Twenty-fifth Day Without Food

Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 189.4-Pounds.

This is 25-days without food. Oh, I take my vitamins and minerals along the way. I drink a lot of water. I have had a couple bottles of Kombucha, and even a little kefir along the way. I haven't had any solid food.

Conventional Wisdom would have everyone believe by now I would be dead. Conventional wisdom would have everyone believe what I am doing is very dangerous. Conventional wisdom would have everyone believe I am not healthy, my heart is shrinking, my brain is shrinking, oh my muscles are wasting away.

Non-Sense.

That's all for now.

Twenty-Third Day Fasting Without Food

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale Weighing in at 190.2-Pounds. That's strange I still haven't burned enough fat to reach the weight I was when I dry fasted.

Today is day 23 without food. Yesterday I had a Kombucha, and a can of coconut milk, neither of them knocked me out of Ketosis.

That's all for now.

Twentieth Day Fasting

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 192.8-Pounds. That's up from yesterday morning. I rehydrated after a 54-Hour dry fast. Remember I was 188-Pounds. Well, now I am rehydrated.

So it's been 20 days since I have eaten any food.

I have to get going for now.

Nineteen Day Fasting

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 188-Pounds. That's down 29-pounds since I started 19-Days ago. I also ended my dry fast this morning with 54-hours plus without fluids. I ended it because my mouth got so dry I couldn't close my mouth without my teeth catching my cheeks. I didn't thinks it was worth it. Besides, I am working today, so I need my wits about me. After I rehydrated I did gain 2-pounds to 190-Pounds.

So that's the 19th-Day without food of any king. Of course, I do take my vitamins and minerals.

I feel terrific. With the exception of dry fasting (day two having been the worst), I feel wonderful. NO overpowering hunger pains.

That's all for now.

Eighteenth Day Without Food-And A 48-Hour Liquid Free Fast

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 190.4-Pounds.

Today is day being the Eighteenth and I feel terrific. I am not feeling all ragged out like some people complain being on such a long fast. Topping that off it is day two of a dry fast without any kind of fluids. Honestly this makes the fast a little tough because I am thirsty. However, I got through it yesterday. I went to bed and slept like a baby. I am pushing to complete this tonight which will be 48-hours. Yet I am thinking, "Hmmm, what will happen if I carry this out until tomorrow?" I don't know, it will depend on how I feel.

That's all for now.

Seventeenth Day Without Food

Hello weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the digital scale weighing in at 194.2-pounds.

Today is my seventeenth day fasting without food. Today I am attempting a 24-hour dry fast on top of the fast from food. I already have a dry yucky taste in my mouth.

That's all for now.

Sixteenth Day Fasting Without Food

 Hello Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 195.8-Pounds.

I feel terrific. Some of my friends tease me I will be found dead one day. Yeah, one of whom is a porkchop himself. The next thing out some folks mouth is, how long are you going to do this. I tell them as long as it takes. Folks when you get this far in to a fast there is no more hunger. Everything shuts down. As long as there is water the body consumes its fat store. Honest I am not suffering with giant hunger pains.

I started at 217-Pounds minus 195.8-Pounds equals 21.2-Pounds, which is an average of 1.3 pounds a day. How many people do you know that would love to lose a pound a day?

Today is my Sixteenth Day Fasting. I weigh 195.8-Pounds.

That's all for now.

Fifteen Fasting Day Without Food

Hello weight losing fans,

Today I stepped up on to the Digital Scale weighing in at 198-Pounds.

I asked myself how can that be? Yesterday I was shopping. I saw this vitamin drink on the shelf. I looked at the contents to see what was in it. I saw STEVIA. This is a so-called safe sugar substitute which is touted to be calorie free. Calorie free it may be. I am convinced it still spikes up the blood sugar. Twice during this fast I used Stevia, and twice during the next day weigh in the digits on the scale were higher than the day before. There is no other explanation for it. Stevia spikes the blood sugar, which causes the insulin to kick in, resulting in some halting in the fat burning.

If you are fasting don't use Stevia. I don't care what the experts say. Stevia spikes sugars and Insulin. For sure don't use any of those fake sweeteners because those are just pure unadulterated poisons.

Today is day 15 of the no food fast. I am 198-Pounds.

That's all for now.

Fourteenth day Fasting

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 197.2-Pounds.

This is the Fourteenth Day of Fasting without food. Yesterday it was a hot day. (Finally) It drained me. I forgot my salty water, and was outside in the heat. It zapped me. I couldn't wait to find a place with some cold water.

Fourteenth day without food, and 197.2-Pounds. I feel terrific.

That's all for now.

Thirteenth Day No Food Fasting

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 199.4-Pounds.

That's right, no solid food for 13-days. I feel terrific.

People ask how can you do that. I get all kinds of commentary. One women said that I will drop over dead. Well, not so far.

This is the 13th day fasting.

That's the way it is so far.

Twelve Day No Food Fasting

Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 200.2-Pounds.

This is the 12th day of my fast with no food. I am down from 217-pounds. Thinking about it the last thing I ate before I started this was Vanilla Ice Cream. I think I figured out what might have slowed my progress on this fast. I have been adding Stevia that is mixed with Maltdextrose. I think that was spiking my sugar for a while. Yesterday I drank my coffee without it.

I take my usual minerals, vitamins and nutrients.

Today is the 12th day of my fast. I feel terrific. I am not struggling with fatigue,  or dizziness, or any of the other things people seem to suffer through. I drink water with minerals added. I drink a lot of water.

