Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 185.6-pounds.

Oh ouch...

Well, I guess I must have had one too many French Fries. Maybe it was that big hamburger that did this.

Somewhere out there my one fan is beginning to think, "Oh, if the master can't keep his weight off, then how can I? I am so weak, and pathetic when it comes to resisting the binges."

(Oh, I make myself laugh.)

Warning: Muslims Making It Absolutely Clear They Intent To Hurt Americans

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182.2-pounds.
That's up from yesterday.

The only reason I think this happened is because at lunch I drank 1/2 gallon of whole milk. That added 1,200 calories to my count for the day, and extra milk sugars.

Read The Interpretation Of A Muslim Scum Bag
When I began posting this particular blog, my intention was to use it for encouraging someone to lose weight. Sometimes I have modified my own rules and wrote something or put in a video that was completely unrelated to weight loss. I have a different blog that I had hoped to maintain with my other thoughts. Only, that blog has no onlookers.

Well, today I am breaking my own rules. I am clipping in a video of a Muslim Man who is speaking in Arabic. Down below is the English translation of what he is saying in his native language.

For years now I have have been warning friends and family that Islam is not a religion, but it is actually a belief system that enslaves it's people under men that are like little Hitlers. Islam is a believe system that seeks to completely control the individual in every aspect of his / her life.

Islam is very much like Fascism in that it can not be protested against or the protester is killed or maimed.

I can't go into all the particulars about Islam in this post. I will write this: I am sick and tired of the gullible, naive people who meet Muslims, and then assume they are the same as Western Americans.

You must understand that Muslims view Christians and Jews as the scum of the earth, and that it's their duty to dominate over them. There is nothing regenerative, or good in Islam. I repeat, there is nothing good or regenerative in Islam.

It is high time we Americans begin to realize that Islam in all it's forms is a danger to America.

Please watch this video before it gets knocked off the Internet. You'll have to read the English captions. Read them carefully and see this guy absolutely means business. He hates Americans, and he sees us as gullible and naive. Please pass this video to friends and family. Send out the Alert. Start waking up people to this.

Understand this may lead us to an internal war in this country. These people have every intention in misleading Americans, and then destroying us.

Muslim Scum Makes His Intentions Clear

I know that these words of mine may be disturbing. But, you must understand that our politicians are permitting thousands of these people to come to our country from places like Gaza, and Palestine as refugees, and they only want Islam.

I have friends that tell me we can get them they aren't dangerous. Well watch this video. Does this look like anyone you want coming to live in America?

Oh You Take Vitamins? Oh And You Are So Healthy?

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 181-pounds.

Two days ago I was looking through some of my old postings. I revisited one I wrote one year ago. I got a kick out of my make believe dialogue with a "Fat Lady."
So, I copied it here.

March 17, 2008 revisited: If You Are Overweight, So What If You Take Fish Oil?

Hello weight losing fans...
Today I stepped up onto that Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 179-pounds.That's not bad.

I am still up over my record.

But, I am back down under 180-pounds.This after having eaten so well yesterday morning. By 9:00 in the morning I had blown past my 2,000 calories for the day. I was given some hotel coupons by a friend and I used them to buy breakfast. I stuffed myself. Oink... Oink...

As a result of consuming so much food, I didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day. Oh, I had a couple glasses of wine when I got home last night. Then I went to bed. I was wiped out.

Fat Ladies Boasting About Eating So Healthy Yesterday
I was sitting at the computer in the business office area of the hotel. Outside of the door stood two large round ladies. These chicks were round.

One of them was boasting to the other about how healthy she eats. She was telling her friend that she takes fish oil, and vitamins, and all kinds of supplements.

The other said, "Yeah I gotta start doin' that too."

Now, any of you who have been reading my blog for mental nourishment over the last year, you pretty much know how I would have responded in the middle of that conversation. (Oh I make myself laugh: Mental Nourishment.)

Me: "Uh huh, I can tell lady you are eating real healthy there."
Me: "In fact I can tell you are eating real healthy there for everyone else in your family too."
Me: "I can tell that fish oil is doing you so much good girl."
Me: "Look how smooth and silky your skin is."
Me: "I can tell those vitamins are making you so fit."
Me: "Oh come on girl, where is your sister? She is in those bluejeans with you isn't she?"

