here soon enough. Look at the blog posting, and see how long I have been at this just losing only 20-Pounds. I've been posting since January when I originally began walking at night. It seemed like forever that I stayed over 230-Pounds. Do you recall that is weight that I actually gained since I repurchased another scale? That's right, even though I could see the numbers I was going backwards up to 240-Pounds fast.

So what changed my mind again? The biggest thing was that I couldn't get my last pair of bluejeans on anymore. That's right, I was back into my fat jeans, and couldn't close them. Just imagine how I felt picking up one pair of jeans after another and feeling the utter frustration they can't close anymore.

My work pants were getting tight too. It was getting to the point I couldn't close my work uniform pants up.

I remembered how good I felt at the lower weights. I remember I didn't feel burdened like I did. Oh it feels so good weighing less. It feels so good being able to put on smaller clothes. I remembered how I felt.

Yesterday I took a bunch of school children to Springfield Illinois. We stopped at a Burger King, and a McDonald's along the way. I was given my food for free because I was a bus driver. And as I walked around the places I could see how much food people ate. I could see all the fat women and men. I could see the super sized french fries. But the worst thing I could see was that extra large soda. Yep liquid fat as I would call it. In twelve ounces of soda is about 10 teaspoons of gelatin making sugar. In a 32 ounce soda it's three times that amount.

I am not sure people really realize that is part of there problem. I am sure most people think that they don't eat that much food. Well, they never put two and two together to make four either. That four is the 26 teaspoons of sugar they gulp downs three times a day with their meals.

For the guys it's not just the soda, but most of the time it's the four beers they have at night after work.

I gave up the booze. Drinking alcohol really makes trouble when trying to lose weight and keep it off afterwards. I know that for sure. When my mom died (three years ago in March) I'd come home every night and sock away 3-4 beers. I wasn't drinking like that before, but I was depressed. Let me tell you it never does get rid of the heart ache.

Yeah, there are those liquids we miss in our total calorie count in consumption of food. Right now I stick to Whole Milk, and to water.

I am convinced if people quit drinking Sodas the soda companies would go out of business.

And don't think you are doing yourself any favors going to drinking diet sodas. I can't tell you just how much damage diet soda has done to my joints in my knees and my shoulders. Some people say it's just age. I don't think so. Now my joints are recovering some.

I remember I used to run and fly like the wind. I gained weight, and then tried to lose it. I went from drinking regular sugar soda to drinking diet soda. I used to drink at least a 2 liter per day. I always used to wonder why I would get this achy feeling after I drank it. Sometimes I would get these headaches for no reason. I never realized it was the diet sodas.

If you are trying to lose weight, my recommendation is you should give up all diet foods. Drink water. If you must have some soda, just drink seven up, or sprite with regular sugar. Just remember you are gulping down empty calories that at to your total calorie count for the day.

I have a suggestion. Before you commit to jumping head long into a weight losing program, try to see how many things you eat each day that have sugar in them. I suggest give up the soda at the restaurants and get water. Only drink water at the table. Get in the habit of drinking water.

It's harder to do than you think. I remember years ago craving my sodas. The soda habit is hard to break.

If you're a Coca Cola drinker, or Pepsi drinker switch to root beers or clear sodas. That is if you must have a soda.

I am not a fan of any COLA drinks. I am convinced they eat up the bones. I used to use COKE to soak my steak in for a marinade. It eats softens meat right up.

Resolve to eventually give up soda pop altogether, and drink water.

I am not saying don't drink apple juice or orange juice. But, remember they add sugar to them as well, just look at the label.

My Weight Is Down, And The 219-Pounds Is In Range....

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 221.4-Pounds. That's down from yesterday, and I am again approaching that 220-Pound target.

Let me tell you something I did last night. I went to the store to get bread, and milk. I saw a new cereal that Kellogg's has made. It's a Chocolate, Chocolate cereal. Well, I poured half a cup of cereal, and some milk and then ate it. That was a yummy cereal.

Now maybe you think that I should not do something like that. Only that was well within my range of calories left over for the day.

I never right don't eat a goodies here of there. I write limit your goodies. I never say be so strict you make yourself crazy. I say limit your crazy impulses.

If you want sweets, it's not going to kill you to eat something. I only give exception to that if you are a bona-fied diabetic. Then the rules change. But, I am not diabetic, nor am I anywhere near being diabetic.

I am careful with what I consume throughout the day.

Well, I must go, I have to get to work.