That's all for now.

Eleventh Day Fasting And I Am Not Dead Yet

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 202.2-Pounds. I am surprised I had not dropped more. Oh well...

Yesterday I made some cookies for a friend of mine. I was tasting them and spitting them out after I tasted them. I think that may have activated the sugar sensors. It might have peeked up my insulin which stopped my weight lose. That's just a theory.

So, I have lost 15-pounds in 11-days. It is my 11th-Day without food. I am drinking water with minerals added, along with vitamins.

I feel terrific. I have watched you tube videos about people who have gone on such long fasts, and they expressed how much they suffered. Well, I feel fabulous. I don't want to eat again. I am clear headed. I sleep at night like a baby.  I fall asleep quickly. I should have done this years ago. I have had a few times where I get a sharp pain in my right side. It goes away. I have a empty feeling in my stomach. It's not too bad. It's bearable.

I don't tell anyone anymore I am fasting. I get the usual responses. Oh, your heart is going to stop because the muscle is shrinking. Oh, your body muscle will disappear.  How about this; I am 50 pounds too heavy, and my heart muscle could be straining that way. I don't look good with a big belly. How about that? I don't know; I think so many people are stupid.

When we were less modern, people when long periods without eating. They hunted for their food, and they grew their food. They worked for that produce and meat. Now people have grocery stores, and every kind of food imaginable. I don't think that's so bad. I think people eat more than they should. Many, many people never give their digestive system a break. Well, this my digestive systems long break.

We shall see how long I can continue.

That's the way it is for now.

Tenth Day Fasting Without Food

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in a 202.2 Pounds.

That's right the title says it: Tenth Day with no food. Since I began this foodless journey, I now have lost 15-Pounds. I keep thinking to myself I never should have let myself get up to this weight again. Only I wasn't weighing myself every day. My diet wasn't careful either. I was consuming a lot of different sweets along the way. I tried intermittent fasting, only that slowed the metabolism even more.

Yesterday I was talking to a fellow worker who seems to think I am going to kill myself. I don't know if I will. I don't think walking around at over 200-pounds was healthy either. I just got sick and tired enough to try this.

With the exception of having an empty feeling in the pit of the stomach, I actually feel pretty good.

I take minerals in water, along with vitamins. I think I am getting some kind of nutrition.

I told my fellow worker I was ending this yesterday. Only I can't help wanting to see how far I can take this to.

That's all for now.

8th Day Fasting - Am I Doing Unrepairable Damage?

Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 206-Pounds. This is my 8th-day on my no food fast. I have been taking my minerals, drinking water, some coffee, some tea, no sugars, my vitamins.

Yesterday I was talking to a fellow worker and telling her I was on day seven of my fast. She told me that I was going to damage my heart because it's a muscle and that it will shrink. There is plenty of evidence that isn't true. In fact when a fast is done properly it actually allows the body to destroy weak tissue, and kicks in hormones that protect muscle tissue.

And I have a question which is worse eating nothing and cleaning out the system, getting rid of unwanted fat, or eating and continue to gain weight and get insulin resistance along with type-2 diabetes? I work with some people who are massive. They strain to walk around because they are 300-pounds of fat. There is one guy I work with who is a very nice man who Is so big. He looks like he is just absolutely miserable. He can not run, and he strains to walk.  Which is worse to you?

Anyway, I feel terrific.

That's all for now.

Day Six Of Food Less Fast

 Hello Weight Losing Fans:

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 208.6-Pounds.

Today is the 6th day of my no food fast. This morning I had some tea with stevia. Yesterday I kind of broke my fast by drinking 1\2 liter of quinine water which was sweetened with sugar. I probably would have been down another pound had it not been for that.

That's the way it is for now.

Monday, May 2, 2022

 Hello Weight Losing Fans.

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 209.2-pounds.

Yesterday I was talking to my sister on the telephone. I told her that I was on my 4-th day fasting with no food. She was amazed. She could not believe anyone would not eat for days.

Today is day five of my no food fast. I drink water, a little coffee, my vitamins, and minerals.

I feel fine.

That's the way it is for now.

 Hello Weight Losing Fans

Today I stepped up onto the digital scale weighing in at 210.2-Pounds. That's down almost 2-pounds from yesterday's weigh in.

Today is day 4 on my fast. This evening at around 8-PM I will have fasted 96-hours. I feel fine. I am not struggling with hunger. I slept well. I feel fine.

This is my first four day fast in over a year. I have done 48-hour fasts over the last three years. I am on my way trying to go as many days as I can.

I don't have much to talk about today. That's the way it is for now.

Persistent Friends Don't Understand

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 212-pounds. That's down 3-pounds.

Yesterday I was talking to a coworker friend. He was insisting I take some of his cough drops. I have taken them before and sucked on them like they are hard candies. I would make short work of them. He was insisting take some of these cough drops. I kept telling him no. He wanted to know why. I told him I am fasting. The First thing out of his mouth was, "What is this for religion?" "Then he had the idiotic response, "are you a Muslim.?" Remember 20-years ago someone would have asked if I were a Catholic? My oh my, times have changed. I said no. I then explained I am tired of looking at my fat belly in the mirror. Then he said, "Oh you don't look fat, you don't even look that old. "     Ugh !!!!!  I told him I am 40-pounds more than I should be, and I am tired of it. He wanted to know how long have I been fasting. I said, "This is the second day." Of course there was the usual response "oh that must be hard?" I told him, "no it's not."  He then wanted to know how long I plan on fasting. I told him, "As long as it takes." I said, "I am in the second day." He said, "You must be really hungry." Not really, I replied. Him, "Oh I could never do that."  My thought, "Yeah, that's why you are a pork chop with nasty skin." The sweets are destroying this guy. He then wanted to know if it's hard? Well, Duh.. ! Come on, deprivation is never easy. Especially, especially, it's not easy if you have border-line diabetes. We then got into a discussion somehow about my longest fast. I told him a long time ago I fasted 9-days. He had a hard time imaging that. I am still alive after not eating 9-days.

