Hello weight losing fans...
(9262)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 205.2-pounds.
That's down from yesterday.
I had to make this video in a hurry because I am going out to work.
However, just like you I have to figure out what I am going to eat each day.
I posted a video of what I ate for breakfast. It was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with oatmeal bread. I had one cup of raisin bran cereal.
Today I shared my thoughts about being careful about what we eat. Even something as small as a sugar coated piece of gum, or a small shot of creamer can added extra calories that we lose track of.
It's these mindless, or unknown sources of calories that slow up our progress.
It's hard to develop good habits. Unlike bad habits that are so easy to develop and are hard to break, good habits are hard to develop, and are easy to lose.
The pseudo-psychologists will say once you develop a habit you have it for life. That's not true. Good habits are hard to develop, and they can be lost very easily.
Bad habits are easy to develop, and they are hard to lose, or break.
That's because it's in human nature to mess things up.
If you want to hear my brilliant words of wisdom: Click on the video.
If not then have a nice day....
Below is my video for what I ate today for breakfast.

Hunger, And More Hunger; We All Struggle With It
Hello weight losing fans...
(9247)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 205.6-pounds.
That's the same as yesterday.
Today I videoed my brunch again. It was different than yesterday's meal.
It came in at 835-calories.
I also made another short video that I added to this blog post. I talked again about the "Hunger Monster."
Over-and-over again I have written in the past that hunger is the number one problem for we the weight losers.
If we're stuffed and satisfied, then there is no temptation to overeat. But, if we're hungry, then anything can temp us.
That's all for now...
And that's the way it is...I'm David Dane

Oh That Never Ending Nagging Hunger: "I HATE IT."
Hello weight losing fans...
(9208)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 205.6-pounds.
Today I posted again my breakfast. I cut back the calorie count by half. That's only because I ran out of bacon.
Today's video is a short one...
Again I Talked About Hunger
This isn't very popular to talk about. I have written about it many times before.
That nagging sense of empty feeling that creeps up within a matter of hours after eating, and can drive someone to open the refrigerator in search of something to eat.
It's that empty feeling that drives someone to eat a bunch off snacks before thinking about what he's doing.
Yes it's hunger. It's my number one enemy.
You'll have to learn to resist hunger. That is if you really are determined to lose weight.
You'll have to ask a bunch of questions of yourself:
1. Did I eat today already?
2. Is this food that I really need?
3. Will this help me get to my target, or weight loss goal?
4. Will I go over my calorie count for the day?
These are just some of the questions that I ask myself.
If you wish to know more, the please view today's video post.
That's all for now...

More About Keeping Tabs On Those Calories
Hello weight losing fans...
(9187)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 206.2-pounds.
That's down from yesterday.
Today I had another large breakfast.
See the Video if you're curious.
I found the video editor; thanks to a friend.
Today is a rather long video. It's two parts.
Just remember that I am still learning how to post these videos and to edit them.
Today's video is a recap of my calorie count for yesterday.
I also added in an admonition to ignore people who comment about what you are doing with your weight lose program.
That's all for now...

They Try To Effect Our Three Senses, And Then We Get Tempted (Two Videos)
Hello weight losing fans...
(9172)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 207.2-pounds.
That's down from yesterday.
Did you want to see what I ate for breakfast today?
Here is the video that I took. It's loaded up with fat, and calories. Oh David, how could you do that?
How could you eat that kind of food? Aren't you worried about the fat?
Well, NO... I have said that it is the total calories (amount of food) that's consumed.
If I am careful with my calories, then of course my fat grams, sugar grams, and other miscellaneous foods that everyone is paranoid about fall right into line with the appropriate levels.
If you desire to see what I ate and hear my commentary, then open up the video below.
Then, Of Course, You'll Want To Hear My Unbelievable, Dynamic Video filled with Wisdom that will launch you into the stratosphere of weight loss infamy. (Oh I make myself laugh.)
In this video I posted I talked about my calorie count for breakfast; 785 calories. With one cup of whole milk, my calorie count was over 935 calorie for breakfast. And, that was because I added on a 150 calorie cup of whole milk.
Oh David, Why would you do that? Ummm, I was hungry.... ! OH DAVID.... !!!!!!!!!
I also talked about in this video about our three senses that effect us: Sight, Smell, and Taste.
I mentioned that I ask myself questions. Do I really need to eat this today? Did I eat Breakfast already? Will what I am about to eat help me get closer to my goal?
If you want to see what had to say, please open up the video, and see my brilliance... (Oh I make myself laugh some more.)

Gee, How Many Calories Are In Cereal Anyway? (Video)
Hello weight losing fans...
(9151)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 208-pounds.
Today I am posting a video that is a continuation of what I was talking about yesterday.
I showed just some of the food that I eat for breakfast, and what the calorie counts for those items were.
The calories add up fast when consuming high carbohydrate filled foods like cereals that are coated with sugar for flavor.
Here you can see a photograph of one page of my log book. It's not complicated.

