Weights Down, I Don't Know Why
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.2-pounds.
That's better than it's been. It's not that 180-pound target.
I have no explanation for why my weight jumped up so quickly to almost 190-pounds. I was thinking about what I may have been eating. Then only thing I can think of is perhaps drinking a couple of glasses of wine after work at night did something to slow my fat burning. I have written about this before in the past.
Like wise, I have no explanation why suddenly my weight has gone back to 182-pounds.
It just decided to drop. Let's see what happens from here.
Most People Are Clueless About Calories
Today I was having lunch with fellow employees. We went through the buffet line together and got our first plates of food.
On my plate of food was a slice of pepperoni pizza, salad, small carrots, 1/2 a cup of fruit salad, and a roll. I was still hungry, and then went back and got a slice of cheese pizza.
Someone at the table said hey, are you still eating, what's wrong with you? Someone then said, I thought you are supposed to be on a diet. To which I replied, "Do you have any idea what I have eaten today?" If you don't then mind your business. I also said, "I have plenty of calories left for today."
The one man said, "What do you eat, about 1,260 calories a day?" I said, "Nope, I can eat about 2,000 calories a day."
Most People have absolutely no clue how to figure out how many calories are in a meal. They have no clue about what can be eaten. As a result many people go through life getting fat, and fatter. Then they get critical of people like me, and are clueless about what I am doing.
You will encounter this with many people. You will run into those ignoramuses who will make comment on what you or I do. And, if you are weak willed from the beginning with your weight objectives, then you will be blown like a plastic bag in the breeze.
I don't care what people think about my eating habits. Most people have no idea what I went through getting to where I am now with my weight. I don't care if they do.
If you are going to lose weight, then you'll have to harden yourself to the critics. Yes, you will find them. These will be the people who will make comment about your weight progress.
They will act like they really care if you are losing weight. They will be critical of how you are progressing. They will even offer free advice. I have a sister-in-law like this. Mean while she is continuing to gain weight. She and her husband. But, they say they are healthy.
Many months ago I used to write over and over, don't lose weight for anyone but yourself.

My Weight Dropped A Couple Of Pounds For No Reason
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183.6-pounds. That's better than what it has been. It's not that 180-pound target.
I can't explain why my weight dropped like this. Perhaps it's only because I stopped eating anything by about 2 o'clock PM. I had hit my total calorie intake by having a piece of lasagna and some meat balls with sauce. So, I made up my mind to deal with the hunger.
Lyn popped in and made a comment about losing a couple of pounds this month. Gee, I wish. Let's just wait and see what will happen with this.
I am being careful this week.
I have to work late tonight, and early tomorrow. I will have to deal with that monster called hunger. I will have to resist my impulse to exceed my daily intake of calories.

Mother's Day, And A Big Excuse To Pig Out....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at ???? Golly, I forgot to bring my scale along.
Oh, I know. Today I weigh nothing. There... I am light-as-a-feather... I'm free...
So, I now have no fears. If I can't see the weight, or the numbers on the scale, then nothings wrong.
Yeah, that's it. Ditch the scale, and toss out the notebook. Then I can eat like there's nothing wrong. I'm freeeeeeeeee!
Yesterday was Mother's Day. I had a few more sweets than I usually do. Yeah, like two bowls of Ice Cream, and two slices of cake. Yes, I had my cake and ate it too. Ooops.
I am human like you. I like ice cream, and I like cake. And, I've been so deprived. Yeah, right...
I like you, have this gene in me that makes me a bit like a PIG! Oink. I will eat what ever is in front of me. Slurp, glug, burp...ah, that's good.
Have no fears, I am still at it. Yesterday was a day of overindulgence. I don't plan on many more.

Weight Crashing...Going Up On The Weight Scale
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 186.6-pounds.
That's the same as yesterday.
Tomorrows weight may be higher. I had a big lunch. That's all I am eating for the rest of the day.
Now, I am scratching my head wondering why I am continuously gaining here. I have been holding the calorie line. Only, I just keep putting on the weight.
Someone mentioned that I should excericise. Here's a news clip, I have been excercising. I don't have the ability to get out there and run. I can walk and do. I would run, but my knees got tender again. So, I backed off of that kind of exercise.
I am not going to walk for miles and miles. It takes up to much time.
So, here I am. Scratching my head, and wondering what to do to fix this. I don't want to go back to real skimpy meals because I get to hungry. I have been eating TV dinners. They are only about 400 calories each. They haven't helped.
So, lets just see what happens.

Cut Back Your Calories: You'll Face That Hunger
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 185.4-pounds.
So, getting to 180-pounds and getting past that is tough. For some reason, I am stuck here at this poundage.
I am sick and tired of skimpy little meals. TV dinners with about 400 calories aren't enough. I have been following someone's advice by eating chicken broth, and other vegetables. It doesn't help with the hunger, and the empty feeling. It just doesn't.
I don't care what anyone says. There is no way to avoid hunger when cutting back on the calories.
I hate it...

How Long To Lose 20 More Pounds?
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 185.4-pounds.
That's up from yesterday.
I am not sure why since I didn't go over 1,600 calories yesterday.
At this rate, I wonder how long it's going to take me to get to 160-pounds.

My Weights Going Down
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.4-pounds.
Yesterday I didn't post. I actually got back down to 182.4-pounds. Last night I had a second helping of meat loaf, and mashed potatoes, some icecream, and a piece of pumkin cake. That explains the extra two pounds for today.
So, I am up. It was suggested to me that I eat salads with my TV dinners. That's a good idea.
There aren't too many calories in green salads. It's the dressings that usually have all the calories. That is unless it's just olive oil with vinegar.
I am looking for that 180-pound target again. Only this time, I think I am going for my 160-pounds target. I am not satisfied here at 180-pounds.
So, let's see what happens.

It Sucks Losing Weight, It Just Does
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183-pounds.
So, what did I do to achieve these results? I cut back to 1,500 calories per day. I decided that I cheated too much. As you can see my weight jumped.
I went back and calculated up my calories for the weekend. There were days when I actually consumed as much as 4,000 calories in a day. This is because I was eating things like ice cream, buttered popcorn, and wine. These were added calories that added to the carbohydrates, which effects insulin levels, and adds extra calories that the body doesn't have to have.
Last year I used to write about being a preponderant. I used to write that I am a preponderant. That's a legal term for tipping the scales. In this case it means tipping the scales in an unfavorable way.
Being as I am a preponderant person, I am not like the average Joe. I am sort-of like an Alcoholic, only my sickness is food. I can't eat food, and eat food, and eat, and eat. (That's deliberate syntax there.)
I have to admit to myself that I have had a problem. I ate too much for my own good. I like anyone else like sweets, chocolate, Ice Cream, etc.. And, I like anyone else have to strain with my will to avoid consuming to much of these things.
As you can see, it caused me trouble real fast. I only went overboard for just a few days. Look what happened: I hit almost 190-pounds. Oops.
My heart sank that morning when I stepped up onto the scale and saw that weight jump. Whew, I couldn't believe the numbers.
It's like being knocked off of a horse. At my age it's a long way to the ground. It hurts when I hit the ground, no matter how hard I have to fall. So, I was knocked off of my high horse. Ouch...
I had to stand up, dust myself off, and get back up onto that horse. I had to overcome the mental momentum that I lost. Fortunately, I have been riding this weight loss horse for well over one year. I knew how to get back up onto that weight loss horse and ride again.
I know what I had to do regain the weight loss momentum. I had to cut back, and "EAT LESS FOOD."
I Hate Eating Less Food
I hate eating less food. It sucks going back to eating smaller meals. Here is why: I don't like being hungry all of the time. Yes, it's back to dealing with that endless, nagging hunger. I hate it.
I Fantasize About Food
Last night I had to work all night long. I ate a TV dinner at around 5:00 PM, and a cup of strawberry yogurt shortly after my meal. That was it. I was at my calorie count for the day.
For the rest of the night I had to deal with that empty feeling in my gut. I had to deal with the thoughts of food all night long. Yep, I went from fantasizing about one thing, to fantasizing about food. Go figure....
This morning I woke up at around 10:30 AM after having about three hours of sleep. (I worked all night.) My tummy was rumbly. I ached with hunger this morning. I had to get up and out the door, so I made another TV dinner.
This TV dinner was 410 calories. I looked at the tray with dismay. All that was on the TV dinner tray was a little blob of potatoes, maybe 1/2 cup of corn, and a pork rib that was about the size of a playing card. This meal was 410 calories? That's what was written on the box.
I knew before I ate it that I would still be hungry after I ate this meal. Yep, after I ate it, I was still hungry. I made up an 8 ounce glass of protein powder. That was my whole meal.
Now, as I am sitting here typing this, I feel that empty feeling in my tummy. Even though I have eaten, I am still hungry.
This is something you may experience too. You'll have to watch those calories, and at the end of each meal, you won't feel like you ate enough.
You will have eaten enough. This is where you'll have to over come that mental anguish, and that psychological pull that food has on you. I did, and I still have to wrestle with my desire to satisfy hunger, and my neurotic connection to food.
Did I write neurotic? Yep, I am nuts about food. I love to eat, eat, eat, and eat. I love Cheetos, potato chips, popcorn, ice cream, mixed chocolates, big cheese burgers, fried chicken, and other goodies.
I don't like dealing with the hunger. I don't like dealing with my mental anguish. I don't like it. I have to deal with all the trials of losing weight...
When I have achieved that target, I have to remain vigilant. You will have to as well. Sorry, but you aren't skinny anymore. You won't get skinny again if you don't take dramatic action.
Bye for now...