This brings me to a point; for me 24-hours without eating is easy, now anyway. Most people, most people don't, I mean most people do not have the fortitude, to go 12-hours without eating, let alone go 24-hours without eating. Over, and over I have mentioned fasting, and get the darndest responses. I can't list them here. I watch sometimes this guy named Cole on You Tube. He has a You Tube Channel called the, "Snake Diet." He's been around many years. His videos are brutal. To be honest, I do not think 10-percent of the people who watch his videos even consider fasting more that a day, much less to a point any significant fat is burned off. I had one of his videos pop up a few days ago on my suggestion list. I think I watch 10-minutes. I thought, "yeah I really have to do something."  Alternate fasting hasn't gotten me anywhere and the weight is creeping up. I decided to attempt a 3-day fast. Here it is day three and I am fine. I consume some coffee. I take my vitamins and minerals, and drink water. I feel fine.

I have no idea how long I will go. I have no idea what the results will be. I really feel fine.

Day-3 of my fast. Starting weight Wednesday was 217-pounds. This morning I was 212-pounds.

I have some growling in my stomach.

That's the way it is for now.

 Hello Weight Losing Fans,

It's been many, many years since I added anything to this BLOG. Since then I got involved with a friend who is a Cookie Monster, and I was led astray. As a result my weight has gone up, up, up and up. Well, I have gotten tired of looking in the mirror and the extra fat around my midsection. On Wednesday I decided to put my head down and do something about it.  I started my 24-Hour fasts. Today is day two.

Today I stepped up onto the digital scale weighing in at 215-lbs.

That's all for now.

My Weight Is Still Below 180-Pounds

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale Weighing in at 177-pounds. That's just five pounds over my last check in.

I have been doing small bouts of exercise everyday. I stopped for a month or so because my left knee just became intolerable. Now I am back ...  I use a 35-pound, and 20-pound weight to exercise.

I also do a regimen of push-ups every morning when I wake up. This is good progress considering many months ago I had degenerated over the years and couldn't even do one push-up.

I think 177-pounds is still real good. I went for a physical for my CDL license and the doctor said that I look much, much better than most of the drivers he examines. He said there are way to many fat people, to include both genders... ( Or is that 3-genders,  or is it 12-genders?) Anyway it was a big compliment. The guy passed me to drive ...

Maybe The Truth Hurts

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in at 176-Pounds.

Back in December I mentioned a friend needs to lose 100-lbs. Well, he must have read that post. Because he's ignoring me.... I guess the truth hurts. HEY you need to lose 100-lbs friend... Ignore me all you want, that isn't going to fix the health issues mounting against you. This includes diabetes, fatty liver, fatty heart, congestive heart failure, blood pressure issues, and just an over all unappealing appearance.

Hey I'll change that... friend at the minimum for your height, you should lose 60-pounds... Not only that your belly is so large, are you pregnant? OOOOHHH.... damn...  Truth hurts. ...

Good Luck with that friend..... Naw, you don't want to hear what to do...  And one day you'll be stuck with the same issues, and taking some kind of medication for the ailments that come from being to darned chubby... Honestly, I already know you have fatty liver. I already know your heart is burdened. I already know you probably have higher blood pressure. I already know you are drinking too much Coke, and soda. That's a real good lead up to diabetes.

Ha, I just figured out how I know my friend saw that post... He has removed his name from my  followers list..

Hey the truth hurts.

That's the way it is... I'm David Dane...

Hello Weight Losing Fans....

Today I stepped upon to the Digital Scale Weighing in at 180.6-lbs.

On Christmas Day I was at a family members home and was getting complimented how good I looked since I was last seen ...
I made the comment I want to lose more. I got a reaction that I shouldn't lose more.
Well that's flattering; it doesn't fit with the reality of what I should be for true health.

I still have belly fat.  Belly fat is an enemy of men in that it holds estrogen which is antagonistic to male testosterone. Men need testosterone at all ages. And belly blubber is the anti-testosterone maker. Belly fat is also an indicator of other health issues, like fatty liver, high sugar levels, high insulin levels, insulin resistance, and the list goes on . I have only just started correcting a huge mistake in that I let myself get here.

I have reached the target zone that I wrote about years ago. I wrote my target was 180-lbs. I thought that would be sufficient. I have been maintaining this for months now. I bounce up around 180 to 185. Only my waist line is not where it should be. My waist is still too large. My waist should be 1/2 my height in inches.  My waist should be 34-inches.

Some people think I will look way too skinny. Some think that I will look anemic.  Years ago when I reached 174-lbs people said my eyes looked sunken in my head. One women in particular, who meant well, said I was too thin. This same women is now an adult diabetic who uses insulin. Her adult child just had stomach surgery so she could lose 150-lbs. And her renter is a guy who needs to drop a hundred pounds. Around the house is cookies, candy,  bread, sweet cakes, soda, and other foods that add weight quickly. The whole family pounds down sweet sodas completely oblivious to damage being done.  My point is the opinions mean nothing and usually come from people who have no worldly-idea what it means to be a normal weight. And mind you, even if I manage to shave off more pounds does not mean I have hit the epitome of health.

