Should I Lose Anymore Weight?

Hello weight losing fans...

Today I stepped up onto the Magical-Mystical-Digital-Scale weighing in at 180.8-pounds. That's up from my record of 179.4-pounds.

Well, the weight will go up and down.

Some People Think That I Have Lost Enough Weight
Today a friend saw me at church and commented that I shouldn't lose anymore weight. I was told if I lost another 10-pounds I would look gaunt.

I told her that I still have a gut. Well, she seems to believe that my face would look drawn and that I would look anorexic.

I am not sure if this is true. I used to be 160-pounds. I can certainly be OK at 170-pounds.
I am not sure what I should do anymore.

Bye for now...

A couple ideas/thoughts here...

You could try maintaining over the holidays, and then in January see where you're at, and maybe then loose another 5 pounds to put you at 175 and see how you look and what you think then...or loose another 5 pounds now, and then try maintenance and see how you are doing trying to maintain...I find that maintenance is somewhat harder...do you have a plan for maintenance? I'd imagine you will add some calories to your total daily allowed amount...will you add it in increments, say 100 and see what happens?

Or you could go ahead and just continue wroking toward another 10 pounds down....since you are in the weight loss mode it will be easier to continue than to increase food intake to maintain and then later have to decrease back to weight loss caloric intake to get back loosing...

At any rate you should do what you think best...sometimes people tell one they look gaunt because they are envious of your loss and want to discourage your success...it's the yes (as in great you've lost weight) BUT...you look gaunt in the face...the postive followed by the negative...why should they make a negative comment?...generally negative comments are designed to discourage a person and any thinking person knows that, so I'm inclined to think the goal of the "you look gaunt" comments are to discourage you from loosing more...but if you want to loose more, and think you need too, and you are somewhere in the weight range for your heighth and bone structure, there is no problem.

You know yourself best, and if you really really desire to loose another 10 pounds now might be the best time/chance of doing it...on the other hand, maybe you feel like you need a break...so doing maintenance for now would give you that break and some "practice" at maintenance, and then after the break you could make a goal of another 10 pounds....

And one last thought...people are used to seeing you heavier...once they get used to seeing you thinner they won't think you look gaunt...except the few who might really dislike you and want to "zing" you...they will voice it...kind/nice people won't tell you that you look gaunt...at least I don't think they would/should.

people do the same thing to me when I get to 140 pounds. But I think what it really is... people are used to seeing everybody look "balloon"-ey. Look at the japanese! Most of them are all thin and toned, even the ones that aren't atheletes. I watched Ninja Warrior aka Suseke yesterday on Spike TV and the difference is striking.