Hold On When You Go Way Backwards: Don't Give Up
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.4-pounds.
I haven't been able to post the last couple days since I have not been able to get to a computer. I have been working maddening long days.
Since I haven't been able to post, you folks missed out on some real weigh loss blunders on my part.
I am listing my last two missing days here now:
Wednesday- April 30, 2008: 189.4-pounds
Thursday-May 1, 2008: 186:6-pounds
Oh wow, did you see those numbers? Whew, what in the world happened there? How did I go up to 189.4-pounds. Well, for three days I was in an an environment where I could eat, and eat all the goodies that were there. And, I did. Also, I went crazy drinking diet soda like coke zero, and cherry 7-up.
Also, I have been drinking wine. I polished off two bottles of wine over three days. (No, I'm not an alcoholic.) This contributed alot of empty calories.
Look what happened in such a short time. Also, I have given up drinking coffee. I have for the most part eliminated caffeine from my diet. Since I have, I think that changed things.
Caffeine is used in many non-prescription diet pills. I suspect that taking caffeine out of the diet my body changed metabolism. I can't prove it.
So, what have I done to remedy this dramatic weight jump. I have basically cut way back again on my food consumption. I have gone back to eating less food.
Yesterday I was on the road all day. I had to eat at fast food restaraunts. I made breakfast and had and egg with balogna sandwich. At lunch I had a McDonalds, club sandwich (660 calories), Then for dinner I had just a plain old fashion cheese burger. When I got home I didn't eat anything else. I didn't eat any French Fries, or anything else like side orders.
I was thinking about this whole thing. I have been trying to maintain my weight at 180-pounds. I would like to go lower. One of the things that happened is, being as I am trying to maintain, I thought maybe I could go over 2,000 calories more often that I did. I thought that I wouldn't have any problems. Well, I am here to tell you; I couldn't. Those extra calories added up.
Unfortunately, I am one of those people who can't keep splurging with the food. You probably can't either. And, I have to keep a close watch continuously on everything that I eat and drink.
I don't like it. But I have to regain the mindset that I am not lucky enough to eat until my tummy is full. I have to portion my food out. That's all I get to eat. Nothing more.
Let's see what will happen. Today I am at 184.4-pounds. I am watching carefully.

It Only Takes A Little Bit Everday Over Time To See Results
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.6-pounds. That's certainly better that yesterday.
Today I went for another long walk. It wasn't a real vigorous walk. It was about 45 minutes long. I may have burned about 300 calories.
Now, what have I done to drop 2-pounds in one day? I just let my body do it's thing that comes naturally when cutting back on food consumption.
You may ask does losing weight work so quickly? Well just remember; it's only been a few days out of hundreds of days of being careful about what I am eating that I over indulged. I only had to return back to my regular pattern and my body responded in kind.
I don't have to go back to anything other than keeping my calorie consumption close to 2,000 calories. I have been keeping myself the last two days consuming at around 1,800 calories.
I have small bouts of hunger associated with this.
This morning I woke up at around 2:00 AM and couldn't sleep. I was hungry and drank 8 ounces of grapefruit juice, and a cup of yogurt. Then I tried getting back to sleep. As you can see, cutting back 400 calories over two days and then do just a little exercise had some good results.
It just takes doing a little bit everyday over a long period of time to get some dramatic results.
Here is the problem with most people, they aren't that patient to wait to see the results. It takes sacrifice to do the little bit, and it takes diligence that's why most people fail.
Bye for now...

A Friend Told Me I Still Have To Much Stomach
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 186.6-pounds. That's the same as yesterday's weight.
Now, I guess this does mean I have gone backwards with the weight for sure. There are no anomalies here this time. I can't exactly blame it on stuff waiting to leave, now can I?
Yesterday my friend and I went for a long walk; it was about 4 miles. It took a little over 1 hour to complete. He and I were chit chatting about why my weight has turned around. I told him that I have been doing exercises. I have done some running these last two weeks. I have been doing vigorous exercises on my arms, and my legs, and my tummy.
It was funny that he told me that I need to tuck my tummy in more. I told him I do exercises where I tuck in my tummy. He laughed and told me that it doesn't show. So, I do have to lose more weight after all I thought. Twenty five pounds should do it. It would have been twenty, now that I have regained that five, it's 25-pounds.
He asked me if I think that I have gained muscle. No, I think it's some fat. That's what I think.
So, it's back to the drawing board again to see what I can do to fix this.
Bye for now...

Giant Leap Backwards For Me, And Mankind?
Are you sitting down for this one? Seriously, it's a surprise. Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 186.6-pounds.
Whoa.... Wow.... What has happened? Is David turning back into a little piggy? Oink... Come on boy... Squeal like a pig.
How do I explain this one? Ummm, I am going backwards. Now for some of you, you may be clapping your hands going goody, goody, goody. I knew he couldn't stay there at 180-pounds.
Well, I like many others out there do have tendency to trip and fall once in a while. Yep, I went to a friends house last night and chowed down on 3 1/2 large brownies. It was late in the evening.
Today I went with a friend for a long walk. We covered about 3 3/4 miles. It was a very nice day for a walk. My friend calculated that perhaps I burned off about 500 calories. Umm... that's nice. Will it turn this trend around? Nope....
No, I have to go back to skimping on the meals again. If I am going to go back to 180-pounds and then ultimately to 160-pounds, I will have to eat less food. That's it in a nut shell.
Bye for now....

You'll Never Be Perfect With Your Weight Loss
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.4-pounds. That's not great. I am up 4-pounds from my 180-target.
Someone gave me a comment a couple days ago. It was..."Eat Less." I commented back thanks for the advice. I also asked "Where did I read that before." Well, I have been writing it for over a year.
That was the secret to me losing 60-pounds. Eating less food. Now, I have been trying to hold onto the 2,000 calorie day limit for my calorie count. But, let's face it, there were a few days there where I went over that target by as much as 1,000 calories. Ooops....
Hey, I like sweets and foods like ice cream too. I am just like you. I struggle just like anyone to hold the line. This is one of the things that I try to encourage people about. I can't, can't, can't, can't hold perfectly to the plan of a certain calorie count per day. There are some day's I am hungrier than on other days. There are days when I see ice cream and say, "Oh, I gotta' have that."
You will too. In fact, I am not saying you should avoid completely some of the things you like to eat. You'll go crazy if you do. Just imagine how boring life would be if all we ate was just broccoli and some vegetables. Imagine how frustrated you would be if you could never, ever eat a cookie again. It's one thing to never see that stuff, it's totally another thing if you are seeing it day in and day out when shopping, or stopping to fill up with gasoline.
Hey, you are human. Hey, I am human. I am not perfect, and I defy you to prove to me you are perfect. You are going to have the days when you completely neglect your calorie intake. Now, I write down everything I eat still. But, I do blow past that 2,000 calories on some days.
I just keep weighing myself, and I keep trying to adjust.

My Weights Still Inching Up
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 185.8-pounds.
Has the 180-pounds target gone for good? I don't think so. Yesterday night I was at a family members home. We order some Long John Silvers. I had two fish planks, three chicken planks, French Fries, and cole slaw. This meal was at around 8:00 PM. So this only means to me that it's food still waiting to go.