You can see that I keep a very simple list in my log. I put the day of the week, the date, and the weight, along with a list of the kind of food, with the calories added up.
That's all for now...

Eating Out At The Tailgate Party, Or A Special Event
Hello weight losing fans....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 210.4-pounds.
In today's video I showed some of the foods we may encounter at a party, a get together to watch a game, or just a special event.
I demonstrated using a hamburger patty, hamburger bun, some peanuts, along with some breaded chicken pieces, how quickly the calories add up when we endlessly eat out as some kind of special event like a tailgate-party.
When we snack mindlessly on peanuts, chips, pretzels and other snack foods, the calories add up fast. These snacks may be the food that puts over the cliff for our weight loss calorie count for the day. That is, if we are counting calories at all.
Watch the attached video if you want to see my smiling face.

No Video Blog Today
Hello weight losing fans...
(9121)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 210.4-pounds.
That's the same that I was about a week ago when I last posted.
I don't have a video post today.
I must tell you that I spent Two nights, and three days at my cousins. I didn't keep a written record of my food consumption for Sunday evening, all of Monday, and all of Tuesday. When I got up Wednesday, I was able to weigh again, and write my food intake down. I tried to recall what I ate on the other days. It was futile, I missed a lot of stuff.
I did go overboard, which explains why I am not further down with my weight loss. I haven't been making any videos either, partially because I have been getting comments from friends and family who think I should use a script, and that I should stop trying to be funny.
I have also, like the writing thing, run out of ideas. It's hard to come up with a new video.
There aren't too many different ways to say, "EAT LESS FOOD."
That's it in a nutshell. I can't keep eating huge amount of food, and expect to see my weight remain normal. You can't either, especially as we age.
That's all for now...

Gastrointestinal-By-Pass Surgery; Why Are You Doing It?
Hello Weight Losing Fans...
(9018)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 210.4-pounds.
That's down from yesterday.
Today I went into a little bit of a diatribe about gastrointestinal-by-pass surgery. This is the surgery where the doctor reroutes the stomach piping and produces a small pocket.
I mentioned that I am not a doctor and that my commentary is my personal opinion.
I am not in favor of this kind of surgery. I would rather see someone use a modified version of the "Doctor Atkins Diet," than to summit to this kind of butchery.
I have written about it in the past. If you wish to see what I had to say just open up my you tube post.
(Unfortunately the video that I was trying to load was too long. You tube wouldn't publish it. So, today the is not video.)

Gee, My Weight Has Jumped Up Again?
Hello weight losing fans...
(8948)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 214.8-pounds.
Oh, oh what happened?
I don't know why I am gaining more weight. I have been using test strips to measure Ketones. The strips have been changing color, which means that I am burning fat.
I suspect that my body is retaining water. This is in my opinion as a response to trying to lose weight with a low calorie diet, along with a higher ratio of protein intake.
See the video if you wish.

I Am Burning Fat, Then Why The Gain?
Hello weight losing fans...
(8928)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 213.8-pounds.
Now that's up from just a couple days ago. In this video post I explain that I don't know why my weight has jumped like this. It might be water retention.
I also explained that I am burning fat. I ran a test strip through my urine and found that it is turning purple. This means I am burning fat.
If you wish to know a little more then please take the time to watch the video.

My Second Post For Today, Some Old Photos
Hello weight losing fans...
(8908)
This is my second posting for today.
I discovered some photos of me from the past. These pictures of me were taken around August 2000. This is when I weighed in at 260-pounds.

This first photo was taken when I was 9 1/2 years old by my brother Arthur who was exercising his photographic genius. This is me against the bales-of-straw with my twin brother Daniel holding up the bow and arrow.

Cookies For Breakfast? Oh The Evil Of It.... (Video)
Hello weight losing fans...
(8902)
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 213-pounds.
That's up from yesterday. Oh, the evil, I must have done something wrong.
Today I was talking about what I ate for breakfast this morning. I had a bag of Corn Chips, and two large peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. This dynamic breakfast came in at over 700 calories for the morning. OH that was so evil David.
I also made a little mocking of some of the criticism that I have received for writing this blog. That's right someone had the nerve to criticize me for a weight loss blog. In her words, "It's boring."
That's right, it's boring. It's boring, and it's tedious trying to lose weight. I want you to know that you aren't the only one who struggles.
If you have the ability to, please do take the time to watch my boring video. Just remember don't fall asleep while you are watching this boring episode.
Bye for now...

Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 212.8-pounds.
That's up from yesterday.
I had video that I thought I might want to post today. Only it was very strong in it's content. In other words, it didn't look really friendly to me after I thought about it.
So, I am not going to post it.
I had someone criticize my video from yesterday, and I was told how horrible I looked in the video. I was also told that I was wasting my time posting on the internet.
This person considers herself a very observant person with great people skills. Well, I went on a bit a tirade about it in my video. I decided I am not posting it. Today will be a regular day.
No VIDEO.