I could go on with that dialog.

You know what I am getting at.

What difference does it make if you take vitamins, but you are round like a beach ball?

I took vitamins regularly for years. Maybe, maybe they helped me prevent cancer, and gave me some missing nutrients. They won't help you get fit if you keep eating and getting fatter. You can swallow a whole bottle of fish oil. If you don't keep down that food consumption, you will still get fat. Getting fat is a serious problem for the heart, and all those surrounding tissues.

In the end, it comes down to one thing: "Eat Less Food."

Well, Mr. Dane, you let yourself get fat. No, I didn't do it on purpose. I was searching for an answer. I am searching for an answer still. I still want to improve more.

If you are going to lose weight; you will have to "Eat Less Food."

Senator Fred Thompson Comments On The Economy

Hello weight losing fans....

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 181.4-pounds.

I have a new video that I hope you will view. It's from the former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson from the state of Tennessee. He was also an actor that appeared on a TV sitcom, "Law and Order."

Hear some interesting thoughts that he had to share. I know it's off the dieting schedule, but I think it's worth seeing.

I hope it is enlightening.

I have a friend (Tony) that posted this video onto his Facebook Page. I reviewed the video and thought it fits what we the preponderants all seem to struggle with. I got a good laugh out of it. The title of the video is "Junk Food Junkie."

It seems to get right to the point.

No Unusual Thoughts For Today

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 182-pounds. That's down from yesterday

This time last year, March 16, 2008, I was 180.2-pounds. I would say that's holding the line.

Time and time again I have written I surely would like to get down to 160-pounds. Only, I can't crack this nut.

I have been holding the 1,500 calorie line. I have eaten only proteins and fats and turned the ketostix purple as they can be.

I have eaten green vegetables, salads, and proteins. Yet, here I stay at around 180-pounds.

Then I keep coming back to the computer to write the same news, 180-pounds give or take 4-5-pounds.

I would write some other thoughts. Only, every one is different. We all have different reasons we struggle with our weights. So what does it really matter what I write?

I surely wish that I could write that after over two years in this weight losing season I have conquered all the things which make us stumble. But, I haven't. Now, I haven't gone backwards like so many people have. I have been stable and consistent at my current weight.

I think this is an accomplishment. I have talked to people that are amazed I haven't regained all that weight I lost. I can't tell you how many people I have talked to that told me they lost weight, only to regain it all again.

Fortunately that's not me. I monitor my weight every day. That alone is more than most people seem to want to do. I take action if I see a problem.

Now don't ask me why I jumped from 177-pounds back over 180-pounds in less than a week. I can't answer that one. All of a sudden the weight piled on and here I am sitting over 180-pounds again. I am dumb founded.

Am I panicking? No... It seems that everything is going back down again. We'll see in the future.

The Weights Going Down

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 181.6-pounds.
This is down from yesterday, and for sure, the day before that.

I haven't got a clue why my weight jumped up like this. It just happened. I am scratching my head, and I am puzzled.

I have been looking at my calorie consumption. There was one day when I visited a family member when my calorie count went over by 1,000 calories. That can't be the reason my weight loss took a nose dive.

I have written about this before. There are days when the body can gain five pounds. It could be fluids. It could be waste by-products waiting to exit. It may just be a change in the regimen, like the time of day when foods consumed.

I have been eating later in the day. That might be the reason. I worked 18 hours yesterday. I ate a large lunch because I knew I wasn't going to get any kind of dinner. That long fast period may be why my weight was at a more reasonable level this morning.

It's safe to say, I have been inside my 1,500 calories. Yet, there it is, my weights over 180-pounds.

Will Iodine Help Me Change My Thyroid?

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 184.2-pounds.
Eek....!!!!

Oh I am not panicking. I stepped on the scale before I came here to the library and was at 183-pounds. This was after having eaten today, and having drank plenty of water, and some decaffeinated coffee.

Time and time again I have written that the body changes it's weight up and down. Since I know this is true, when I see this kind of weight, I don't panic.