I Haven't Quit, Even Though My Weights Up
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.6-pounds.
Well, that's up and over 180-pounds. And, I seem to be inching upwards here with my weight.
Well, I have been exercising, and attempting to work some muscle onto my bones. Oh No, I haven't put 4-pounds of muscle on my frame yet. I wish, but no... it's not there yet.
So what is the deal? Ummm, last night I came to a family members home. I helped myself to the goodies here around the house. Some of those goodies was ice cream, ice cream, ice cream, ice cream. Yes you read it right four helpings of ice cream. Oh, so naughty of me.
Oh, don't get so judgemental here because guess what; some day you'll do the same thing. This is precisely why I don't have quarts of ice cream sitting inside of my freezer. It's too tempting to polish off the stuff all at once. I still have a sweet tooth.
Yes I do write about avoiding sugar, but I'll bet even the best critics of sugar find themselves diving into the stuff with unrelenting fervor.
I've wrtten this before, don't kill yourself trying to lose weight. You'll make yourself insane. I mean it. This is a life long process, and getting up to speed from a zero start is hard to do. I have had to over come some physical problems just to begin to exercise. It's been a dragged out long process.
No perfection yet. It's easy to let one's guard down with the weight when being hungry, or nervous, or boredom sets in. Me, I was hungry, and I like ice cream. So being as I am human, I too will slip up.
Have I quit? No, I haven't given up. I promise.

My Weights Down For Today: How Vitamin D Changed My Life
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Scale weighing in at 183.4-pounds.
That's down from yesterday.
Now, I am up three pounds over the 180-pound target that I wrote I would maintain myself at. I may very well have gained 3 pounds. I am not worried about it.
If I had stayed at the 185-pounds, then I would be concerned. It's absolutely impossible to keep myself right on the target of 180-pounds everyday.
For you it will be impossible for you to do the same.
I haven't been writing much lately because I have been running out of things to write. You can look around the Internet and see much more than I have to say.
There is a You Tube Web Site Maintained by a Medical Doctor. You can go there and watch his videos and see a lot more than what I am writing.
So what if I lost 60-pounds? What will that do for you? Not much. So I am out of Ideas temporarily. Or, you can go read some of the blogs that I have listed on the left side of this blog.
Exercise To Change Things
One thing that I have been attempting to ease into is exercise. This morning I did fifty deep squats with out weights on my shoulders. I haven't been able to do a deep squat in well over ten years. I had to work my way into doing one complete squat, by doing shallow squats day-after-day. This has taken me a year to get this far with the squats. While I was doing this I was suffering with agonising pain in my knees.
How Vitamin D Changed Things For Me
I have been taking vitamin supplements for years, along with other supplements. I have even taken glucosamine on and off for years. I never could get my left knee to heel up.
When I was so overweight I struggled with swelling, and my left knee was actually starting to get tricky. It would pop, and out my leg would go. For no reason I would find myself stumbling as my knee began to give out from under me. Even when I lost weight, I still struggled with my knees, especially my left knee, and my shoulder (which felt like it was going to fall off.).
One day about three months ago I heard a radio commercial about vitamin D. The doctor was explaining that Vitamin D has been vilified unjustifiably. He was explaining that Vitamin D is crucial in helping the body process many things in the body. He said we could get Vitamin D from exposure to the Sun, but most people don't get enough sun...period. He was advocating using Vitamin D as a supplement. He mentioned that most people don't realise Vitamin D in small doses is not toxic. The biggest fear for Vitamin D is toxicity due the body absorbing the vitamin in fat, the second being what is called calcification of the kidneys. I don't remember everything he said, but I went to the Vitamin Store and purchased a bottle of Vitamin D 1000 milligram tablets.
I started taking the Vitamin D faithfully everyday with my Multivitamins, fish oil capsules, Vitamin B, Calcium, and some other supplements. Low and behold I started feeling less pain in my joints.
I started feelings the pain in my knees start to dissipate. Now, my shoulder is much better. My knees don't hurt nearly as bad as they did one year ago. I actually went out and jogged two days in a row before the cold came back here in Wheaton. A year ago I never would have considered doing a deep knee bend, and would never have done a push up. Now, I do both.
As I just wrote, I have taken supplements for years. I personally believe that Vitamin D did the trick. I had Vitamin D in my multivitamin, but it was as if it wasn't there.
If you have sore joints, I am recommending getting some Vitamin D. I really believe this will change your life. It will take about three months before you see dramatic results. I think I was getting pretty bad. I know this because when I would move I would here that irritating squish sound in my joints, and in my neck as I turned them, or moved. Now, I don't here it at all in my neck. And my knee isn't nearly as bad as it was.

Way Up In My Weight Today
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 185.2-pounds.
Woah... What happened? Ummmm... Last night I went to a buffet. I had steak, fried chicken pieces, salad, and some ice cream. So there you have it. I ate a lot of food last night.

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.6-pounds.
Tomorrow I will weigh in at more than that. I ate a little bit more than I usually do today. I am going home and drinking some wine. This will slow down my fat burning. So I expect to see myself weighing in at around 183-pounds tomorrow.

Did I Alter My Death Date Losing Weight?
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183.6-pounds.
That's down from yesterday.
I have started doing some strenuous exercise over the last four days. I am attempting to condition my heart some, and to move some of the lumps on my body around.
It's been hard to deal with the muscle aches. When I was much younger, I could deal with it so much better. Now, ouch, it's so painful. I have turned into a big wimp for sure.
A Fellow Classmate Died
Today I was at the laundry mat and opened up the newspaper sitting on one of the chairs. I opened up the obituaries to read that a class mate of mine that went to school with me in kindergarten, and then from fifth grade all of the way through high school died suddenly at the age of 50. The obituary didn't say what the cause of death was.
I sometimes wonder if I have pushed up my death date to a later time by losing weight. I wonder if it did me any good to give up something I love so much to lose weight. I can move around better than I did. I certainly look much better than I did, but that and $2.00 will get me a cup of coffee.
One never knows what that expiration date is on one's body. Is it a set time that God for ordained, or can we move it around? I guess suicide would be one way to change it.
Naw, I am too curious to see what the future will turn out like.

Don't Let Lifes Frustrations Stop You From Losing Weight
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.8-pounds. That's better.
What happened to the 180-target? Am I slowly slipping up here and allowing a gradual increase to my weight? It sure looks like that. Don't worry, I am not.
I have been careful with my food consumption. I have been avoiding sweets lately. I had some wine and beer at a wedding. I had some wine a couple of nights this week as well. These may have had an effect on me. I am not sweating it.
I am now going to attempt to go out for some daily walks everyday. That is, if the weather permits I will, and my insane work schedule as well.
I am going to work tonight and going to carry a Thermos of chunky soup with me, and bottles of water. I did that last night.
I am shocked by the incredible price jump in food. The last time I purchased chunky soup, I paid $1.00 per can. This time I purchased the same chunky soup and paid $1.39 per can. That was a 40% jump in price in a matter of months. Oh, ouch.
Also in the Fascist State of Illinois run by the King Blagojevich who has his "mighty" name all over everything, the food tax has now been reenacted. Yes, years ago there was only a 3% tax on food staples. Now, the State of Illinois is desperate for money, so they have a seven percent tax on many foods now. And a different tax on other foods. It's insane.
Why would I mention this? Well, it's deeply discouraging. And this among other things has an effect on behavior. There are things that I won't do because of the price of food. I have really cut bag on purchasing food in restaurants. It's just too expensive. There is a 10% tax on restaurant food. Add this to a 15% gratuity, and that's 25% of my money going out of my pocket.
So, when I have to go to work, I make my food, and then carry it with me. I will make some boiled eggs if I am going to be away overnight. I make sandwiches. I like to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because they fill me and they are like a treat because they are yummy to me.
You have to figure out how you are going to eat. That's that. You have to figure out how to get those pounds off and deal with what's going on in life.
I am writing this so you will know that you and I are in the same boat here. On some days I feel like I just dropped my oars into the water, and I can't get the motor started. We all have stuff to deal with. I am just letting you know that there are people out there who face many difference frustrations. You can't let these frustrations stop you from attempting to lose weight and getting yourself into shape.