Today I compared Sugar Water To Soda Pop (Video)
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 212-pounds.
Oh wow, I wasn't even trying.
Today is my third video post. I am talking about what we drink. In this case I am talking about Soda-pop.
I made a little scientific demonstration using twelve ounces of water, along with 10 teaspoons of white sugar.
Simply stated 10-teaspoons of white sugar times 15 calories per teaspoon is 150 calories.
I poured the white sugar into the water, and then stirred the contents up.
I compared the 12 ounces of sugar water to a twelve ounce can of regular Soda-pop. If you are interested then tune into the video. If you don't have a way to watch this... awww, sorry.

My First Attempt At Video Blogging
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 214.2-pounds.
That's better than yesterday. It's still a long way from that 180-pounds I was at just a couple of years ago.
A couple of days before Christmas I was out purchasing gifts for family members. I decided that I too should have a Christmas gift. So I purchased this cute little digital camera. I have wanted one for a long time, yet have always resisted getting one.
Today I decided to try video recording some comments that I wanted to post here on this blog.
All of one person may want to watch. But, it's here for the world to see.
There are two parts posted because I got interrupted by a telephone call. I don't know how I am going to continue with this in the future. We shall see.

Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 216.2-pounds.
That's down from yesterday, but it's a long way from 180-pounds where I used to be.
Yesterday I wrote my first article for 2011. My point of that article was; no one can lose that weight for you.
All the support systems in the world won't work unless you find it somewhere in yourself to be motivated enough to lose weight and keep it off.
I mean it....
Bye for now...

No Body Knows But You
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 216.6-pounds.
Yep that's up, up, and up.....
So, what's that to you?
I repeat what's that to you?
Here is what I mean. Does it make any difference to you if I weigh 180-pounds or 200-pounds?
NO, it doesn't make any difference in your life.....
Let me let you know a little secret: "I don't give a darn what you weigh." I mean it... If you want to go out there and stuff your face with all kinds of calories; I don't care......!!!!!!!!!!
Who should care? YOU, that's right you should care about you. NOT your wife, not your spouse, not your brother, not your dog should give a rat's tail what you stuff in your mouth.
I have a friend that thinks it's cute to remind me that I eat junk. My friend isn't around me at all to watch what I eat. None of my friends are, but they have the nerve to criticize and make fun of me regaining weight. As if that's going to help me change my behavior?
I haven't been writing that much about this "Weight loss thing." Here is why; how many ways can you say, "EAT LESS?" How many articles can I publish that would help you?
NONE, will help you....
That's right none will help you. NO ONE can stand over you 24 hours a day and make you modify your diet. Who wants too? No one except that WITCH Michelle Obama.
It's 2011: I didn't make a "New Years Resolution." Especially if I think I may have to pacify some nutty fat person that's hanging on every printed word of mine.....
OH that's right, don't hang on my words. I don't hang on yours. That's right fat folks, nothing, absolutely nothing you can write to me inspires me to lose more weight. Here is why, I forget just about everything you write anyway.
Not only is that so, but most every fat person that has commented on my blog that has ever crossed verbal swords with me has regained some of the poundage.
I have never pretended that losing weight was easy. I have never said that I have arrived. I have always warned that I too could lose it.
So take my advice.... Ignore the critics, and Ignore the "friends." That's right, because it will get real old having someone reminding you that you are on a diet....
IN FACT... If you want to lose weight this year, don't tell a blinking soul. Just do it.......
My friends have become the worst about "my weight loss." My family makes the comments; "Are you still losing weight?" HEY are you still a moron?
I have tried to be kind. I have tried to diplomatic. I have tried... But, the friends, and family will make comments that "I am eating junk all the time." Then they laugh, and say, "I am only kidding."
NO you aren't kidding, you're making a dig at me for some reason.... The same goes for you.....
HEY FATTY..... Lose some pounds....
Bye for now...
Happy New Year.... FATSO, OH David how could you?
Just one more thing; if you are like me you don't like messing with the "word match programs," that make it possible to post a comment. Well, I am sick of freaks posting links to pornography from China, and else where. I didn't write this so some pervert could link my posts to pornographic web sites. Sorry about that...

Eating A Bag Of Candy In One Day Hurts The Cause
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 212-pounds.
Oh boy....
This is what I get for go off the wagon.
On my birthday my aunt gave me two bags of Nestle Crunch Bars. They were the snack size bars.
Well, I had one bag sitting in the refrigerator yesterday. When I opened up the refrigerator I saw the bag. I opened it, and began dipping into it through-out the day. By night fall the bag was empty. That cost me 1,500 calories.

Muscle Mass, or Fat....
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 210.2-pounds.
Yikes...
I have been doing calistenics every morning when I wake up. I have been increasing the repetitions as the weeks go on. It seems like I am gaining some muscle mass. Am I seeing muscle gain or just fat?