I have reset my target weight zone. I pulled it off the military height and weight chart. It is pretty much the same across the board for other height-weight-charts.  I need to have a 34-inch waist. (this is 1/2 my height in inches) I am at 38-inches around my naval now. Every five pounds of lost fat is 1-inch of waist line. I need to drop 4-inches off the waist line. Therefore I must decrease 20-lbs or weigh in at 160-lbs.

Now will I look too thin..? Probably I will. I am not looking forward to it.  I mean it. For one thing I will need all new clothes. I haven't been that weight since I left the active United States Army.   But what I look like isn't the issue. It's what my health is that matters. Am I more healthy than I was;  yeah. ? Not healthy enough where I should be.

Am I going to race down to 160- lbs? No...! Emphatically No.. I still eat, and I do some exercise every day. I just took two days off for Christmas ,and it was so very hard to get up and exercise again. .. it's best to exercise a bit everyday without skipping. I am not talking about pounding workouts either.

So what does tomorrow bring. More progress I hope. Will it take me a long time to reach 160-lbs.  ? It will take me another year to reach that.    In the mean while, I probably won't be putting down my weight each day. It's tough writing on a tiny phone screen. .

That's all for now..  I'm David Dane

Going Back Down

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in a 182-pounds.

I took this photo today on my cellular phone.
These are 42-inch pants at the waist. My New waist is 38-inches around the naval area. Below that just above the hip bones, it is 37-inches.

I used to fill these pants out. Well, you can see the change....

Insulin Resistance Is The Problem

Hello Weight Losing Fans....

Today I stepped up onto the Scale weighing in at 199-Pounds.

That's up... However, my waist line is still shrinking. Go figure.

Anyway, I don't post a whole lot anymore mostly now because I just don't have the time.

I heard the news today another friend of mine is taking insulin because he has adult onset diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes must take insulin because they can not produce insulin.

However, most adults who get adult onset diabetes don't have a problem with not making enough insulin. The problem is they make too much insulin, and their bodies develop a resistance to it. When their is too much sugar in the system, the body excretes insulin. This insulin is supposed to scrub the body of the sugar. What it usually does is stores the excessive sugar as body fat. Too much sugar though also becomes a problem with the insulin levels being so high for so long, the body loses it's ability to process sugar. In essence the body becomes immune or resistant to it's own insulin. The result is a decease called adult onset diabetes.

There are other factors involved with this as well. A lack of minerals such as magnesium, vanadium, chromium, copper, iodine and nutrients like vitamin C, cause the body to not function as it should.

But, the biggest problem is too much insulin for too long in the system. The body can only store 4-grams of glucose at any one time (That is about a teaspoon of sugar). If there is excessive glucose the body must store it or excrete it. This is where insulin works. Insulin takes the sugar converts it to fat and stores it. The body also dumps sugar out of the body, and this is why sugar can be detected in the urine with a test strip.

These days when doctors see this in tests they react by prescribing medications. Instead they should say to the patient, it's time for you to give up sugar, and quit eating so many carbohydrates.
My friends blood sugar must have gotten so high the doctor gave him insulin. On his FACEBOOK page he was talking about passing out from an insulin overdose. Well, yeah dude you already have insulin in your system. Your problem isn't too much Insulin. Your problem is the body can't use what it has anymore.

Can it be fixed. Most of the times it can be fixed. But, it will take a strict diet of getting off sugar, and carbohydrates. It will also mean fasting between meals and letting the insulin levels drop back to normal.

I don't have time to go into more details about this. However, go look up insulin Resistance. Take a look at the videos I posted in the past.

If you are overweight, and you have body fat, then the odds are real good you are becoming a victim of insulin resistance...

Today I stepped up onto the scale weighing in at 196-Pounds +... that's down from yesterday...

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the scale weighing in at 198-pounds + ... Yep that's an increase. Last night I ate after 8-PM which is very unusual for me. So that was on the scale early this morning.

I had a talk with a friend yesterday. He seems to think that I am starving myself to death. This is because I have noticeably trimmed down. Now, I am not bent out of shape with this weight gain. He complains that he must lose weight .... Will he take the steps. ? NO.... I tell him that I eat a lot of butter. In fact I actually eat at least one stick a day. I also take the fat from my hamburgers and pour it into the vegetables. Fat suppresses appetite. It actually helps to control the amount of food someone wants to eat. It has for me. I am not actually losing the inches more than I am losing the pounds.

Now, would I like to get my weight down? Yeah... At what expense my actual muscle. And, I had written for years my frustration with never ending hunger. Butter, and fat help me want less. It still takes will power to leave sweets alone. However, I can eat a lot of fat, and then actually increase my fat and proteins. Which helps with hunger.

That's all for now.... I'm David Dane

Hello weight losing fans....

Today I stepped up on the scale weighing in at just over 196-pounds.  That is up... I am not worried. I have adapted a new way of looking at this. I am now down another inch on my waist line and on my chest. My sides where the rolls of fat hang are looking flatter. I am making progress. And, my neck has gone from 18-inches to 16-inches...

I started exercising again a couple weeks ago. I have added stuff in here and there. Yesterday I added in some grass routines because it was warm.
Let's see what it will do...

Hello Weight Losing Fans....