My Weights Up More Today: No Worries There
This morning I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.2-pounds.
Hey David, what's up with that? Have you quit being careful there Mr. Dane? I see that weight slipping. Yeah, you're cheating David. Look you can't get back to that 180-pounds. Hmmm?
Well, for your information, yesterday evening I got back from the library and weighed myself. I actually stepped up onto the scale weighing in at 181.4-pounds. This was around 7:00 PM.
I went to the store and purchased some food. I then made a bunch of vegetables with four small pieces of chickens. I ate that at around 9:00 PM. It's just stuff waiting to go out the back door.
And, I am sure that some of it is water retention because of salt.
That's about it there. I am not worried about it.
This morning I was talking with a family member who joined Weight Watchers. She told me she went out to Walmart and purchased up a bunch of Weight Watchers food. I swear they put Magic Pixie dust in that stuff. What kind of gas do they pump into the room at the meetings?
I am writing this because I am finding that so many people are convinced that Weight Watchers is the only way to lose weight. I am not knocking joining an organization that offers support. I am concerned about the absolute mind change these people go through when they attend a meeting. It's scary. I don't dare say anything that goes against Weight Watchers, or I get corrected.
Listen, when I eat, I look at the total amount of food that I have eaten. I look at the calories that I am consuming.
Food is fuel. Our body responds to this fuel in different ways depending on the kind of fuel we put in. Think about it like buying jet fuel, or buying gasoline. If you have a gasoline car, you wouldn't dare put jet fuel into it's tank. You would ruin the cars engine.
If you had a jet plane, you wouldn't dare put gasoline in the engine. If you did, then you would blow up the engine, and maybe burn up the plane as well.
The same goes for the human body. Sugar, fat, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals are different fuels for the body. The body responds differently to each of these fuels. Each of these foods has a different component the body needs for it's functions.
I don't have time to go into the whole list of everything the body does with food. The bottom line is this: food is fuel period. It may taste real good (chocolate cake), or it may taste bad (livers), but, it's still fuel. What tastes good is subjective for each individual.
When we put to much fuel into our body, and the wrong kind, then we destroy the bodies ability to perform it's functions. Too much sugar causes insulin problems. Too little sugar causes problems too. Too much protein causes problems, and too little protein causes problems.
So, what's the solution? Years ago the U.S. government did tremendous research and came up with a thing called the food pyramid. On that chart is a suggestion of foods to be consumed. That's a good starting point to figure out what to eat.
We Eat Too Much Sugar
One of the things that I keep pounding away at is SUGAR consumption. It's debatable, but I am convinced we eat to much of it. Yes, me too.
It doesn't make sense to be eating dessert each and everyday. Many people eat something sweet at every meal. Many people will eat some donuts for breakfast, then eat a chocolate shake for lunch, and then eat some cake at dinner. I was like that.
It's not easy to cut back on the sugar. I know. I love it too. It's not easy to continue eating the right thing. I know.
The cold hard reality is this: If you want to lose weight, you will have to eat less food.
Oh, I wrote it again. It's always the same thing everyday Mr. Dane: "Eat Less Food, Eat Less Food, Eat Less Food." Whah, Whah, Whah, Whah, Whah, Whah...Blah, Blah, Blah.
Can't I come up with something different? Ummm, yes, here it is. Go ahead and eat like there is no tomorrow. Eat that large pizza all by yourself. Oh, have a party and then all of you eat a pizza. Then go eat a bunch of chocolate chip cookies afterwards. Then lie to me, like I have seen people do, and tell me you don't eat that much food.
I was at home study a few weeks ago. The woman that was so critical of my way of losing weight was there. Now, this is the woman I wrote about before. I watched this woman pop into her mouth three chocolates. I saw her eat food at the beginning of the study. Did she eat dinner too?
I don't know.
This woman claims she doesn't eat that much. Yet, she is getting bigger, bigger, and bigger. She used to have some real nice legs. Now she has tree trunks for thighs, and a real big fat butt that's bursting her pants. She also has a flabby gut. Ugh... She blames the fact that she had her womanly organs removed.
Granted this changes a woman's hormones. I know, it happened to the woman in my family. She was gaining weight before that happened. She has to figure out what to do if she hopes to lose weight.
You will have to figure out how to lose weight too. I haven't given up on myself there. I still plan on getting off 20-pounds. I have to. I have a 42 inch waist line. That's bigger than it should be. If it was all muscle I wouldn't be worried. But, it's flab sitting on top of the muscle. It's not good, in my opinion.
Many people think I look OK where I am now. Well, they never saw me before when I was much thinner than I am now.
I am continuing to work on me. You work on you.
Bye for now...

Eat Less Food If You Want To Lose That Layer Of Fat
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.2-pounds.
That's better.
I want you to read this. I didn't write it. I hope I don't embarrass anyone by using it.
You are so right about it being difficult to hold the weight within 2 pounds...and that is a pet peeve I have with Weight Watchers...life time members, which I am, must not be more than 2 pounds above their goal weight if they want to attend the meeting "free"...that is not enough lee way...5 pounds would be more fair.I spent a lot---close to $600---with WW to get my lifetime membership and when I need them most, they want more of my money...that is one of many reasons why I don't like their program. Many of the people that lead the meetings regain the weight...my leader had regained 23 pounds...she is not the exception, more like the rule.I've found that very few who lose on WW still have kept the weight off after 10 years.
OK... So, like many people out there who have a desire to lose weight, this person spent a lot of money. I have too.
I spent money on stuff that ultimately didn't work. I spent hundreds of dollars on a liquid that had Ephedra in it, hoping that somehow this magic elixir would speed up my metabolism. It didn't. It did speed up my pulse rate to well over 100 beats per minute. Which, by the way, leads to a condition called enlarged heart. I didn't know that at the time.
This liquid that I used was supposed to reduce the body in inches because the body was burning fat with the higher metabolism. That's what was advertised anyway. One of the terrible side effects of this product was at night, when I tried to sleep, I couldn't. My hands shook all of the time. I was wired up on this dark, nasty tasting elixir.
Eventually I quit using the product, and did the Doctor Atkins's Diet. Then I lost 60-pounds. Then regained weight after that.
I suppose that we, like all people, are prone to experiment with things. We hope that somehow we will find that MAGIC potion, diet, or exercise that will ultimately slim us down. We get excited about a new thing and think yeah, "This will do it."
We forget at the bottom of many advertisements there is small print that says: These results don't necessarily work for everyone. Diet and exercise are still necessary as a part of the regimen. OH, I don't know the exact wording, but you get the idea.
It's "Diet" and "Exercise" that get the results.
I have a friend who lost many pounds over the summer. He was running like the road runner, rain or shine, he'd hit the trail or track. When his new job put a crimp on his time, and he couldn't run, he regained pounds. I am not talking muscle here either.
The reason he regained that weight was because he didn't adjust down the caloric food count. He didn't "eat less food," as I have been writing, add boredom.
I also write that the exercise is for conditioning. I don't advocate using the exercise to lose weight. Now, you can lose weight by exercising. That's true. You can even shift the body around by exercising. Ultimately though, if you are going to lean out that muscle, then you have to change that food consumption.
I write use exercise for conditioning because when people quit the exercise, many people regain that extra poundage; they aren't burning up the calories anymore.
Oh no, don't write it: "Eat Less Food." Argh, why did I write that? Because it's true.
Dennis Miller Said He Has A Layer Of Fat Now
I listen to the Dennis Miller show sometimes. He was complaining that now he's older and there is a layer of fat on his body. Well, that's what you get for living the good life Dennis. You get to eat what ever you want because money is no object for you. You can buy what you need and then some.
For guys like me, who struggle to make that extra nickel, I don't have that luxury. It's feast or famine for me. So, I am keenly aware of what I can eat, and where I can eat.
For me, It's expensive to walk into McDonald's or Wendy's and buy French Fries, and a hamburger. For you Dennis, that's not the case. At least that's the way I see it.
So what's Denni's problem, and the problem with many people like him? They eat too much food. They also eat the wrong foods.
Eat less food. Push your diet towards the green side, like salads, green vegetables, etc. Eat more protein, and keep that at a reasonable level. Don't gorge yourself on the meats.
Eat those raw fruits, like apples, oranges, pears, apricots, prunes, etc... etc...
Stay away from the sugar unless it's a rare treat. (Easier said than done; I know.) Reduce down the breads, pasta's, and starches in general. These things kick up the insulin levels, which ultimately causes fat increases.
"Eat Less Food." So what if you are rich or poor? Don't eat so much food. You'll lose weight, and you'll stay slender.
Say goodbye to Coke Cola, Mountain Dew, sugared up lemonade, and mixed party drinks. Drink straight water. Yep, drink water until your eyeballs float out of your head. By the way, I haven't had a regular Coca Cola, or any sugar soda pop in over one and a half years.
You'll eventually get rid of that layer of fat that deposits itself everywhere.
Bye for now...

It's Hard To Hold Those Close Weight Tolerances
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183.4-pounds.
This is easy enought to explain. After work yesterday evening I stepped up onto the scale weighing in at 181.4-pounds. I was well hydrated drinking water. After work at around 8:00 PM I ate a stir fry of chicken and mixed vegetables. This explains why I woke up weighing what I did.
I keep writing that the weight keeps going up, and going down. Don't be surprised if this happens to you as well.
It's practically impossible to hold the bodies weight within a 1-2-pound tolerance. There are too many factors that get in the way with maintaining weight so close to that target weight.
I was telling someone who complained that she gained two pounds, she needs to use the bathroom more often. I know that's seems odd, but it's true. Plugged plumming in the intestines can add many pounds over a very short period of time. Also water retention due to illness or consumption of table salt, and sodium could be a problem.
You'll have to diagnose you. You'll have to figure out what ultimately works.