Is Resistance Futile?
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 207.4-pounds.
Yesterday I was at 208-pounds.
It's the Christmas Season....
And all around is the candy and cookies...
It's hard to resist taking a fistfull of the goodies and eating them down...
But, if I am ever going to see that 180-pounds again, then I must, must resist.
That's all for now...

I Still Write Everything Down
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 209.2-pounds.
I surprised about that; considering last night I got through with work around 9 PM and then went to McDonald's for a late meal. I was starving.
The other day I was talking to a fellow worker of mine. We were discussing my boss who is a very big, fat guy. He's so big his butt hangs out of his pants.
My fellow worker doesn't really care if he loses his job, so he confronted my boss about his weight.
My boss copped a plea that he can't help himself. He said I eat all of the time because I am so hungry. He said that he wakes up late at night and goes to the kitchen to eat.
Ah poor guy.....
It sounds to me like this is a guy that never learned how to suffer a little bit. Yeah, this man is a preacher man filled with the "Holy Spirit," and he can't control himself. I say that sarcastically because the guy is a bit of a jerk. He's also a profound liar.
I told you this story because I hear this from people a lot. "Oh, I can't control myself," some say.
Hey, you better. I am no different than you. I get hungry. I like to eat the goodies. I get tempted to overeat. I do too.
What makes you think it's easy to lose weight? Self discipline is hard. It's especially hard to continue to do it when everyone else is letting go.
I still weight myself just about everyday. Today I have my scale with me at the hotel. I wanted to see where I would be with my weight today.
I still write down most everything that I eat. I have to keep a watch. And, I forget what I have eaten throughout the day. If I don't write it down then I tend to overeat.
My written record helps to remind me that I have eaten....
It's hard. It just is, but you have to cut off those pounds.
Bye for now...

Losing Again Seems Like An Impossible Task
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 209.8-pounds.
That's better than my last post.
It's been hard lately, real hard, to lose that weight. It's been hard going to work all day long, with long, long days, and avoid eating because of hunger and fatique.
I long to get back to even 200-pounds. But it just seems like such an impossible task.

Slow Weight Gain Creap
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 212-pounds.
Yes, that's for real. I have eaten too much food over the weekend, and the weight is packing on.
I have now regained half of what I lost 3 years ago. I have written that most people regain that weight after a while. Here is the thing; I've been keeping written records. I have watched it slowly come back on.
It's hard though to resist yummy food. It really is. And, it's hard to fight the hunger.
Oh well, I just have to keep at it.

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at (are you ready?)
211-pounds... YIKES.
Yep this weekend was a blowout. I was out of town, and with a group that went to the buffet twice. I was working long days, and didn't want to put up with the incessant hunger.
As you can see this is the result.

Please Pass The Honey, Honey!
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 204.8-pounds.
A Tablespoon Of Honey May Be Good For Your Brain At Bedtime.
Yesterday I was in the public library. I was going between the book racks looking for something.
I came across a book about, of all things, Bee Hive Collapse Syndrome. I was paging through the book, and in the back it was listing all the benefits of consuming honey.
One of the benefits that was listed was honey may actually help prevent the death of brain cells in young children.
The book stated that brain cells die because they run out of glycogen. In small children because they grow so rapidly, they consume large amounts of glycogen in the cells.
If a child goes to bed hungry that means his or her cells are low on glycogen. Some tests have shown children in developmental stages of life can actually have slower brain development because they are losing brain cells as fast as they make them.
The book was emphatic that the human cell dies immediately as soon as it's source of glycogen is gone. Brain cells are especially vulnerable to this phenomenon.
The conclusion was that honey has the two essential sugars that are necessary for glycogen production. Tests showed that children who were given a couple of table spoons of honey before sleeping resulted in children sleeping sounder, and with less restlessness.
Their conclusion was before you tuck Mary or Johnny in for the night, serve them up two tablespoons of honey. This will help the body keep just enough sugar on hand to supply the body with essential glucose.
Years ago I wrote that at night when I was hungry I used to slurp down a Table Spoon of honey. I got away from that.
My reasoning about this is I am going back to taking honey at night before I go to bed. Who knows, with my going to bed at night hungry, I may have actually killed what few brain cells that were left.
Bye for now...