It's true, I did go back to consuming a higher amount of carbohydrates than I was. I got tired of the meat, and eggs. As you can see everything changed. If one looked back to one year ago, I am about where I was this time last year. So nothing has really changed. This is why I am not out of my mind over this.

I would like to see myself down at 160-pounds. I have resolved in my mind that's going to be a long process.

Not so long ago I wrote about the thyroid gland. I wrote that many times people who have a thyroid that is slow, or low, (known as hypothyroidism) also struggle with obesity. Hypothyroidism usually shows up as a lower than average body temperature, which for many is actually 98.6-degrees Fahrenheit (F.).

I reasoned that this lower body temperature, which is something that I have, may be the real problem with me getting off these last twenty pounds. As a result, I have been experimenting by ingesting Iodine liquid three times a day. I have been taking my temperature and found it as low a 96-degrees F. This has been my impedes to ingest the iodine.

I have to be careful, because I might find myself changing over to hyperthyroidism, and give myself a goiter on my neck. So, I monitor my temperature three times a day just to see if my body ever gets up to or over the average of 98.6 degrees F.

So far I have been averaging a temperature of around 97-degrees F. Only once did I manage to get it up to 98.1-degrees F.

I am attempting with all of this to get my body warmed up. Some people would insist exercise, exercise, you'll do the same thing. Ummm, no I won't. It doesn't work that way.

I am figuring out that my low thyroid may very well be part of the reason I don't want to excerpt myself with any kind of exercise. It may also be part of the reason I have been so blasted forgetful lately. Yes, memory loss is one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

I shall see how I progress with this. Just to let you know the Iodine I am using is from Kelp. It's not a synthetic Iodine. It's supposed to be safe. We shall see.

My Weights Up, And I Am Not Discouraged For It

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 183.8-pounds.

OK, that's up six pounds from last week. So stinking what?

I am not sitting around wringing my hands in frustration over this. I am not even worried if my fan base of one person might be disappointed.

I lost sixty pounds. I didn't have anyone holding my hands and telling me what to eat. I had NO ONE.

I have read books and articles about losing weight. I know what has to be done. I am not losing weight for you, or anyone else.

I am losing weight for me.

I am the one who will decide when to exercise, if I deem it necessary, or I even feel like it. I am the one who will decide if I want to eat a giant bowl of cereal in the middle of the night.

Weights Up Again

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 178.6-pounds.

Thyroid Health
Forty percent of the U.S. population has hypothyroidism, which is low thyroid function leading to a multitude of illnesses including heart disease and cancer.

So many people are on thyroid medication (hopefully on Armour natural thyroid), but all these people should also be taking iodine. The reason is that unless we get enough iodine with our thyroid supplement, we may be raising the risk of breast cancer and prostate cancer. The fact is if we had enough diet iodine, we wouldn’t have low thyroid function and wouldn’t need medication.

Hypothyroidism is a nutritional deficiency of the vital mineral iodine. It is extremely fundamental to health.

You can check your own thyroid function. It’s simply a matter of body temperature. The normal body temperature is 98.6ยบ F. Take your underarm temperature in the morning before you get out of bed and as you wake up, preferably with a shake down mercury thermometer. Leave the thermometer on the nightstand or table by your bed at night. Take your morning temperature at rest, underarm temperature for five days in sequence and record your average—which you get by adding them up and dividing by five.

If you are as much as one degree under 98.6, you are hypothyroid and you at least need daily iodine supplementation. I can’t go into it here, but conventional blood tests in a doctor’s clinic do not accurately show your thyroid function. Tens of thousands of people are struggling daily with low energy and obesity just because a blood test showed “normal” thyroid function. Do the body temperature test on yourself and your family.

If your thyroid is two to four degrees low, you need thyroid hormone by prescription from your doctor. Ask for the Armour natural. You should also take daily iodine supplement (see below for sources and amount).

Iodine displaces or flushes chlorine, bromine, fluorine, lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum and mercury with safety. In today’s world this is huge!