Eat Less Food: There's A Thought
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.4-pounds.
All that extra food that I consumed Saturday at the wedding has found it's way out.
I don't have a lot of time to type my commentary now. I will attempt to complete my thoughts later.
I haven't given up "The Battle Of The Bulge." I haven't quit writing my mantra... "Eat Less Food."
Ahhh, sorry...
Bye for now... Maybe I will be back later on today
Part Two For Today
I said that I might be back. Ummm, what was I gonna say? Oh yeah, this evening I was driving to the College Of Dupage library. I was listening to the talk radio station. I heard Michael Savage, who is the author of many books on Nutrition. He's also a popular radio talk show host.
A woman called in to his show and told Michael she has a son who works out three times a week. He works out and he is still overweight.
Michael Savage responded very abruptly, but aptly stating that losing weight is a discipline. He left her with that and went on to the next call.
Now, Michael is revered as a man many people look up to. He is unbelievable bright. (That's my opinion of course.) He is extremely adapted in many fields of thought which includes: nutrition, biology, human behavior, and of course political thought.
A woman who was lost in thought about her son called in hoping Michael would have an answer for her dilemma.
Here is my thought for Mr. Savage: (I love your show Michael.) Could you please take some time to ask diagnostic questions? Here is why: PEOPLE TRUST YOU MICHAEL.
If someone takes the time to dial a telephone, and then sit on the telephone listening to you while on hold for a much as one hour, then please respond in an appropriate manner.
Here is what troubles me about you Michael: You don't realize that you weren't the only one screwed out there. Since you have the forum, and you are vibrating so well with the general public, have the courtesy to respond in kind.
OH, but I don't have all the degrees Michael Savage has, so I am an ignorant moron. How dare I write this, oh, oh, oh....
Hey, I have lost over 120 pounds in my short life time. I have gone from 260-pounds down to 200-pounds in one year. Then I went back up to 240-pounds. Then I again lost 60-pounds, and am back down to 180-pounds. I am stable at this 180-pound weight.
I lost all this weight without diet pills, and without a doctor. I lost this weight without a diet coach, or a diet club. I am one damned self willed SOB... This is what I think.
My blood pressure went down. My cholesterol is down. My heart rate is down. My blood sugar is normal all of the time now. I did this with very careful consumption of food, which resulted in me losing weight.
My thought is this....
It's not easy to lose weight. Had I been on the other end of the telephone when this woman called me, I would have started asking diagnostic questions.
I would have asked how long has your son been lifting those weights? I would have asked, does your son use a supplement like artificial steroids? (Artificial steroids, and steroid use, hormones are dangerous. Period... end of that story.) I would have asked this woman, does your son have a diet that is conducive to constructing muscle? I could go on and on from there.
Why would I be so inquisitive on my talk show Mr. Michael Savage? Here is why: for every one person calling in that doesn't' have an answer to that burning question, there are 250 people who have the same question. Someone who wanted to get through your highly obnoxious, asinine call screening man had a question that was important for himself, or herself. I've tried calling the show.
I know for guys like Michael Savage that time is short on a talk radio show. I know there are constraints for him. I know. However, there aren't any constraints on you or me day to day as we face this "Nemesis." It's our compulsion to eat like tomorrow will never come.
For we, the one's who wrestle with our wills to stop consuming everything that ours eyes see, and our noses smell, it's a real challenge. It's a challenge that I fear guys like Michael Savage don't relate to.
For the woman who's son is still overweight I would say this. It's good your son lifts weights. This actually helps the body build muscle. As the muscle increases in proportion to the body fat, the metabolism actually starts to increase. The body building also stresses the skeleton of the body. As a result the body responds in kind by building up bone, and bone tissue, to include cartilage in the joints.
That said, your son has to make sure he supplies his body with the building blocks he needs in raw materials. He has to use a calcium supplement, a protein supplement, and vitamins for nutrition. This is so he can have those nutrients, and minerals that might be missing as a result of a hectic, on the go kind of day.
Your son mam, would also have to make sure he takes time to unwind. Yes, he should make sure he is getting at least eight hours of sleep each day. This eight hours may end up getting divided up. But, your son must make sure he is slowing down, and resting.
I could go on from there. It doesn't make sense for someone like Mr. Michael Savage who is so incredibly powerful in his influence to treat a woman, and ultimately a public who worships him, so brisk, and shortly in time and answers.
Bye for now...

Losing Weight Doesn't Depend On A Postive Attitude
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183.4-pounds.
I guess the question is for me: Will my weight keep creeping up now? I imagine someone might think I am being careless with my consumption of food now.
So many people hit their target weight after a long period of time, which seems like forever, being careful about everything they eat. They get to the weight they want then only to slowly forget about what they originally wanted to be.
Over time we all seem to get forgetful or careless about weight. Then slowly all that poundage comes back. Well, I am here to say, no not me. Just because I am up some does not mean I have forgotten, or quit.
Remember, it's only been a little over one year and six months time that I couldn't button my pants anymore. It's only been a little bit of time, one year, that I have been posting on this blog.
Somewhere out there someone checks in on this blog. I imagine it's to see how the former preponderant is doing.
Perhaps, I am being secretly cheered on: Go David, Go David... You can do it.
Perhaps, secretly, I am being envied: Oh David, I hope you lose it. I hope you gather all that fat back, and more.
I don't know.
I do know this: You can do it. You can get that weight off of you. You can get down to a more reasonable weight. If you are over 100-pounds over the normal weight, then it may take two or more years. It may be a struggle for sure. But, all said and done, you can do it.
It doesn't depend on you being "Positive" either. This modern day "positive mental attitude" cult like behavior of people sickens me.
Your disposition, or your attitude has nothing to do with you losing weight. You don't have to wake up smiling ear to ear to lose weight. You may feel like someone who just got run over by a truck, and you can still lose weight. You can.
And, if you lose a significant amount of weight, don't be surprised if your "attitude" automatically gets better, because you'll be feeling better.
I am not a big one on self esteem. I thing many self esteem pushers are really pushing narcissism. The self focus people emphasize is destructive.
I wasn't turning inward to lose weight. I was actually turning outward to lose weight. I had to give up the one thing near and dear to me, and that was food. Yes, I had to forfeit my comfort to gain something better in the end.
How I felt about the process didn't matter. How you feel about the process doesn't matter. What matters is will you take the actions necessary to regain your health? Attitude has nothing to do with it.
I will prove it to you. I will lock you away in a room without food. You'll lose weight. I guarantee you will. Will you be healthy? No, but you will lose weight.
I have hundreds of posts that I have written for this blog. If you have time, you'll find I haven't been pushing for dramatic results losing weight. I advocate, steady, easy does it. This is a life long process.
You may go forward, and then you will go backwards. It's hard to break those old habits. It's hard to unlearn what has been learned, and then use the new knowledge. We all like to remain at the same place.
You may be in an environment where you feel like it's all you. You may be in an environment where you feel like it's not worth it anymore. This is a time to say: God help me. God's not far away. After all, he is omnipresent.
Who's to say, who's life you may change by you changing yours? Who's life might you ultimately save by your example? Who may be out there wondering, "What can I do?"
Who may wake up, because of you?
You don't know. Each life touches anthers. Big, or small, famous, or not, our life touches others.
Give it the one-two-try. Make up your mind to get off those extra pounds.
Ultimately, you'll have to sacrifice. Yep, you'll have to "EAT LESS FOOD."
I know you didn't want to read that. I know. I don't like it anymore than you.
I am better off for it. I really am.
You will be too. Trust me when I write that. You'll be better off.

Wedding, Beer, And Wine, And Up Over The Target
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.6-pounds.
Yesterday I mentioned that I was attending a wedding. Like all events there is food available. I had predetermined ahead of time that I was going to be eating a lot of food. I also consumed beer, wine, and champagne.
I had a ten ounce steak yesterday and I am sure this had an effect on the remainder of the food that would make it's way through the digestion.
The alcohol was as many as empty unproductive calories as I have consumed in many months. Alcohol has a slowing effect on the fat burning processes.
So the added poundage is easily explained.
I had a good time. I hope this marriage will make it through the long rocky roads that our modern world throws at marriages, and people.
As for me, I got the brides garter belt. I wish I had a dollar for every time I got the garter belt, I could go on vacation some where. Does this mean I am finally going to meet Miss Right and get married? Ummm.... Not likely.