Exercise And Diet Will Get The Results You Want
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 203.8-pounds.
That's better than the last two days. It's no where I want it to be.... My goal is still 180-pounds.
Today I was talking with a friend. This guy is an energizer bunny. He just loves to get out there and run for exercise. As we were talking he boasted that he lost a pound. Goodie......
I asked, "How did he do it?" He admitted that he exercises. But, he tossed in one more element into that weight loss mix: (And this is what I have been preaching.) "Eat Less Food." He admitted that he's had to cut back on his food consumption.
Well, well, well, well I thought; he's finally gotten it.
All along he's been telling me that I have to exercise. That will burn those extra calories.
Yeah, maybe. My experience has been that as I was running, my appetite increased accordingly.
Last year when I did some running, I was actually getting hungrier.
I am not knocking exercise. I knock the idea that exercise is the sole discipline needed to lose weight. I know the theory behind it. If someone burns more calories they will lose weight.
My contention is, and has been that someone must watch as carefully how much food is being eaten.
We all eat more than we should. By that I mean, we consume more calories than we need to live on. Short of having a really active lifestyle, we all probably should cut our calories in half.
We should eat only one or two pieces of bread a day. We should only consume about 6 ounces of some kind of meat each day. We should all eat more fruits and vegetables than we do.
When I say we should eat more vegetables, we should also monitor the calories on those as well.
I don't eat as many green vegetables as I did years ago when I first got started with this weight loss program. I used to eat a lot of green beans, and salads, along with my regular foods.
Hey, it's tough to stick to the weight loss program. We all have those days when we falter. It's normal.
I have been working diligently to get back on the wagon and stay there. Yet, last night I ate just a little bit too much Strawberry Ice Cream. I knew I shouldn't have purchased that the other day. So, I blew it..... Yah, Yah, Yah........
I am human... It wasn't me, it was temporary insanity.
That's all for now...
And that's the way it is, I'm David Dane

Weight Jump Today...
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 205.2-pounds.
What happened? Yesterday happened. It a long, long day at work. I only made myself a couple of chicken sandwiches.
I ate some of the food that was given to me by the group I was with. That extra food broke the bank.
That's all for now...

Three Down Days; Which Is A Good Thing
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 202.2-pounds.
Wooo Hooo.... !!!!!!!
Honestly, I wondered if I would hit that so soon because last night I was waiting for some people on the bus, and was snacking on chocolate bear cookies. I ate two of those snack size bags, and that put me over my calorie count for the day.
I told you I have a sweet tooth.
This morning I ate a big chocolate chip cookie as part of my breakfast meal; Oh David... !!!!!
Let's see what that will do for me in the morning.
Tomorrow I am going to be getting up at 2 AM in the morning. I am going to be at work by 4 AM.
Let's just see what I look like in the morning.
Bye for now...

Another Down Day; Which Is Actually A Good Day
Hello weight losing fans....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 203.2-pounds.
Can you believe that? It wasn't 10 days ago that I was tipping the scale at 211-pounds.
Woo Hoooo ... !!!!!!!!
Question: How long will this last? Oh that seems like such a pessimistic question.
The reality has been I was down to 200 pounds a couple months ago. Then I turned around and started back up the poundage scale again. It was a very short time before I gained 10-pounds.
I tried to think what was causing this. I looked at my logs and thought, "Empty calories."
Where are the empty calories?
The answer was: I ate too much bread, one too many pieces of cake and, I was drinking beer at night after work.
I hate cutting out the beer. The issue is though, for every bottle of beer I drank, that was 145 empty calories.
Those two or three bottles of beer were impeding me from losing.
I already new this. But, I didn't want to give up the beer. And, I didn't want to give up the wine either.
If I was going to get back to where I should be, then I have to go back to sacrificing like I did in the past.
HEY......... You won't lose weight if you don't give up some of the goodies.
You won't lose weight if you aren't keenly aware of everything you drink; milk, orange juice, cool-aid, beer, or wines. Liquids contains calories, all except water, and non sweetened coffee, or teas.
You won't lose weight if you aren't keenly aware of all the food you eat.
You won't lose weight if you don't keep a count of every little calorie.
You have to figure out what you eat and drink. You cannot go absent minded throughout the day popping stuff in your mouth.
Let me tell you it's a pain in the back side. I get tired of writing stuff down, and I've been doing it for four year.
Good Habits are hard to develop, and are easy to break. Bad habits are easy to develop, and are very hard to break.
You are going to have to develop good eating habits. Then for the rest of your life you will always have to be ready for that moment in time when your flesh and will collapse.
That sounds pessimistic. But, it's the truth.
Most people who lose weight, regain it within a few short years.
This is a never ending battle.
Bye for now....