OH I AM UP AGAIN !

OK, OK, it's not what I hoped for. It's not 220-Pounds. And, to be honest with you. I cheated this weekend. I had a bag of Reeses Chocolate Pieces. I had a snickers bar. I ate a double helping of apple pie. OK< OK.... You're all broken-hearted  and disappointed...

Well, I sure enjoyed myself eating the goodies. And, I know that I must be setting this absolutely terrible example for those weak willed quivering piles of preponderants who have little will power to resist.

I know that I will get to 220 or less here in the future. It's not going to happen as fast as I expected.

Ha, Ha, David, You Crashed And Burned... !

Hello Weight Losing Friends...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 223-Pounds.
Just before I left for the library I was at 222.4-Pounds.

Well, well, well David, you crashed and burned. You can't fly blind without your scale can you? Bah, ha, ha, you're just like all the rest of us out there. We can't do it, and neither can you....!

Yeah, I guess I should just throw in the towel and quit this round.

Today I was looking for some dress slacks. I came across a pair in the closet that I used to wear. They were a size 38 in the waist. And, I looked at those things in disbelief that I even wore them at all.
That's because I am so far away from that weight I was when I wore them. If I were to slip back into those pants now, I would have to weigh around 180-Pounds. I am not anywhere near 180-Pounds.
I am still wrestling with trying to break through 220-Pounds again.

And, I say to myself: "How did I get here." It's an easy answer: I wasn't watching what I was doing. I neglected to weigh myself everyday. I ate food I knew I shouldn't. I am not saying don't have a piece of cake. I am saying don't keep eating cake. I am not saying don't eat a hot dog on the bun. I am saying don't eat two in one meal.

Let me tell it's frustrating.

Today it is finally in the 70's. The fat people are out jogging and walking. Everyone wants to lose weight and get trim. They don't stop to realise that it's more than just exercise that burns off those pounds. It's the diet.

Those poor girls with 20 extra pounds bouncing don't stop to think that the box of chocolate they get from the boyfriends or husbands adds too many extra calories in one sitting.

The men don't realise they ate too much at the Super Bowl party in January, and that bad habit goes on every day.

They they go: jogging, running, biking, walking down the street, all the fatties hoping to burn off extra calories.

Let me let you in on a secret, by the end of the summer no one will be running, or jogging to lose weight. Most people can't keep up an exercise regimen to save there lives.

And, I am not knocking exercise. What I am saying is the best exercise is to put down the fork, spoon, and soda cans, and walk away.

Alas, most people can't do it... This doesn't mean you can't. But, you have to decide to get after it. Even if you fail. You just keep getting after it, until you reach that targeted weight. Then you have to maintain.

Never, ever, no never let your guard down. Or you'll be like me: I lost 60 pounds in one year. Then in less than 3 years, it's all back.

I had to start all over. And this time it seems even harder.

222.2-Pounds Today !

Hello Weigh Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 222.2-Pounds.

A few days ago I was writing that I went Zing past that 222 number right on into the 220-Pounds range...

Well a few things went wrong (ahem, chocolate ice cream, chocolate cookies. They were girl scout cookies and for a good cause... ) and I jumped right back up to almost 225-Pounds...

I was glad to see last night when I got home from work that my scale showed 223-Pounds because I knew when I woke up it would show less than that. I weigh myself in the morning bare butt naked (anyone want pictures...? I am just kidding...).

Now do I feel guilty for eating ice cream, or cookies? NO !!!!! Should you slither along on your belly and feel guilty for eating Ice Cream? NO !!!! As long as that is part of your total plan. Let me say I don't eat the fat free ice cream, or diet ice creams. I eat the real stuff. Well, I think it might be the real stuff. (Who can tell these days?) Is Haagen Daz real ice cream?

I was disgusted the last two days like I had written. I was miffed when I saw that 220-Pounds disappear into 224.6-Pounds. I fully expected I would get back to the 219-Pounds in days. It didn't happen, so I got snotty and said to myself, "I am going to enjoy myself."

If it's any help to you at all, your weight is going to go up and down like that. For me, it was just stuff waiting to leave. I had forgotten that I was out late and was given a plate of macaroni noodles, salad and bread to eat for a late meal, and that was compounding my problem.

Everything seems to be back on track. I am not at that 220-range, although I am progressing slow-but-sure. That's really all I can hope for. That's what you should be looking for "Slow-but-sure." You should be making progress over a long period of time. Just remember, when you reach your targeted weight, you'll have to maintain that weight. You have to learn how to eat properly so you can maintain.