Can't Fit All The Fat Clothes Anymore
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.8-pounds.
Today I was invited to a weddding. I haven't been to a formal event for well over a year.
In that time I have lost over six inches on my waist line.
Yesterday I looked in my closet for dress shirts that might fit me, and that were in good condition. I have many dress shirts. Unfortunately now they are nothing but what I call fat-clothes.
These dress shirts are 18 1/2 inch collars. The chest size was for a 48 inch chest and waist line.
I tried a few of them on and they hung on me like tents. I was surprised. I can easily slide three fingers into the collar. I can spread the sides out like that of a flying squirrel spreading its skin to leap into the air.
I went hunting for a new shirt. I had to buy a shirt that was a 16-16 1/2 shirt because my neck is now that small.
I am happy and unhappy at the same time. I am happy that I lost so much weight. I am unhappy that I will have to dispose of so many good clothes. What a bummer. I am also unhappy that now I have to purchase a whole new wardrobe. It's a bummer there too.

I Didn't Quit Maintaining
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182-pounds.
Someone asked if I have given up maintaining my weight. The answer is No, I haven't given up. I am still watching what I eat. I am staying in and around the 2,000 calorie limits per day.
This is a comfortable range to be in for now. The day will come though when I will put my head down, and charge for that last 20-pounds. I want to eventually reach the 160-target for my weight.
The best thing to do is for now, not struggle like I have.
The weight is going to go up and down even in the maintenance mode. I allow that I will be up 2 or 3 pounds around that 180-target range that I am at now. I don't sweat it.
You shouldn't either. I don't advocate killing onesself to get those pounds off. If the weight comes off too quickly that may cause problems in the future.
I will finish these thoughts later...

Keeping Healthy For the Sake Of Others.
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.6-pounds.
I put yesterday's posting into the draft folder. I am not so happy with the way I wrote it.
I was trying to get the point across that we have to survive. That we really need to make a best effort to be as healthy as we can be. This isn't for the sake of selfish gain, but because people around us benefit from you and me.
It's not a real good idea to keep gaining weight by consuming more food than is necessary to live and to survive. If you are overweight then you ought to work on getting to a normal weight.
I am close to my normal weight. I actually have people telling me that I should stay here at the 180-pound target. I differ with that thinking. I have had a ruff time trying to shed these last 20-pounds. I will get there some day.
Bye for now...

You Won't Lose Weight Until You Face The Truth, And Then Do It
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at ????
Again I don't have my scale with me.
If you will notice lately, I haven't been adding much commentary to this blog lately.
One reason is because I haven't had access to a computer.
The second reason is, I am out of ideas.
I wandered around on the Internet and I have seen all of these blogs, and Internet Pages.
I have wondered what I can contribute. Everyone out there has said just about everything that I could say.
Go open some of the links that are listed on the side of this blog. These folks are full of ideas.
I am really just a voice. I am just as many words scribbled onto a page somewhere in a computer. What does it really matter what I have to say and write? I think that I have written just about all that I can write. I think that I have said just about all that I can say.
I am at a family members house. She has some women here that are cleaning the place up, and doing things that she can't do anymore. It stinks getting old.
The one girl was talking about her Weight Watchers. I asked this woman what her goal was. She didn't give to me a straight answer. She said well I have been on weight watchers for three weeks now. The first week didn't count. Then she said that she has been at it for two weeks. Then she said I have lost five pounds.
Great, after all that I got the answer. Then I asked about calories. She said oh no "WE" go by points. Zeke Hale, Zeke Hale, Zeke Hale, ya voe heir commander!
Wait a minute? "WE" who's we? What do they do to you guys at those meetings? Is there some sort of subliminal tape playing in the background? I am serious here.
What is the matter with people these days that they don't have the stomach to think for themselves. It's the "WE" mentality everywhere I go.
I got news for you: Get a little closer to the computer. Are you ready? Idiot, it doesn't matter how many fat grams, or carbohydrates, or points you are eating if you keep stuffing your face.
Great the masters of Weight Watchers sent to you a little book that tells you how many points there are at the buffet table. Great the pages are full of politically correct pages of white people, black people, and Chinese all sitting around eating.
I am looking at the "Eating Out Companion Guide" where is the calories in this thing?
Here is what is upsetting the living day lights out me about Weight Watchers. They are changing the system for counting calories into a points system. They have figured out how to permeate the already established system and now things are turning to points. And the people who are fat, and stupid are buying the garbage. I wrote fat, and stupid.
I lost weight by cutting back on my portion sizes. I lost weight by counting the calories consumed over a set time period. That's that.
No, you pin heads at the Weight Watchers had to turn everything upside down. And I write this because when I talk to these folks they can't figure out ultimately the weight came off because they quit eating so damned much food. That's it.
I don't see Weight Watchers telling the one truth in the whole picture: If you are going to lose weight, you are going to be HUNGRY, HUNGRY, HUNGRY. That's that.
Get it straight: you're fat because you eat too much food. You eat chocolate when people aren't looking. You snack on stuff when the TV is on. You eat when you shouldn't eat. You do stuff that promotes getting fatter like consuming way to much sugary foods. You stimulate your appetite with dull stinking fat free foods, and then you wonder why you can't lose weight.
It's your fault you are fat. It's your fault you're fat. It's you bozo. You did it to you. NO one, did it to you. You stuffed your face. You kept eating. You didn't watch what you were doing. I don't care about your excuses. I don't care if the boss got on your butt today. He didn't stuff a twelve inch sub sandwich into your mouth.
No body made you eat all that food. You ate it yourself. Now, you think you have a magic formula to lose all that weight.
It will come down to one thing: "Eat Less Food."
Finally, I had written a long commentary. I lost half of it somewhere.
I am going to finish with this thought: It doesn't matter if you join Weight Watchers, Fat Busters, Food Fanatics Anonymous, Take Off Pounds Clubs, or read my dribble on the Internet, if you aren't serious about taking the right course of actions.
If you don't develop the heart and mind to lose the weight, and then keep it off the rest of your life, then you are just wasting your precious money, and time.

Don't Expect Support Losing Weight
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Digital-Scale-weighing in at ??? I don't have my scale with me.
Yesterday was Easter. The Family was visiting at Grandma's. Food was laid out in a buffet type setting.
As I was picking around at things, I was carrying a piece of paper. I was writting down what I was nibbling on, and my main course items.
Wouldn't you know, as I was writting and thinking about what I was doing, here came the voices of devil's advocates. These are the onlookers who saw what I was doing and then told me today's a holiday. I don't have to write down what I was eating. I don't have excercise caution today, "It's a Holiday."
Well, as usual, I expected it. Then of course there were the usual conversations where people lied about their weight, and that they are normal weighing in at 320 pounds on a 5' 10" body. Or, that diets don't work. Oh, I guess I could eat another piece of cake, even thought I am diebetic, and on medication. If you're paying attention you'll hear these things too.
It's amazing how people begin to justify themselves as they watch me write stuff on a piece of paper. I was asked yesterday, well how much do you weigh anyway? Then I was told I don't need to lose anymore weight.
Gee thanks. The story is the same at every holiday.
Oh well, that's just the way it is. People are people.
Don't expect anyone, no not anyone, to support you to lose weight. You'll only be disappointed if you find yourself seeking approval trying to lose weight.

Happy Easter Everyone
I haven't posted for two days. Oops....
There wasn't anything that I could do. I wasn't able to get to a computer.
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 179.6-pounds.
That's not bad.
Today is the Easter Holiday. It's a celebration of the Resurection Of Jesus. Well at least to me it is.
It's also one of the times of year, like the Christmas Season, that chocolate is everywhere. Yesterday I was up in Wisconsin visiting my cousin. She had made up a bunch 0f Easter Baskets. There was a tub of chocolate left over that didn't get stuffed into the Easter Baskets.
How do you deal with left over chocolate? Give it to me. I'll stuff it down my mouth. Don't worry, I will polish it off. Hey, don't let the chocolate go to waste.
Actually I didn't do so bad. I chowed down on about five pieces of chocolate.
It's Easter, and I am with family. We will have a bunch of stuff to eat today. Let's just see what happens.

Can't Resist Those Chocolate Easter Eggs
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 180.4-pounds.
This is OK.
Today I went into work. Someone had left a bowl full of the chocolate Easter Eggs on the table in the employee break room. I saw those chocolate eggs in the colored tinfoil and avoided them initially. I was hungry, and started picking at the eggs two at a time. Each time I told myself these would be the last two. Well, they weren't the last two. I ended up eating ten of those little eggs.
Whew, I don't know what got into me. One, I was hungry. Two, I like chocolate Easter Eggs. So, there it was. I couldn't resist.
I am so ashamed of myself. NOT !.
I will just add them to my total calories for the day.