Nobody Understands Your Plight But YOU
Hello weight losing fans....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 204.2-pounds.
Woo Hoo..... !!!!!!!
Try To Explain Why I Do What I Do
I don't know how many people still follow my blog these days. I haven't had any comments lately. Maybe that's because I put such restrictions on the comments. That's because I was getting links to Porno-graphic web sites in the comments. I had to tighten up the restrictions.
I wrote years ago that your weight loss program is really nobodies business but yours. Now, maybe some people need a mentor to coach them to lose weight. I don't know.
For me that doesn't work. When the mentor is gone, or the coach is gone, or the device that's used to lose weight is gone, then back comes the weight.
I used to comment back and forth with someone who swore by weight watchers. He got offended when I told that it was an over priced organization. Ultimately the weight watchers program fails. Weight Watchers uses monetary rewards to incentivize people to lose weight. The biggest incentive being the weight watcher who achieves the weight loss goal no longer has to pay dues at the meetings.
I could solve that problem. I could fill a room with fatties and have them tell stories about how they tried to lose weight. That's Weight Watchers in my estimation.
Weight Watchers is far too complicated with it's points system in my estimation. People have to consult the Weight Watchers charts to get their point values for their food consumption.
I will make it easy:"Hey you're eating a donut for breakfast, and that's a lot of Calories. That better be all you eat."
With these last couple paragraphs, I never reached my point. I have a friend who is a coffee affection ado. For him, it's coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee. all the time. OK, that's good for him.
For me, I don't like paying for expensive bags of coffee. I get tired of paying nearly two dollars for a cup of coffee at the 7-11; and over two dollars for a cup of coffee at McDonald's.
The price of a cup of coffee has jumped since I used to pay just 30 cents for a cup.
But, it's not just the price of coffee that gets me. I am tired of the bitter taste. I think the only reason I drink coffee is because I experience a boost of energy from it.
The bottom line is: I am tired of drinking coffee. (At least for now.)
And, It's been a bear weening myself off of the stuff. The diet soda was tough to ween off of too.
The side effects though are: 1) I had to use the bathroom often. 2) I had the jitters. 3) I could feel the afters effects of a tired, worn out feeling because when the caffeine wore off I would drag 4) I think the caffeine stimulated my appetite.
When I told this to my friend, his response was that caffeine suppresses appetite.
Well, I don't think he really understands.
When I drank coffee, I always had to use cream, or some sort of cream substitute, and a sweetener. In my case I was using Splenda most of the time.
But, I've quit the Splenda. Sugar in my coffee is a better alternative. Yet, there's that problem: Sugar is empty calories. Sugar itself can become addictive.
I have fought my sweet-tooth for years in an effort to lose weight. That being so, I don't need to sit there and put sugar in my coffee.
As I just wrote: I am tired of coffee. I am working at drinking water. For a treat: I drink a juice, like orange juice. I limit that.
I Couldn't Sleep At All Last Night
I woke up this morning early around 2:30 AM. I layed in bed tossing and turning. My stomach was growling. I was hungry.
I realized that I wasn't going to fall back to sleep until I could get rid of the hunger. I thought about what could I eat that would be OK. I had Ice Cream in the Freezer (Evil Ice Cream!), and I thought about that. NOPE that wouldn't do.
At 3:30 I decided I was just to hungry to sleep. I got up poured a cup of cold milk and then sliced up an apple. I drank the milk, ate the apple, then went back to sleep.
I got up and saw what I weighed, and was pleasantly surprised. I thought sure that would have added to me a pound in the morning.
Sometimes, Sometimes, I just have to get something in my stomach. It hurts to wait. I can fast, but then I won't get any sleep either.
Here is my suggestion: Let's say it's late at night. If you are like me, you're rumbly-in-the tumbly. If you are like me, KNOW there is no way you're going to fall back to sleep, then try to think strategically.
Let's say you are an Ice Cream Nut. (I am one.) At night you have to have the Ice Cream. Well, did you ever think of trying yogurt instead?
Let's say you're one of those people who must have something before bed. Did you ever think of some chicken slices, or ham slices, and an apple?
Did you ever think: Since you are one of those people who must eat at night, maybe divide your dinner in two parts? That's right, save some of the dinner for later. Make use your evening meal as late night doggy bag.
These are just some ideas.
Hey, we're in the same boat. My boat has sprung another hole. I regained 30 pounds. That sucks.
I was 180-pounds for well over a year. Then, something happened. I began to regain those pounds. (I blame my cousin, I blame the government, I blame my friends. Just teasing.)
Imagine if I didn't keep written records. Which I do on most days. When I get to my cousin's up in Wisconsin then I blow it. YIKES.
Imagine if I wasn't in the habit of weighing myself every day like I do. I would blow up, and up like a not so "Beautiful Balloon." Then I would wake up again back up over 240-pounds. YIKES.....
And as my friend said, "No one would want to see me naked."
That's all for now folks...
And that's the way it is... I'm David Dane

I Am Up And Doing Better
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 205-pounds.
After having spent all day in bed on Saturday, and not eating anything more than a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast, I discovered a significant gain.... I lost some weight.
I was still achy on Sunday when I made my last post. I was still some what achy on Monday.
My appetite has returned with a vengeance. So it's back to the same old battle. I try to eat something that will be healthy and keep those calories down.
That's all for now....