Sources and Amounts of Iodine
I have never read of any injury because of iodine but don’t take more than 12 to 14 milligrams daily. Japanese researchers say that they have found cases of hypothyroidism caused by excess iodine, 20 mgs daily or more.

Lugol’s iodine is an old favorite. Two to four drops in water for an adult would be okay.
Iodoral from compounding pharmacies and some health food stores—one tablet daily.
Another choice is Prolamine Iodine. This is an all-natural, vegetarian source.
All three can be purchased from Amazon.com.
Iodine is powerful and can be used in many ways. It’s an excellent water purifier. It can cure infection.

If you like are struggling with that so called low metabolism, try taking your temperature. If it's low as I have written above. You may very well be able to fix if by ingesting more iodine.

Of course I am not a doctor. Sometimes though I wonder if doctors are that up on the power of nutrition aiding in healing the body, and maintaining it at normal levels. That again is my opinion.

I'm Still Hoping This Method Might Work

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 178.2-pounds. That's down from yesterday.

On this day last year, March 3, 2008, I was 182.2-pounds. OK, so I have held the line. I sure haven't seen much progress.

Trying To Get The Glucose In The Fat To Burn
Yesterday I mentioned that I am using Ketostix to check if I am pumping out Ketones. This morning I used the strips, and the results were positive. I turned the strip purple.

According to what I have read when someone has body fat, they have stored energy. That stored energy is Glucose that's been linked together. Glucose is sugar. Fat is links of Glucose. Only they aren't linked like chains as we see links in a chain. The molecules of Glucose are actually knit together in molecules which makes them into fat.

Fat molecules are difficult for the body to break apart. It's actually easier for the body to consume protein molecules than fat molecules. This is why when dieting people need to consume protein.

The body uses glucose (a sugar) to provide the energy it needs to power up it's many functions. Without glucose in the blood the body would quickly run out of energy, and then die. It's called starvation.

If someone has large deposits of body fat, he / she has large storage areas of energy. Remember that fat is knitted chains of sugar.

Someone who's fat, can live longer than someone who's skinny if denied food. Water would still be necessary of course.

I still have 20-pounds or so of body fat. I know because I can see it around my gut. I have a few weeks of energy sitting there around my middle doing nothing but jiggling.

I have a dilemma. I want to get rid of that fat. I have been successful getting rid of 60-pounds by cutting down my calories for a long period of time now.

I am attempting to get at the fat around my waste by doing something called induction by the Atkins Nutritional Approach.

The system is simple enough. The body needs glucose for energy. The body gets most of it's glucose from the carbohydrates that I consume. If I've cut out carbohydrates, IE sugars, breads, potatoes, and some vegetables, my body has now been denied one source of glucose.

Since the body doesn't have a regular source of glucose that it can use from food, it now has no choice but to search out other sources of glucose. That source is supposed to be my fat stored on my body. Well, it's supposed to be...

I read in a blip in one of the Atkins's books a phrase that warned about consuming too much protein. The author stated the body can convert some protein into fats. How, I don't know.

This is why I have been so careful to watch my calorie counts with the proteins that I am consuming as well as the kind of protein I consume.

One other source of glucose is if the body can split the fat molecules from foods eaten with the proteins. It's much harder for the body to split these fat molecules. Therefore I can consume fat and not worry about it being a problem. Again, I count those fat calories as well.

This morning I fried two eggs. I added 20 calories of fat because of the grease the eggs might have absorbed.

I wrote all that to say this: "What in the world is wrong?" I didn't even consume 1,500 calories yesterday. When I added in my one 7-ounce glass of wine, I didn't have 1,500 calories.
I checked my sugar grams, and the glass of wine added about 4 grams of sugar.

I checked my urine and that one glass actually slowed my progress. Apparently, I am so carbohydrate sensitive, I don't need many grams of carbohydrate to stop the fat burning.

By my estimates, I ought to be down 5-6-pounds by now. I should be stepping on the scale weighing in below 175-pounds.

I am not.

This has me perplexed. And, it brings to mind some myths that I am discovering:

Myth #1: The Atkins Nutritional Approach works every time, for everyone.

Myth #2: If someone does the Atkins Nutritional Approach properly, they will never crave sweets again. I wish right now I were chowing down on an Ice Cream Sunday.