This weight loss program is life long. For you it's going to be an everyday thing. Just look what happened to me when I let down my guard. I regained everything I lost. Now, I have to struggle again to go back to where I came from.

What if you fall of the "Wagon" so to speak? Well, get back on the wagon. Start doing the things you did before. Or in our case, don't do the things we did, and that was to consume more food than we should.

Don't think for five seconds it's easy. Don't think I just walk away from food without doing a look back. I want to eat Cinnamon rolls. I want to eat chocolates, and candies... I want to. I never lost my sweet tooth.

I like going to buffets and sampling the good foods. I like the smells, and the tastes. I miss my beers at night. I miss my bags of chips. I miss my bowls of cereal and sitting at the computer and eating them. I liked going out to eat and eating with abandon. I didn't want to have to keep a tally on every thing I eat or drink. Some days I don't want to post this blog.

For me writing this blog is a reminder of what I am doing. It's a part of the discipline of accountability to myself to keep after it.

And, I might help someone somewhere get an "A HA Moment." Someone might read this and say to himself, "A HA, I don't have to stay this way." Someone might say, "Hey, I just need to eat just a little bit less." "Hey, I can lose weight, someone else did."

You don't have to start right now. But, someday when you get tired of continuously buying bigger pants. Someday when you get fed up looking at that bulging belly. Someday when you get tired of being tired, you will try to do something about it.

You'll try fat pills. You'll try fad drinks. You'll try anything to lose the weight. But, then someday you'll finally realise that the problem is your eating habits. That's right. It's that giant soda in your hand, and the two hot dogs you just ate at the baseball game. You'll realise it's the box of chocolates you just ate because you're mad at the boy friend, or your husband. It's the big beef sandwich you just had for lunch and the big french fries, along with all the rest of the stuff you ate today.

Maybe someday, you'll be tired of being tired. Here is what you do: 1) Keep a tab on everything you eat and drink each day. 2) Write it down so you'll remember it. 3)Start weighing yourself everyday, and write down that weight. 4)Be honest with yourself. Ask yourself if you are over eating. 5)Start with the easy stuff first. 5)Cut out that soda pop, and drink water. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID diet soda, and diet drinks. They are not good for you and they do stimulate hunger... I KNOW...

There are other things I can and will add to that list. For example: quit the alcohol... I mean it. It's calories you can't account for. Drinking effects your moods, and has an effect on will power. I know that for sure too...! Alcohol has an effect on your liver which in this time of trying to lose weight you don't need all screwed while you try to clean out that booze. Alcohol effects memory. Alcohol effects food processing and can contribute to indigestion. Alcohol has increased in price considerably, and takes money away from other things. Alcohol stimulates overeating and hunger. So, cut way back or quit drinking. I did it.

I can go on and on.

I'll write it over, and over again..... "IT'S NOT EASY." "EAT LESS FOOD." "Cut back on those total calories."

Are You Tired Of Being Hungry? I Sure Am....!

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 225.4-Pounds.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you are thinking, David, you oinker...! What have you been consuming?

Ice Cream, chocolate mint cookies, granola bars, large slice of pizza is what I have been consuming. I did the math. Even with those foods, I still didn't blow through my calorie counts so badly.

Oh well, I have no answers. I was at 220.4-Pounds, then I am back up four pounds.

You aren't half as baffled as I am.

And, I am worn out .... I really am. I was starving to death that day I hit the 220 numbers. Really, I ate breakfast and couldn't get anything else. So for most of a very long day I went very hungry, and dehydrated. Which may explain the 220-pounds.

I have to get going.

UP, UP.... OH Darn !!!!!

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 224.6-Pounds.

What happened David? Well, yesterday I was hungry. I was careful with my food consumption, and my calorie counts. Then I came home from a long day of work only to step up onto the scale weighing in at 223.8-Pounds.

OK, I had a big piece of pizza at work, and I had two yogurts. That was all I had. Yet I got discusted and thought, "To heck with it." I ate a sleeve of girl scout mint chocolate cookies. And, I drank two glasses of grape juice.

So there... I really screwed it all up....

You know what else? Today, I ate a pint of chocolate, chocolate chip Ice Cream. So there, I really, really screwed it up.

Aren't there those days when you get pissed off because this weigh losing thing isn't working? Just two days ago I was at 220.6-Pounds. Then next day I was at 222.2 or more....

