Over Last Years Weight

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183.2-pounds. That's down from yesterday.

During this time last year I was 179.2-pounds. That's up 4-pounds from last year. Oh well....

Behind in my blog reading...just read your post on iodine. For years I didn't buy iodized salt because I was allergic to shrimp, which is possibly an iodine issue according to my doctor.

Because I was trying to eat healthy and keep my weight down I also was eating broccoli daily, for years.

About two years ago I read that broccoli has a compound that affects they thyroid--can make it underfunction.

So I wonder if my over consumption of broccoli and my lack of iodine from salt contributed to my current weight issues. I've cut back on broccoli, rarely eat it now.

A couple of times my labs have idicated thyroid issues, but when retested, I'm in the low end normal range.

It's all very complex. And these issues, coupled with long term decreased calorie intake , I think, mess up our metabolism for life...we power down our internal combustion process. How to reboot it, I don't know..maybe exercise is the only way. Who knows? Not me for certain.

Thanks Dinah for your comment. I am perplexed for sure. I am not discouraged though. I know that I will find that magic bullet one day. I have had people insist it's the exercise. They don't know, that I have records that prove I walked five miles a day and still gained weight. I have a friend that stops running and the weight piles on to him. So it's not just exercise, it's the diet. I can't seem to get this across to people.