Myth #3: If someone does the Atkins Nutritional Approach they will never struggle with hunger.
I ate three hours ago, and my stomach is churning for more food.

Myth #4: It doesn't matter what kind of protein you eat, as long as it doesn't have carbohydrates. Well, I've been eating eggs, and meat, I haven't lost one pound.

I could go on with my myths. I don't have the time to complete this today.

I am not saying that someone shouldn't attempt to use the Doctor Atkins Nutritional Approach to lose weight. It worked a couple times in the past for me. Only, don't be surprised if you do it, and you do it properly, and still don't get the desired results.

I am holding on to the idea, that it's ultimately how much food we consume that gets us into trouble. The body only needs so much energy to operate. If we put too much food in to the body, with most people, it will end up stored as fat.

The trick to learn is how much food is necessary. Each person is different. For me, I don't think I can get away with too much more than fifteen hundred calories a day. This might be all I ultimately need.

Look how long I have gone these last years by consuming on most days around 1,500 calories.
It's been over two years. I am not dead yet.

If you are serious about losing weight then you'll have to tinker with those numbers. It's a sure bet, judging by the number of preponderant people I see each day, most people don't even try to tinker with their numbers.

Bye for now...

Purple's In

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 179.2-pounds.
That's up from yesterday. It ought not be.

I have read again some of the chapters of the Atkins's Nutritional System.
In my reading I found that when doing the induction system of Atkins there is a simple way to check my fat burning progress.
The device used to test fat burning is a Ketostix which can be purchased in bundles at the local Pharmaceutical Store.

I have been using test strips regularly to see if I am indeed burning fat. When the strip stays beige after being dipped in urine it means that there is no fat burning going on.
When the strip turns purple it means that a significant amount of keytones are passing out of the body. This is supposed to represent that my body is burning off significant amounts of fat.

This morning when I awoke, I tested my urine. The strip turned a deep purple. When I stepped up onto the scale I found I had gained weight.

I have been turning these test strips purple for days now. I should be down a significant amount of pounds. So it's said in the Atkins literature.

I have been practicing this phase of induction for what may be about two weeks. I have also been keeping my calorie count down. I should be at least 5 pounds below 180-pounds by now.

Nope, it's not happening. Purple is in with my Ketostix. I am not showing any real progress.

Now, I am going to get some zealous Atkins person pop in and tell me, "Go out and exercise."
You know what? When I lost 60-pounds in 2001-2002 using Atkins, I didn't break a sweat.
In other words, I didn't exercise at all.

I am waiting to see if I don't have one of those days where I wake up and I will see a very large drop in weight. I am thinking that I am at a very stubborn set point here.

When I lost sixty pounds during this weight loss season, I had days where my weight just dropped. I used to hit a set point, and stay there a while, then suddenly the weight would drop.

I will see if I am right. I am going to maintain this strategy. I am going to see if my weight won't change suddenly.

I am now eating meat, fish, fat, and cottage cheese. I have cut out carbohydrates, and sugars. I have for the most part cut out caffeine with my coffee.

I keep thinking I only have to get off 20-pounds. How hard can that be? Guess what? It's hard to do....

Bye for now...

And that's the way... I am David Dane

Trying To Get To That Illusive 160-Pounds

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 178.4-pounds. That's the same as yesterday.

This is a better weight than 365 days ago, March 1, 2009, which was 182.4-pounds. I am doing better than last year.

Yesterday I wrote about my attempt to get down these last 20-pounds. I have been eating few carbohydrates. I have kept my caloric intake down. Yet, it doesn't seem to matter.

This morning I woke up and then tested my urine. My test strip turned purple. It's beige if it's neutral.

My past experience with those results was that I was churning off the body fat. It's said by the Doctor Atkins Crowd that this is so as well.

To say the very least, I am scratching my head, perplexed. I have reduced the calories. That worked for a while. Now, I am turning ketosis sticks bright purple. Yet, My weight is sitting stubbornly as this 180-pounds, or so.

I have a friend who says go out and exercise like a fiend. Well, that isn't going to happen soon.