Today I stepped up onto the Scale weighing in at just over 194-Pounds.

I thought I would check out the blog and see where the stats were for readers. Wow, I am all the way down to zero...

That's Okay.. It's hard to post, and post on a blog everyday.

Well, I replaced my scale that broke with a new one... That new scale got fried with water over flow from the tub. Oops...

I purchased an inexpensive scale that only measures the weight.

So for now, it's no longer the magical mystical digital scale. It is just a scale.

Today I weighed in at just over 194-Pounds. Last May of 2016 I was 214-Pounds...
January of 2016 I was 225-Pounds.

I was down recently as low as 191.4-Pounds.

I have lost 5-inches off my stomach and off my chest.

I am back to doing some exercises each day with the hope of increasing the regimen.

I am not planning on writing on this everyday. A year ago I just ran out of things to write.

I will tell you this, I have changed my mind about some things. Weight doesn't matter near as much as the lose of inches on the waist and chest. I have lost many inches on both areas.

Now, does weight and inches correspond? Well, yeah.  Only that doesn't reflect the actual condition of the body, or it's real muscle structure verses the fat content. I haven't lost many pounds over this last year. I have lost many inches.  I am pretty sure I am holding on to much of my muscle mass.

In the beginning of my writing my blog I was losing weight because I restricted my calories. Well, now I don't restrict calories. I eat what I eat. Much of what I eat is FAT.

That's all for now...... !

The Cheapest Thing You Can Do Is Take Care Of Your Health

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Scale... NOT... No New Scale Yet..

However I am excited that my chest has gone from 47-Inches down to 43-Inches.

I wrote that the cheapest thing anyone can do is to take care one's health.

There is an old cliche: All the money in the world won't help if you have bad health.. Now that might not be exact, but you get the idea.

I was talking to a family member today. He/she was asking if I have diabetes. I said no. He/She said how do you know if you haven't been tested? Well, my last physical was last year, and my sugar tests did not show sugars in the urine. I showed slightly high for protein. That is only because I had about four raw eggs, and two scoops of protein for breakfast the morning of my physical.

It's pretty amazing because two of my brothers have had to go on medications for high sugar in the blood. Here I am I am not on any medication for anything. But, boy I sure do take a lot of supplements.

Now, based upon some of the weight I have gained and lost, it's possible I might have become a type two diabetic. I certainly developed insulin resistance. That is a precursor to becoming a type two diabetic. So far no one has ever detected sugar in my urine, and I haven't either. I never did get my thyroid checked by a doctor. If I had I am sure I would be on some kind of medication too.

I think I am this fortunate because unlike my fellow family members, I used to run all the way up until I was about 35 years old. I even ran when I got too pudgy for the Army Reserves.  I was healthy for the most part. My real down fall came getting addicted to Coke. I went a couple years drinking 2 liters of Coke everyday. Then when I switched out of Regular Coke, I began drinking Diet Coke 2 liters. Boy, you talk about a recipe for disaster. Diet Coke created havoc on my brain, and my cartilage in my knees.

You can read my past archives to get the story. Now, I am on a different track. I think this will be more sustainable. Oh, I hate giving up the sweets. Only, that's what must be.
It's not easy going to friends houses either ... Because everyone is stuck in the old paradigm. They are stuck eating lots of starches, drinking Cokes, and eating Cake and Ice Cream.
It's still a temptation to eat the wrong thing.

Now, I take a lot of different supplements. It's not cheap. I am trying desperately to completely give up the sweets. So far I have faltered once in the last month.. I got knocked out of Ketosis on Thursday night, and still haven't gotten back into it yet. I am working at it.

If you look up men my age on the internet at least 50 percent of the men near my age are on some kind of medication. I am not. I haven't had major surgeries in 30-years, and that because of injuries in the military. The cheapest thing I can do for my health is finally get my weight back under control. This has a lot to do with the kind of food I eat. Fructose Sugar has to become a no-no. Large amounts of Carbohydrates need to become no-nos. And, on the list of things to avoid grows. I still eat fat. I eat lots of fat. Yep, that's against everything we were taught about fats. I eat meat. Today I had Turkey in broth. I eat vegetables that are mostly green. I will modify that menu later. I am concentrating on getting my body fat down. That might not mean getting back down to 170. As long as I don't have a bunch of fat hanging off my belly, then I will be good.

So far, so good.

That's the way it is.. I'm David Dane

IS THE KETOGENIC DIET DANGERS: All things you need to know before trying it

Hello weight losing fans...

Nope no weight scale yet.. And the weight I gave yesterday was a borrowed scale.

I tape measured today and lost another inch off my chest. So the fat is coming off slowly but surely.

Last night I had much better sleep. It took me until midnight. When I fell asleep, I slept straight through for 7 hours. Boy it has been hard.

As always, I screen your comments. If I do not like them, then I delete them.

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

I still don't have a scale... But, I did weight in at just over 208-pounds. So that's down 3-Pounds or so.

I was walking past a large mirror today and noticed my stomach doesn't have a big round bulge anymore. It's actually beginning to flatten out. I take pictures of myself without my shirt everyday, and can see a difference there too with the overlap of fat actually beginning to taper up towards the naval area.

A couple weeks ago I wrote that I had to add two notch holes to my belt. Now, I am hitching at the very last notch. So, It will be soon that I add more holes to the belt.

