Hello Weight Losing Fans....

Today I stepped upon to the Digital Scale Weighing in at 180.6-lbs.

On Christmas Day I was at a family members home and was getting complimented how good I looked since I was last seen ...
I made the comment I want to lose more. I got a reaction that I shouldn't lose more.
Well that's flattering; it doesn't fit with the reality of what I should be for true health.

I still have belly fat.  Belly fat is an enemy of men in that it holds estrogen which is antagonistic to male testosterone. Men need testosterone at all ages. And belly blubber is the anti-testosterone maker. Belly fat is also an indicator of other health issues, like fatty liver, high sugar levels, high insulin levels, insulin resistance, and the list goes on . I have only just started correcting a huge mistake in that I let myself get here.

I have reached the target zone that I wrote about years ago. I wrote my target was 180-lbs. I thought that would be sufficient. I have been maintaining this for months now. I bounce up around 180 to 185. Only my waist line is not where it should be. My waist is still too large. My waist should be 1/2 my height in inches.  My waist should be 34-inches.

Some people think I will look way too skinny. Some think that I will look anemic.  Years ago when I reached 174-lbs people said my eyes looked sunken in my head. One women in particular, who meant well, said I was too thin. This same women is now an adult diabetic who uses insulin. Her adult child just had stomach surgery so she could lose 150-lbs. And her renter is a guy who needs to drop a hundred pounds. Around the house is cookies, candy,  bread, sweet cakes, soda, and other foods that add weight quickly. The whole family pounds down sweet sodas completely oblivious to damage being done.  My point is the opinions mean nothing and usually come from people who have no worldly-idea what it means to be a normal weight. And mind you, even if I manage to shave off more pounds does not mean I have hit the epitome of health.

I have reset my target weight zone. I pulled it off the military height and weight chart. It is pretty much the same across the board for other height-weight-charts.  I need to have a 34-inch waist. (this is 1/2 my height in inches) I am at 38-inches around my naval now. Every five pounds of lost fat is 1-inch of waist line. I need to drop 4-inches off the waist line. Therefore I must decrease 20-lbs or weigh in at 160-lbs.

Now will I look too thin..? Probably I will. I am not looking forward to it.  I mean it. For one thing I will need all new clothes. I haven't been that weight since I left the active United States Army.   But what I look like isn't the issue. It's what my health is that matters. Am I more healthy than I was;  yeah. ? Not healthy enough where I should be.

Am I going to race down to 160- lbs? No...! Emphatically No.. I still eat, and I do some exercise every day. I just took two days off for Christmas ,and it was so very hard to get up and exercise again. .. it's best to exercise a bit everyday without skipping. I am not talking about pounding workouts either.

So what does tomorrow bring. More progress I hope. Will it take me a long time to reach 160-lbs.  ? It will take me another year to reach that.    In the mean while, I probably won't be putting down my weight each day. It's tough writing on a tiny phone screen. .

That's all for now..  I'm David Dane

Going Back Down

Hello Weight Losing Fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Digital Scale weighing in a 182-pounds.

I took this photo today on my cellular phone.
These are 42-inch pants at the waist. My New waist is 38-inches around the naval area. Below that just above the hip bones, it is 37-inches.

I used to fill these pants out. Well, you can see the change....