Then the day after that I was almost back at 225-Pounds....

I get fed up, starving to death.... So I said, "Screw it..."

There you have it...

No 222-Pounds, Zing - I Went Right Past It.... !

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 220.6-Pounds.

What did you just write? I weigh 220.6-Pounds today!

What happened to 222-Pounds: Zing - right past it I went. I didn't even get to write those magical 222 numbers for anyone to see.

Whoa...


I knew that I might be at this weight today. Last night I got off work, came home and weighed myself. I weighed 221.6-Pounds. I was going to write about it last night, only I was tired and didn't want to find a WIFI-hot spot.


You might be saying to yourself how did I do it? EAT LESS FOOD....!

Awe David you write that all of the time. Isn't there some better way? Nope not for you and me there isn't. We are the preponderant ones. We don't have those high revving metabolisms that turn every portion of food into High Octane Fuel. No, we are the ones whose bodies say, "Excess food, well we'll put that over here in the Fat Storehouse." I don't like it any better than you. The reality, is the reality.

I know it's not easy. I know it's difficult.

You have to put your head down and grit your teeth and say to yourself, "I am going for it." You have to say to yourself, "I am going to lose this poundage."

Oh, how I wish I had been more careful and stayed where I was at 180-Pounds back in 2008. I have written before many people lose the weight and then regain it. Well, I was one of them.

If I can do it a second time. You can do it too...

You have to want to.

I Am Getting Even Closer To 220-Pounds... Yipeee....!!!!!!

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

This Morning I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 223.2-Pounds, or was it 223-Pounds? Well, both of these numbers popped up when I stepped up and off the scale... So we'll run with 223.2-Pounds... That is still a drop in .08-Pounds.

This is without a scale for two days to check my progress. This is after having gone to two buffets, one day after the next. I was flying blind. And, this tells me I think I have a pretty good idea what I can get away with. Yesterday I went to the breakfast buffet, ate, and had a couple delicious little goodies. I hit my daily calorie count that I restrict myself to. Then for all the rest of the day I went without food.

It was hard. I was hungry, especially when I went to the truck stop to get some transmission fluid. There was this Cinnamon Bun Bar with fresh made Cinnamon buns. Oh they smelled so good...!
I resisted the temptation.

Well, I have to go for now.

Before I go: This Morning I ate three hard boiled Easter Eggs, and three scoops of whey protein powder.

Are You Thinking About It Everyday?

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I could not weigh myself. I am out of town and didn't carry the scale with me.
OH WELL...

Anyway, I was thinking about how good it was years ago when I finally reached that 180-Pound target I set for myself in 2008. It was wonderful... I felt great, and I think I looked better.

That said, I used to think about how good it would be when I could get to that weight again. I thought how many clothes that I might try on that I had not worn for a long time... Yeah, I do have clothes around that are that old... Sad isn't it?

But, it was because I thought about it all the time that I kept that target in my mind all of the time...

Do you weigh yourself everyday? Do you think about it all of the time?
As soon as you forget to, that's when you'll turn backwards...

I know it's hard. But, it's for you, and no one else.

This Morning I was in the Hotel. I went to the breakfast buffet. They had all the usual goodies that would be in a luxury hotel; sweet rolls, sweet breads, all kinds of bacon, and sausage. Just imagine the temptation for someone who is hungry, and wants to lose weight.

Anyway I did have a large omelet (about 400-calories). I had two bacon strips (70-calories each). I had two sausages (70 calories each).  I had two of those small danish (300-calories each). I had a bowl of melons and pineapple chunks (250 calories). Then I drank water and coffee.  So that wraps up my calorie count for the day.... Let's see how I do for the rest of the day... It's going to be another long one....

Before I left for breakfast I took about 8 Betaine HCL tablets for acid production. I also took 4 food enzyme tablets....

I'm Getting Closer To 220-Pounds

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 224-Pounds.

Last night I went to bed a little bit hungry. I wasn't sure I was going to be at 224 today because I had leftover Chinese food with about three cups of white rice. Then I had three cups of grape juice.

Yesterday I wrote Maybe I will write something today. I have been at work since 6:45 AM and awake since 4:45 AM. What a very long day this has been.

I went to a buffet today for lunch. I was careful what I ate, except when, I got the dessert. Yeah I got this bowl of chocolate brownie cake which was floating on melted chocolate pudding. Then I put Ice Cream on it.  Being the bad boy I am, I went back for seconds. What can I say, it was so delicious I couldn't control myself. 