There is something else I noticed that's really different this year compared to last year. I am perspiring again. Yep, this is a very good sign. Last year when it got warm I was miserable. I couldn't take the heat, and I didn't perspire. (No amount of water seemed to help.) This year it got very warm in my apartment 91-degrees-Fahrenheit. I actually felt comfortable because I was perspiring. In that case I just turn on the fan, and I feel comfortable. Last year I struggled to get cool...  I do believe this means the hormones that regulate my body temperature are kicking in. Remember not long ago I wrote that my metabolism got jacked all around in a bad way on a different diet? I actually had very low thyroid, and my body temperature was low. Well, low body temperature means no perspiration, and no cooling off. So I would get warm and stay warm with no perspiration. I was driving a truck last year that had no AC in it. It was hot, I mean really hot. What made it worse is I wasn't perspiring. If I had, even though the truck was warm, It would have been more bearable with perspiration...

It's taking me a month to get used to the idea that I will have to live without carbohydrates for a while, that is until I can reach that targeted weight. I still struggle with waking up twice at night, but by all reports, someday I will actually adapt and sleep more soundly. Let's see what happens there.

I added this an hour later: When I went on the restricted calories diet of 1,500 calories, I lost weight. I lost 60 pounds in about eight months. There was one problem. I was hungry all the time. I would frequently complain that I was hungry, and at night it felt like cats clawing inside my stomach. On this diet I am not hungry like I used to be. Yeah, I get hungry some. Not like I did. I am doing intermittent fasting now. This means I skip breakfast and eat afternoon. I have a fast when I finish eating at night, and then wait until the next day noon or later to eat. This gives me about a 14-16-hour window that I am fasted. I am not overly hungry, and not tempted to eat like I did that last time.

I will keep you updated...

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

I am still doing the Ketogenic Diet...

I am still hanging in there. It's not easy to do. I don't recommend this to the faint-of-heart. I mean that. It's very hard to get enough fat without going to absolute extremes. I mean things like using bullet proof coffee. And, I am currently listening to a video where the man is saying the ketogenic diet is boring. It's boring to eat the same thing all the time. I agree.

Am I going to join the carbohydrate crowd? Well, not yet. I had an orange last night. That was about 30-grams of carbohydrates. I am still in the experimental mode. I am going to the extremes of fat consumption. That's hard to do. I don't like pure fat. To be honest I don't want to look at another stick of butter.

Here is the problem: I am Insulin resistant. I am not Insulin Sensitive. I have to be extreme. Yes, I lost weight on 1,500 calories a day. Now, it doesn't work.
I was wrong about something, I used to write I could eat 3-Snickers Bars a day and lose weight. I never tried it. And, I might be right. Only the cravings I would have after wards would be unbearable. I mean it, when I was a sugar-holic. I was craving sugar all the time. I wanted sugar and sweets. It became hard to not stick my hand in a bowl of candy at some one's counter.

The other problem with sugar is it contributes to the aging process. That's right sugar ages us. As hard as this lifestyle is, I don't want to accelerate my aging process. And, I must admit, it's damned uncomfortable carrying around 4-bowling balls on my stomach. I hate the bulge of my tummy.

My dream is to trim up, get down, and look better. My dream is not to be possessed with food. Yes, when I lost 60-Pounds, that's all I could think of was food.  I wrote about it. Well, on this diet, I don't want to look at food. I dread eating. I mean it. Even though I get someone hungry, I don't want to eat.
Now every once and a while I crave something sweet. So last night I ate an orange. That was it.
I try to bulk up on green vegetable such as Spinach and green beans mixed with butter. But, I don't sit there looking forward to eating them. I eat them because I have to. It keeps everything getting up and moving out. I don't know how many macro-nutrients I get from them. I just eat them.

As I have written before, just don't expect to see the high speed fat loss. It's not going to happen. It will come about some day, but not like expected on a calorie restricted diet.

Body transformation results with ketogenic diet

Hello Weight Losing Fans...
\
Today I didn't weigh myself...

I have written this before. It doesn't matter on this Diet Change because on the Ketogenic Diet the initial weight loss is mostly water. After that the weight lose is slow because the body retains it's muscle mass, and loses fat. It also takes a couple months to really adapt to this Ketogenic Diet and begin to see results. So, there really is no reason to weigh myself.

I had someone send to me a very nasty comment. I am glad I screen the comments because this person called me some nasty names. It's all because I was trying to encourage the person. Well, I won't do that again... I hope someone walks up to this person and punches Him or Her in the mouth for me...  I am just absolutely tired of putting up with these type of people.

Just remember: I screen comments. If I don't like what you posted, then I send it to the trash bin. Even though the Anonymous Option is available , I won't post those either.. If you are a nobody, then I don't post nobodies...!

Keto Diet Part 2 Cons: You're Gonna Feel Like Shit

My Frustration with Ketogenic Diet Lies, Misinformation, Bogus Claims, B...

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Scale at ________? Yep, I did not replace it yet.

I have been looking at different sources regarding the Ketogenic Diet. I am finding out that even though I turn the Ketosis Sticks dark purple, I am not technically Keto adapted.  I may have to undergo another 2-Months before I have adapted.

I still have all the symptoms of someone who isn't keto adapted. I get tired in the later part of the day. I still crave sweets. Yeah, I don't want to eat, but I still long to eat a Cinnamon Bun... Go figure.
I have trouble staying asleep all night. That's a problem with many people who do the Ketogenic lifestyle.

I am not posting my weight because it doesn't really matter. The weight actually comes off very slow. It's the inches on my waist, my chest, and my back side that matters. As long as the body shape is changing, and inches are peeling away, that's what counts.