Was It Food Poisoning Or Was It The Flu That Made Me Sick?
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Scale weighing in at 205.4-pounds.
Yesterday I came down sick with some sort of flu virus, or was it food poisoning? I had muscle pain, and a fever at 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit. I had a real bad headache that lasted from when I woke up in the morning until early this morning.
I went to work and I could barely sit in my seat because my back and buttocs hurt so bad. So I dragged out 6 hours of work. I then went home and went immediately to bed.
I slept from 11:30 in the morning until 4:30 PM, at which time, I took a hot bath and soaked. I was hoping to sweat out in the bath the virus. I went back to bed and slept until 7:30 PM, at which time, I got up and took another hot bath. I soaked for over half an hour.
Another one of the things I struggled with all day was continuous heartburn. I was not vomiting, but my stomach had this volcanic burning in it that kept producing burning bile that would come up my throat.
I had no appetite anymore, and felt like I didn't dare eat anything more than the peanut butter on a bun that I ate for breakfast.
The day before some of my patrons on the bus gave to me a big bag of Greek food. There was some stuff in there that I didn't recognize including a aluminum foil tray of something that looked liked vomit.
Later that night I began to experience some strange symptoms which included heart burn which wouldn't go away even with my hydrochloric acid pills. I began to feel a little bit achy.
The next day (yesterday) I woke up with a full blown headache and progressively worsening muscle pain.
I am glad I only worked part of the day because I went home to sleep. And I am glad that I am off today because I am still recuperating, and don't know if I will have a relapse.
I don't usually get sick. The last time I had symptoms like this was well over a year ago. If I get a scratchy throat I usually start gargling with salt water, and take some cough drops, then soak in a hot tub. This was different, it came on suddenly, and there wasn't anything that I could take to treat the symptoms.
Well, hopefully I am getting better. I still have some aches and a slight headache. But, I think I will be ready to go to work at 5 AM tomorrow morning.

Not Where I Wanted To Be By Now, Ugh....!
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 207.8-pounds.
That's down from just a few days ago...
Needless to say this is just a little bit frustrating.
I have been working at getting back down to 180-pounds. I thought for sure I would have been there by now. Only, I like anyone, let my appetite get the best of me. It hasn't helped any to be drinking a few cans of beer everynight either. I am out of the beer for now. Well, that's until I get another customer that doesn't want to carry back into the hotel, or crate it around.
Then I will get the beer, and I will consume it. Oh, I am so evil....
That's all for now...

I'm Still Writing It Down
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 206.6-pounds.
Not so long ago a friend of mine asked me if I still list out everyday the foods that I consume, and the calorie count. I told him that I still do. He was surprised at that considering I have regained a little over 20-pounds. He thought that I had given up the vigil.
This is true for most people. I wrote years ago that this is the "Battle of the Bulge." That we must never give up our vigilance, even if we backslide some like I have.
I never gave up the idea that I would get back down to 180-pounds. I still want to get back there.
It's not easy that's all.
Bye for now...

When you have the time; will you watch this?
Just see if it doesn't help you to get some inspiration in your case.

Weight Trimmed Because Of Being Awake All Night
Hello weight losing fans....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 202.6-pounds.
Oh, how in the world did that happen?
I am really curious to know.
Could it be because I was awake most of the night driving to Fort McCoy Wisconsin, and then flip-flopped back to Chicago all with-in one 8 hour window? Could it be it took every stinking ounce of my energy to remain alert, and stay awake?
I do think that's the reason. Yep, driving and remaining alert takes a lot of energy because all it takes is one dumb mistake, and a bus filled with people could be rolling down an embankment, or piling into the back of some obnoxious driver in a squirt sized car with Obama stickers on it's rear deck. Believe it or not, as I approached Milwaukee Wisconsin, and Madison Wisconsin, I saw a lot of Obama hope bumper stickers still brandished on cars. And, Liberals are some some of the rudist people found on the Highway.