I Ate A Chocolate Bar
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 180.6-pounds.
I couldn't post yesterday. There was no way that I could get to a computer.
Yesterday I didn't pack a lunch with me. I had to go to a local grocery store and buy something to eat.
I was walking through the store isles. In doing so I passed by the Easter Candy. I could actually smell the chocolate. It had an effect on my thinking.
After I ate my sandwich, and I had a bag of potato chips, I still had an urge to eat something. I looked across the street and saw the Walgreens.
I went into the Walgreens, and purchased a large Nestle Crunch Candy Bar. Oh be Quiet, I haven't had something like this in a long time.
This little candy bar was four servings, coming in at 170 calories a serving (680 calories). I ate the whole bar within minutes of opening it.
Well, what happened? "I got hungry for something sweet when I saw that Easter candy, and smelled that chocolate."
I did a calorie count at the end of the day. I came in at just over 2,000 calories. I couldn't eat anything else after that chocolate bar either. That was a lot of calories to consume all at once.
I felt woosie after I ate that thing. It was like pumping pure sugar into my system all at once.
So, where does this leave me today. Well, I was up a little this morning. And before I came to blog, I found myself actually back under 180-pounds.
I can't go eating big chocolate candy bars everyday like that. I view it like eating a couple chocolate donuts all at once.
I am being more careful today.

If You Are Overweight, So What If You Take Fish Oil?
Today I stepped up onto that Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 179-pounds.
That's not bad.
I am still up over my record. But, I am back down under 180-pounds.
This after having eaten so well yeasterday morning. By 9:00 in the morning I had blown past my 2,000 calories for the day. I was given some hotel coupons by a friend and I used them to buy breakfast. I stuffed myself. Oink... Oink...
As a result of consuming so much food, I didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day. Oh, I had a couple glasses of wine when I got home last night. Then I went to bed. I was wiped out.
Fat Ladies Boasting About Eating So Healthy
Yesterday I was sitting at the computer in the business office area of the hotel. Outside of the door stood two large round ladies. These chicks were round. One of them was boasting to the other about how healthy she eats. She was telling her friend that she takes fish oil, and vitamins, and all kinds of supplements. The other said, "Yeah I gotta start doin' that too."
Now, any of you who have been reading my blog for mental nourishment over the last year pretty much know how I would have responded in the middle of that conversation. (Oh I make myself laugh: Mental Nourishment.)
Me: "Uh huh, I can tell lady you are eating real healthy there."
Me: "In fact I can tell you are eating real healthy there for everyone else in your family too."
Me: "I can tell that fish oil is doing you so much good girl."
Me: "Look how smooth and silky your skin is."
Me: "I can tell those vitamins are making you so fit."
Me: "Oh come on girl, where is your sister? She is in those bluejeans with you isn't she?"
I could go on with that dialog. You know what I am getting at. What difference does it make if you take vitamins, but you are round like a beachball?
I took vitamins regularly for years. Maybe, maybe they helped me prevent cancer, and gave me some missing nutrients. They won't help you get fit if you keep eating and getting fatter.
You can swallow a whole bottle of fish oil. If you don't keep down that food consumption, you will still get fat. Getting fat is a serious problem for the heart, and all those surrounding tissues.
In the end, it comes down to one thing: "Eat Less Food."
Well, Mr. Dane, you let yourself get fat. No, I didn't do it on purpose. I was searching for an answer. I am searching for an answer still. I still want to improve more.
If you are going to lose weight; you will have to "Eat Less Food."
Bye for now....

It's Hard To Regulate Eating On The Road
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 180.4-pounds.
That's up over the record, and it's down from yesterday.
When I am out on the road it's not easy to regulate my diet. It's hard because I have only the options of fast food, or bring my own. Since I have no refrigeration, I am left bringing foods that will not perish over a three or four days of time.
In this case, I made hard boiled eggs, some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and granola bars. I really am trying to avoid buying food out on the road.
I have to switch over to my other blog for now. My time is limited today. If I can expand later, then I will.
Part Two Of Today's Thoughts
Over the last three days I have been in and out of my hotel room down here in Springfield, IL. I had a television in my room and I clicked it on to find something that might be interesting to watch.
As I clicked through the television channels, I found many infomercials. The commercials that grabbed my attention the most were three different commercials, produced by three different fitness gurus.
Two of the guys were tall and fit. They were very lean, and they were rippling with muscles. One of the guys was shorter than even the fitness women that appeared with him in his infomercial. All three of these guys were well built and claimed they went from looking like me, fat and dumpy, to being lean and loaded with muscles. They did it all in 90 days. Whew.... I wish....
All of these guys were showing how they have developed fitness routines that are designed to blast away the fat, then build that muscle, and make anyone into a mean, lean, fitness machine.
One guy said that in 90 days you'll be fitter than you have ever been. His routine promised to show you how to trick your muscles so they will fatique out and build like self building concrete on a wall. You'll lose weight, and you'll be fit, just buy my 20 CD's here and I will show you how.
How about I just trick my muscles into lifting this Vodka Martini here to my mouth?
All of the fitness gurus promised that if you'll purchase their program, you'll look like them and their models. Ummm... Yeah...
Well, first of all; like everything that's made with video, it will eventually end up on You Tube, My Space, or Google Video. So, I think I will wait for your videos to show up there. I may have to wait a month for the whole set to eventually be found there, but then I won't be out 200 bucks.
And, I won't have another DVD set that will be sitting around with all of my VHS tape videos that I purchased years before that now sit around collecting dust.
I, like many other sleps out there, have to find the time and space to do my workouts, like jumping up and down, and lifting weights that I don't have. And, I am not so sure the neighbors living below me would appreciate me banging on the floor no matter what time of the day it is.
My neighbor above me thinks she can tread mill and lift weights at 6:00 in the morning. I am very tempted to contact an attorney.
I already know that buying a membership at a gym will be a waste of money because I don't have a work schedule that I can even predict. No one else does either these days.
Let's just say I purchased your program, who can I get to exercise with me that will spurn me on like those hot little fem bots that are jumping around jiggling their jingglies (you know them things that flop up and down) with you oh fitness master?
I think if could even buy your program, I might, like all of the rest of America out there, find the ambition to use if maybe once. I might use it twice. Then it will end up stuffed in the back of my TV cabinet with the rest of the unused exercise videos that I purchased.
I want to know something, on your videos you never mentioned what kind of diet am I going to be consuming? Am I going to have to give up my usual breakfast fare of donuts and coffee? Will I have to forfeit my Sunday brunch with the people from church? You know what I mean: That's where we all go to the buffet and stuff ourselves like hogs going to the slaughter.
Surely Mr. Fitness Guru you aren't implying that I will be able to continue to stuff myself day in and day out with what ever catches my eye?
And how much sweat will I have to sweat anyway? For how long did you say, 90 days, and that's it? Then I can go put on my speedo suit and go to the beach?
I don't know if I can afford to sweat that much. Nope, I don't think I can give up my cinammon buns, my McDonald's Chocolate Shakes, and my daily bag of candy. Nope, I think I'll have to pass Mr. Fitness Guru.
Thanks for the offer. You sure look good. Those little fem-bots that excercise with you look even better.
I think I will keep my money. I know that in the end, I will eventually have to do something that I really don't want to do. Yep, in order for all those muscles to look cut, I will have to give up something that is so precious to me: Food. I don't know if I can do that.
I know that somewhere hidden in your wonderful video you are going to talk about diet.
You are going to tell me to "Eat Less Food." I know that's what's coming.
I don't want to.

Late Meal, And It Showed In The Morning
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 181.4-pounds...
Ooh.....
Yep, it's what it is. I am currently down at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Springfield, IL. Wow, what a nice place. The staff here is gracious.
Last night I missed the evening meal for the group that I am with. They had a banquet. I told one of the managers. She arranged to have a plate brought out to me.
I lifted the cover to see fresh Lasagna, corn, and a cigar shaped roll. For dessert I was given this absolutely delicious dark chocolate cake. Oh, wow, it was so good.
I didn't pay for this meal. I ate it all. It was yummy.
This explains why today I am seeing what it is that I am seeing on the scale.
Check out my other blog when you can. I have to really work at that one. I only have two posts for now. As the thoughts consolidate in my thinking, I will ramp it up.

No Commentary
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 179.8-pounds.
That's back under the 180-pounds mark.
Yesterday I started posting on a different blog. It's still blogspot.com. But, I wanted to air my thoughts about different things. I am keeping this one dedicated to my dribble related to losing weight.
In some of my last posts I made my thoughs known about the Media's favorite darlings. It seems some certain people who used to comment on my blog disappeared. But, that's a liberal for ya, they are tolerant until your ideas and opinions differ from theirs. Then they become intolerant, and actually dispise the person who thinks different. Oops... So sorry....
You can find my first post on my other blog on the left under friends of this blog.