Well, you might ask, doesn't how much someone weighs matter; well, yes and no? Yes weight matters, but inches matter more because the muscle has a tendency to stay on board the body a whole lot better than a reduced calorie diet.

I have a whole bunch of videos that I posted in the past weeks. Once you are there looking at those video on You Tube, then it's easy to navigate from there. I can't possibly post them all.

As I have written before, I am definitely losing inches. My jeans are loser, I am tightening my belt past my usual cinch points. So there is progress. It may be slow, but it's there...

Just remember: If you leave a comment; I screen it. If I don't like what was written, then it goes bye-bye in the cyber-trash bin. If it's anonymous, that too goes bye-bye.. If you are a nobody, then what difference does it make to anyone what you write....

A Life Saving Diet - The Ketogenic Diet

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto Air...

I was looking at my belts this morning. There is one that is all belt up and I do not wear anymore. I am going to cut it shorter, and get it ready to be my "Thin" belt. This belt has several holes out near the tip that were well worn. I measured the belt from the worn holes to the buckle latch which measured 46-inchs. This is what I was back in 2006 when I started this blog and began my quest to lose weight.  On that same belt I had the last holes that I used which were around 38-inches. The belt I use now has well worn holes also. Those too measure 46-inches. Plus my tape measure around my belly confirmed that. Well, this morning my new latch point on my second belt is at 42-inches. This all without having lost a single pound. Now, go figure that one out.

A friend just called me and she told me about a friend who lost 60-Pounds of fat just by drinking 1/4 cup of pure olive oil in the morning.

Hey if it works go for it...

Get Ready To Get Your Butt Kicked.......

Hello Weight Losing Fans....

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale Weighing ________ ?

Does it matter? I mean as long as I am losing inches, does it matter? This morning I put on the tape measure, and went past 43-inches around the belly button, and I am on my way to 42-inches.

Just think... what will I look like in say six months? I took photos along the way here. I compared the pictures, and I can see a slight reduction in the bulge of my tummy from the sides: It's a little flatter.

I won't reveal them so quickly. I will give you one I took the other day in my fat shirt...

I titled this: Get Ready To Get Your Butt Kicked...

I mean that mentally and some physically. Years ago, can you believe I started in 2006 and it took me until 2008 to get down to 174-Pounds. It sure didn't last long. I almost got back up to 240-pounds... Ooh.... In fact I was looking at my January Logs... 221-pounds.. OUCH...

When I lost all that weight I was on a calorie restricted diet. I was eating 500-calories a meal, I ate a lot of prepared TV dinners. (Oh Sodium, Sodium, so my friend cried as she tossed her once beautiful butt that turned to a big blob around. Really what's worse, a fat butt, or some Sodium and a trimmed up body? ) I lost the weight. Then regained it... It's because hunger was getting to me.

I wrote then that my body was screaming because I cut back so far on everything. I messed up my metabolism doing that. When I cut back I denied my brain Glucose. Unknown to me at the time, my problem was the Insulin Intolerance. Well, when ever I do something like that my body says: "Oh, I see you're trying to change the status quo here. You've been fat so long and now you want to change? Well, get ready because I am going to kick your butt. It did too.. I wrote about that. My body screamed for food, and the cravings for sugar, and the obsession over food was just hard to deal with. I wrote about it too...

This time it's no different. My brain went back to feeding itself on Glucose. I had my body fat reserves, and my body said, "there everything is back to where it was. Don't be screwing with the system." Switching to the Ketogenic Lifestyle wasn't anything different. My body got ticked-off and said, "Oh, I am going to kick your butt again." I got sick, I caught some kind of bug. My head began pounding, my mouth got super dry, I couldn't sleep all night. I had heat flashes. It's enough to make anyone quit. I could just as easily said, "This is not worth it."  Add to that, I haven't really lost weight. Ah, butt I have lost inches. which is really what counts. I like keeping what ever lean muscle is left.

I am still adjusting. Studying the ketogenic diet questions and answers, I learned persistence pays off eventually. Let's face it.. I am one of those people who doesn't easily adjust. Oh well... If I looked at the scale, I would quit for sure. It's all in the tape measure.

I feel much better than I did starting out. I am still adjusting. It's hard getting over eating sweets, even if it's just apples, bananas, and oranges....

Here is what's different... I get hungry some. It's not the cat scratching gnawing hunger. In the morning I don't want to eat.. I think oh, do I have to eat? Argh... I don't have the cravings I once had. This will make it much easier to maintain... I just wish, I wish I knew this years ago... Ya, live and ya learn. I never gave up searching for a solution...

I have a bunch of videos I have posted. Go look around for more.

Remember: If you post any comments, I screen them before they can appear. If I don't like what was written, they go bye-bye into cyberspace.... One more thing.. If it's anonymous posts, that goes bye-bye to.. I don't care how complimentary it is... I don't care what you say if you are NOBODY.. ! Got it?

KETOGENIC DIET: Most asked questions

I Am Definitely Losing Inches.

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto air again...

Yesterday I was able to get to a scale and weigh in 213.8-pounds. I didn't lose any weight. That said, I have definitely lost three inches from my waist around the belly button area. I am now hiking my pants up higher. I had to put two more holes in my leather belt because I ran out of holes. When I put my good clothes on, my dress pants were loser, and the dress belt was hitched all the way to the last hole. So, I think this is working.

I am excited about this.. I am not losing muscle tissue, I am losing fat. That's a real good thing.
I am looking thinner. My pants are beginning to fall off.