Is Diet Coke Causing Leg Cramps?
Hello weight losing fans....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 203.8-pounds.
Yes, that's down one pound from yesterday.
You guys missed last week when I couldn't get to the library to post my blog. I actually got down to 200-pounds on I think Tuesday. I don't have my log sheets in front of me to see what it was. My memory doesn't go that far back anymore, so darned if I can tell when it was.
But, I can surely say I am keeping a steady weight here just over 200-pounds. Now this is way off my records of just a couple years ago. But, I am not back up there floating around at 210-pounds like I was. That was frustrating in a strange sort of way. For some dogged reason I couldn't blast the 210-pounds.
Here is what I did to break that barrier. I literally went on an all protein diet for just about a week. I ate nothing but eggs, bacon, and fish for just about a week. Then on one day I fasted without food for 24 hours. Boom that dam broke. Down came the pounds.
Now, I am sitting just over 200-pounds, and I want to break this dam. I wish I could get back to 180-pounds again.
The obstacles include family members and friends who absolutely insist I eat what they are eating. Did you ever meet people who hate to eat alone? Or, like my cousin, can't figure out why I don't want to eat the piles of food she makes for me?
My cousin will lets her wafer of a son go with little meals. In fact he'll complain if she makes him eat. This is why he's a tall, skinny kid with no structure. He's just tall (6' 3") and skinny like a green bean.
It's not easy to be around people and try to lose weight.
Like always though, I will stick by the mantra and say, "Eat less Food."
DIET COKE (SODA'S) MAY BE CAUSING YOUR LEG CRAMPS
This is a change of topic off of the weight losing posts. I think it should be carefully considered though.
I have been for months now making a strong effort to wean myself off of diet soda's I have been making a big effort to drink water. Of course I drink my usual coffees in the morning, and then the rest of the day I consume water.
Just the other day I was hungry, and I purchased a meal along with a diet coke. Not more than an hour later as I was driving home my leg calf started to go into spasms and a cramp.
I have noticed this before after I would drink a diet soda, I would have what I would call arthritic feeling joints.
My mom used to be a really big consumer of Diet Cokes, and soda's. (Well she did before she died seven months ago.) She would complain of incredible cramps in her legs that were very painful. When she was in the hospital she was having awful, painful cramps. There on the counter next to her bed sat the opened cans of diet coke.
I am suspecting that maybe the artificial sweetener in the Diet Soda's had something to do with the Muscles cramping up.
So here is and experiment you might want to try. Stop, Stop using diet soda, and drink water. This is if you have leg or joint pain. See if the cramps go away. Then one day drink up a couple of cans of diet coke. Then see if the cramps return.
Regardless of the source of my leg cramps. I am really working at stopping with the diet coke, or diet soda. I don't like how I feel after drinking the stuff.
That's all I have for now...
And that's the way it is...I'm David Dane

Confession Time
Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 204.8-pounds.
Oh Argh....
How many of you are Catholic? Well, I was raised a Catholic.
I will never forget this opening statement I used to make when I would step into the confessional booth.
"Bless me father for I have sinned. It's been 2 months since my last confession. I have done these sins."
So here we go fans.
"Bless me weight losing fans. It's been one day since my last post. I have done these sins."
"This weekend, I blew it out baby."
"That's right, I pigged out."
"Just yesterday alone I ate a bag of Peanut Butter M&M Candies, and two Snickers Bars in the morning for breakfast."
"Then for lunch. I ate two Burger King Whoppers, a small French Fries, and a vanilla ice cream cone."
"Last night I had the munchies: So I opened up the freezer and found my last ice cream cookie sandwich, then I stuffed that thing in my mouth."
"And fans don't ask me what I ate on Sunday and Monday because I didn't write it down. All I know is I had beer and wine Sunday night."
Ahhh, I feel better. I confessed to my fans. Now may I have absolution? Please, so the fat gods can forgive me.
Now I will go back to eating my broccoli sprigs, and one or two eggs for breakfast.
Bye for now....
And that's the way it is... I'm David Dane

Oh The Sin Of Eating A Big Milky Way Bar
Hello weight losing fans....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 203.4-pounds.
OK....
I have a confession to make. Yesterday I went walking with a friend of mine downtown in Wheaton. We were going by the Dairy Queen, and I heard an Ice Cream Machine calling me.
My friend and I had vanilla ice cream cones dipped into chocolate... OH the sin !
Later I was at the store buying some paint for my fishing lures. I went by the checkout counter and saw this big fat juicey Milky Way Bar. I purchased it and ate it.... OH I am so evil !
Yeah that was so good though...

Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 203.6-pounds.
This simply amazes me. I barely ate anything yesterday. I had some ribs, three cups of milk, and a small glass of Mead (an ancient wine made with honey).
Yet there I am up at over 203-pounds. I am simply amazed at how unbelievabley stubborn the body is to let go of fat.

Could only be because I had a glass of cold milk yesterday and a little extra peanut butter off of the spoon? Who knows?

I'm Trying To Break Old Ground: It's So Hard To Do
Hello weight losing fans.....
Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 203-pounds.
I am amazed that was my weight for today. I, like so many other people, struggle with my appetite for food at all hours of the day.
Yesterday I went with a volunteer organization to work a children's camp ground.
When I got to the reception area I was invited to eat anything that was put out onto the tables.
I having eaten only a few eggs, and some ham for breakfast, was so very tempted to dive into the mixture of sugar coated blueberry muffins, fruit bagels, and assorted juices that were there.
I almost indulged myself on those goodies. Yep, that was really a temptation.
Here was what was going through my mind, "Come on; one muffin won't hurt. You'll work it off today."
Well, unfortunately that voice was very similar to the many other voices that I have been hearing that has contributed to me giving into my impulses to eat. As a result my weight has gone back up.
That said, there's only one thing that I can do: "Eat Less Food." Yep, it's back to that crappy, nagging, mantra that I have written about so many times......! I HATE IT !!!!!!!!!!!
I HATE EATING LESS FOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yesterday I resisted that temptation, and the ones that followed later in the day.
But, will I keep up my vigil? Gee, I don't know. I just never know when my cousin will offer me that slice of cake made with liquor, and topped with whipped cream and broken up Heath Chocolate Bars. If she does that; I will be toast again.
Bye for now....