I haven't had anything to eat since then. It almost makes me wish I had brought my scale with me. I am curious what I would weigh tomorrow. Right now I am very hungry, and I am tempter to go find something to eat. But, it's very late; 9:44 PM...

I am getting closer to that 220-Pound target.

Tonight I got to see myself in a big mirror here in the hotel room.

I really need to lose many more pounds of fat. I have to much fat hanging ...

Oh well...

Break Through... ! I Am Getting Closer To 220-Pounds

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 224.8-Pounds.

This is even after my blowout feeding frenzy over the Easter Weekend. Well now, ain't that special?

Yesterday I had a rather large amount of mixed rice from a Chinese dinner left over. I ate that in the middle of the day, and I wondered would I see any changes today? Last night I was visiting my brother late and we were eating pop corn. I wonder would that slow or stop my progress?

Today I had about three cups of cooked rice and some beef from another Chinese dinner that was sitting in the refrigerator. I still felt hungry after I ate it.  That's a lot of carbohydrates for the day. I don't know what will happen tomorrow. 

For those of you who peek in everyday to see how I am progressing; I won't be posting for the next two days. Saturday will be the earliest.  Maybe tomorrow I'll post something, MAYBE....

I am going out of town and I am not bringing the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale with me. So, I won't have any weight to report on Friday for sure.

Damage Minimal....

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the  New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 226.4-Pounds.
That's not bad for all I ate this weekend.

For you who already read this post today, these are additional thoughts I am writing.

Many, many times I have written, "It's not what you eat, it's how much you eat. It's the total calories that you consume for the day." I also write over and over: Eat Less Food.
Now, that said, does what we consume matter? Well, yes it matters. It doesn't make sense to consume nothing but carbohydrates all day and forget that protein is needed as well. And, I have written this before too, "Eat more protein than carbohydrates." If you're a vegan, or vegetarian, I am not so sure I can give you advice. I don't know what sources provide the necessary B Vitamins that eating red meat provides. Well, I guess I could look them up.
But, I would tell a pudgy vegan the same thing I would tell we the preponderant ones: EAT LESS FOOD....!

This weekend was a blow out weekend of eating. It postponed  my target weight of 225 or less pounds for this week. However that said: It was all yummy. I wrote yesterday I wouldn't make it a habit.

Now today I had a little more to eat for my dinner than usual. I had some left over Chinese food that had to be eaten before it got bad. It was probably about three cups of mixed rice. I had a slice of  Easter Lamb Cake, a chocolate and some tiny jelly beans. In the morning I had a hash brown, an Egg McMuffin, and orange juice, along with two scoops of protein powder. 

Let's see what I get on the scale in the morning....

The Gluttony Of The Easter Celebration, Damage Not So Bad

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale weighing in at 228-Pounds.
I knew this was going to happen. But, it's not as bad as I had expected.

It all started Friday Night when I went to Wisconsin. My cousin (she's the devil) Insisted that I go out and buy a roasted chicken. This was at 9 PM or so. Now I don't usually eat at this time of night anymore unless I am just dying of hunger. When I got back to her house she had a pork chop, gravy and homemade dumplings waiting on a plate for me. I am grateful she was willing to feed me. However, it's not a good time to chow down like that.

Well, the rest of the weekend wasn't much better. On Saturday I went to the store and purchased a big bag of onion rings along with some some fried chicken. I ate that. Then throughout the day I started eating chocolate that my aunt brought over to me. I had about six pieces of deluxe chocolate candies. Yummy..! Anyway, I ate a bunch of those little jelly belly beans. I had I can't tell you how many of the chocolate Easter eggs.

On Sunday I went to a buffet at a golf course. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had stuck to a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. I scooped on the mashed potatoes and corn. Later after my meal I went crazy with the pieces of cake, and the cheesecake slices.

All and all it was a weekend dieting disaster. But, it was all very yummy.

I wondered what my weight would be today. I figured I'd tip the scale at 230 or so. I am sure if I kept that up, then that would eventually have happened.

But, this morning I was only 228-Pounds. Hey, that ain't so bad. Now, does that delay my 200 or so pounds that I hope to be at sooner than later? Sure it does. However, I didn't deny myself a weekend of goodies.

I think once in a while go crazy isn't going to hurt. But, don't make it a habit.