So you may ask: Well, what about the weight? Hey, I don't know. Like I wrote earlier, this is a very slow grind losing the actual weight.

I have to give you a warning about this life style if you try it... It dehydrates the living daylights out of you. Yeah, I had a splitting headache this morning when I woke up. I partially cured it by taking a 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, and a big glass of water. That is what's recommended anyway. Reading about this, I discovered that it's recommended to consume 2-teaspoons of pink sea salt a day, and a 10-ounce glass of water every hour. So tonight I am going to take sea salt before going to sleep.

Years ago I used to get migraine headaches because my job driving a bus at all hours of the day was very strenuous. The sleep hours were horrible, and the hour I put in during the week weren't even legal. I cured those headaches by taking 400-milligrams of Magnesium a day. It worked for a lot of things, to include many of my back aches.

This morning when I woke up, I didn't even want to look at food. That is how suppressed my appetite has become. That's a good thing. I am no longer obsessing over food...

If you are following me... I sure hope this helps.

No Cat Scratching The Stomach Hunger

Hello Weight Losing Fans.....

Today I stepped up to air. I haven't replaced that scale scale yet.

I just finished my fast this morning. It was longer than 36-hours. I felt terrific. Years ago I wrote about my weight loss and I complained about nagging hunger. I said it was like cats were clawing the walls of my stomach. Yeah, I lost a lot of weight. I suffered doing it. I like everyone else couldn't keep it up. I eventually went backwards. With the ketogenic lifestyle change, I am using fat to give me satiety. I went into my fast feeling good. I did not struggle. This morning when I broke it, I didn't want to eat. In fact my stomach kind of rebelled. I had to take HCL betain to get it to settle down. Now I am sitting here watching in the food court as one person after another pounds down giant muffins, and coffee. I have no desire to participate. It is better than the last time I went to lose weight.
And my fast, well I could easily have gone one more day.

What's Wrong with The Ketogenic Diet.

Is Fasting Healthy?

Intermittent Fast Day

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

I did not weigh in today... I still haven't replaced my scale.

I have been saying I really don't need to since this life style change is actually a very slow way to grind off the pounds. I am looking at about a pound a week. But, I have gone from a 46 inch waist to almost a 43 inch waist, and I am getting ready to add more holes to my belt...

Today is an intermittent fast day. I will go 36 hours without food. Oh, I will intake some fat here and there.

The intermittent fast is to increase insulin sensitivity. That makes it so I can start burning fat. I have been in some form of Ketosis for almost two weeks. This means my body is ready to go after that belly fat.  Let's see what happens.

And guess what, I am not struggling with hunger, or the jitters, or the light head that one get's while going without food.

Go below and see the posted videos about intermittent fasting... Don't do it unless you are sure your body is in Ketosis and that it has been in Ketosis for a while.

No Big Progress So Far....!

Hello Weight Losing Fans... I still haven't replaced my scale. Awww... No weight today? It doesn't matter anyway because on the Ketogenic lifestyle weight doesn't come off that fast. (I am talking about losing three to four pounds a month.).It's also very hard to get into Ketosis and stay there. I never knew it would be so hard to eat enough fat to make this whole thing work. I am already tired of butter, and I have only been doing this thing 10 days diligently. When I say eat enough fat, I am talking about eating 80 percent of my calories as fat. Now I am supposed to eat 50-grams to 100-grams of protein to maintain my muscle tissue. So multiply 2000 calorie diet (standard calorie count) x .8 equals 1,600-calories which is 176-grams of fat.... That's absurd. I can barely eat one stick of butter a day. That's only 176 grams of fat or 16 table spoons of butter.

And, I have had all kinds of issues adjusting. I went through all the symptoms of sugar cravings, and still do some times. This means I am not fully fat adapted yet. This translates into my body is still converting glucose in my system. So this slows everything down.

Also, I mentioned this before: On the ketogenic lifestyle the body has a tendency to maintain the lean muscle mass. The fat burns off and leaves the muscle behind. So when I was on my quest to lose weight before (years ago), not only was I losing fat, I was also losing muscle mass. This explains why people were saying my eyes look so sunken into my head.

Now, the progression of weight loss will be much slower, and it's hardly worth getting  another scale and weighing myself. At least not now anyway. I can wait to get another scale.

I have lost two inches around my waist line. ... But, I don't know what that translates into with the weight.

I don't have the same cravings for food that I did years ago. I remember when I was losing the weight all I could think of was eating. I would go to bed at night and wake up hungry. Well, I don't wake up hungry like I did. I wake up in the morning dreading eating anything at all. I am just not that hungry anymore. The only reason I eat is because I have to for my muscle mass, and nutrition.

That's all for now.

Just A Short Update

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the New Magical Mystical Digital Scale: NOT... I haven't replaced it.

I have let the cat out of the bag with all the videos I have posted as to my lifestyle change. I am using a High Fat, Light Protein Diet, with very low carbs. I have had a hard time adapting... And that's because to make everything work, I have to ingest huge amounts of fat. That's harder than I thought. I haven't made much progress. I have lost a couple inches on my waist. I don't know what my weight is. And as far as I am learning that doesn't matter so much considering under this regimen I won't lose muscle mass. I have some good news. My thyroid, and metabolism seems to be on the mend. I wrote not long ago that my body temperature was low all the time. Well, this morning I woke up with a 98.6 degrees body temperature. This is the first time in a very long time. That's all for now... That's the way it is... I'm David Dane