Leaping Lizards, The Weight's Jumped Up
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 180.4-pounds. Leaping Lizard's; That's a leap from yesterday's weight.
It's just stuff that's waiting to leave.
I ate a late night stir fry last night. It was the same meal that I wrote about yesterday.
It's strange. I went all those days with my weight below 180-pounds, all of a sudden, it's jumped up over 180-pounds. This is a tought nut to crack.
Rapidly approaching is my one year anniversary posting on this blog. That time went fast. I went back to my first posts. I can hardly believe I wrote some of the stuff.
I certainly hope that my blathering on with the keyboard of a computer, and the left behind entrails of incohesive thoughts, and wayward diatribe, has helped some poor soul. If not... OH WELL...I TRIED.
And here, let me write out some more intelligent, and tender words.
EAT LESS FOOD... DID YOU WANT TO GET FATTER THAN YOU ALREADY ARE?
Oh, I am so kind. Aren't you glad you clicked on my blog today?
Oh, and did you see my picture? Underneath that flannel shirt is a real buff guy...
Oh, I make myself laugh.

A Recent Picture Of Me
My Family Member Thinks That Weight Watchers Will Help Her Lose Weight
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 178.4-pounds.
That's good.
This ought to give anyone who is attempting to lose weight, and then finally maintain that weight, it's an achievable reality.
A couple weeks ago I decided to go into a maintenance mode for my weight. I got tired of the 1,300 calories I had gone down to. I thought that reducing those calories would help me get onto the road to losing weight.
I ended up being nauseously hungry all of the time. I would wake up in the late night hours fighting hunger. I found that I would have to consume something to cut that hunger. In other words it was a futile attempt to lose weight by getting down the calories below the 1,500 calories that I had been maintaining.
Family and friends have been after me to stay at the weight I am currently at. This is around 180-pounds. It goes up and down some from there. But, it's pretty much been at 180-pounds.
I pushed those calories up to around 2,000-2,100 calories a day. This is what the recommended daily allotment of calories is anyway. Believe me this extra 500 calories has helped tremendously to assuage my nagging hunger pains.
I have been able to hold a stable weight here at the 180-pound target. It's not the target that I ultimately hope to get to. However, for the last year of so, I have really stressed my body trying to get down the 60-pounds that I have.
It's been a long road to get here. I guess my impatience to get that last 20-pounds off had pushed me to try to even reduce my calories more. I was miserable.
I am not telling you to go down so far with your calories that you become miserable losing weight. The reality is we all eat more food than our bodies need to survive. I have written this before.
How many cookies do we really need to satisfy that sweet tooth? How many donuts do we have to fill up with in the morning with our coffee.
Oh, once in a blue moon I will still stop and get myself a donut. But, it's one donut, not the two or three that I used to eat. I add that 350 calorie donut to my food log.
Be serious about your consumption of foods, and drinks. Analyze your consumption. You do it. Don't rely on someone else.
My Close Family Member Has Joined Weight Watchers
I have a family member that wants to lose 40 or so pounds. I think that she should lose more than that. But, she's worried about looking gaunt. She doesn't want to look like a walking dead person. OK...
I told her that I take swipes at Weight Watchers. She asked why? It's expensive. Ultimately what will Weight Watchers do for her? Is Weight Watchers going show up when she gets ready to eat that big bowl of pudding that she likes to eat? Is Weight Watchers going to show up when she makes that trip to the buffet?
Also, I warned her that she may find herself opposing me in the future. She said how? I said that Weight Watchers people have a tendency to become very protective of the Weight Watchers process. When I mention to some Weight Watchers that I know personally that I count calories, they get testy with me. When I get critical of points counting as a complicated system, they say no it's not.
OK, So I have to take the information from the side panel of my bread and run to the computer to see how many points weight watchers assigns bread? I have to consult that weight watchers diet expert on every bite of food that I take? I kid you not. That's crazy.
I asked her keep me updated on her weight loss. I am not so sure that I care to know. I am not even going to look at her literature. I told her that if this helps her to lose weight, then go for it. If it works.
It's still going to come down to her will power. She is going to have to be honest with herself.
I have eaten weight watcher's foods. I still get hungry after eating them. I have followed the advice to apportion certain foods. I still got hungry.
Their food isn't any different. Unless my suspicion that they sprinkle everything with Pixie Dust is really true. I joke about that.
Let's see what happens in the future with that. Ultimately I want my family member to get off the weight, and be happy about it. That's what I have been after her for.
How about you? What will you ultimately do to lose that extra weight? I don't know.
Bye for now...
And that's the way it is...I'm David Dane
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Here is an interesting recipe you may want to try (That is is you like tuna fish):
I made this in my WOK.
- Heat some olive oil up, 3/4 cups minumum, make sure that oil is hot. (BE CAREFUL.)
- Drain two cans of Albacore White Tuna. Very, very, carefully put the tuna in the hot oil. (It will spatter.)
- Cook the Tuna for five minutes and stir it around until it's heated up. (Don't burn the fish.)
- Add on top of the tuna 2 teaspoons of peanut butter.
- Stir in the peanut butter.
- Toss in one cup of chopped, frozen brocolli pieces.
- Toss in one can of green beans.
- Heat the vegetables until the brocolli gets tender.
- Keep moving the mass of food around.
- Pour in one teaspoon of honey. Stir that in.
- Dust the whole mess with some powdered ginger.
- Dust the whole mess with paprika.
- Salt, and pepper.
- Dust with garlic salt.
- Stir all of this together.
- Make sure the brocolli and green beans are heated inside then turn off the heat.
- Finally after the heat is off, pour in 3/4 cups of cream sherry wine. Yep, wine...
- Stir all the ingredients in the wine real well.
- Cover and let that food sit for about a minute and let the wine soak in some.
Serve it between two people. If you're like me, you'll eat that whole thing yourself. I made this last night. Oh, it was so good.
If you make this meal, send me your comments. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Get Objective With That Weight
Today I stepped up onto that Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 179.4-pounds.
That's not bad.
This is good, considering last night at around 8:30 PM I made myself a late night stir fry. This pushed my night time weight up a few pounds.
Another Family Member Is Excited I Lost So Much Weight
I have a family member that wasn't aware that I lost so much weight. I told her that I have lost 60-pounds.
She wanted to know how I did it. I gave her my blog site. I told her my story.
She admitted to me that it is so hard to lose weight. Well, dah...
Hey, food is an absolute necessity. It's our fuel to live off of. This should be common sense.
Food tastes good. With our modern day technology food not only tastes good, but for now, it's very plentiful. Food's everywhere. When you go to fill your car, food is there, candy, sweet rolls, sandwiches, sodas, sugar sweetened teas, and diet drinks. Now, when you go into a clothing store, like Burlington Coat Factory, there is candy there up front. Food is everywhere to tempt us. OK...
It's because companies want us buying that food, and consuming it.
I am not knocking the conveniences of food in America. I am not knocking all the bounty of food. God bless America.
And I have beaten this drum until I am nauseous writing about it.
It's going to come down to one thing, all said and done. It's like this: "EAT LESS FOOD."
OK, I wrote it again.
Hey bozo Dane can't you tell us something new? Well, NO...
Well, maybe I can, on second thought. "Count Those Calories." There...
Are you happy Mr. Blog-checker-in-on-person?
My family member inquired about how I lost this weight. I ate less food. You'll have to eat less food too. Yep, you will have to lose that weight by eating less food.
It's not going to be easy. Whew... I assure you it's not. I like food. I love Sticky-Cinnamon-Buns.
I like Hostess Ding Dongs, and Twinkies, and I could go on with the foods that I like.
I kid you not. I didn't want to give up that food. Nope, I like to cook up a big frozen pizza, and then eat that whole thing. I like taking out a whole quart of Ice Cream and consuming that thing. I do.
Unfortunately, I can't do that and keep the weight off. You probably can't do it either. Otherwise, if you could, you wouldn't be pushing up the numbers on your weight-scale.
Get Objective
Sooner of later you will have to get objective. You'll have to take the emotion out of your weight loss. You'll have to look at the digits on your scale with sober objectivity. It is what it is. Now, what will you do about it?
What is your body weight supposed to be? I don't mean what you think you want it to be. I mean what does an objective chart say your weight should be?
Years ago I had a friend who told me she wanted to be at 155-pounds because of her bottom. She said her butt would disappear. This is a subjective thought process. It's based totally on the way she viewed herself.
There is a video tape called "Buns of Steal." On that tape are exercises designed to build that posterior. It takes tremendous effort to build up those fanny muscles, and to round them out.
This would be the proper way to build a butt that is shapely.
This friend of mine should actually be at around 130-pounds based on her height and her frame.
She is large framed for a woman, only she isn't that tall.
So, get objective. Objectivity with your weight is necessary for losing weight.
Bye for now...
